  • Mc Lyte is good but Nicki's mixtape stuff kills this... and recommendations on Mc Lytes most hard song?

  • @Dahelliswrongwitchu lol how old are you

  • @justicelyric 20 why? Keep in mind my observation was comparing this song to Nicki's hardest song, if you could just point me in the direction of Mc Lytes hardest song I can give a more accurate opinion.

  • @Dahelliswrongwitchu google top 10 female rappers of all time. Nuff said. #1 Mc Lyte

  • @KylaKtm Those lists were made before Nicki blew up... But I'd rather not start a fight so can you just tell me which song you think is Mc Lytes best/hardest song I am just not feeling this song.

  • I swear every page of female rappers I go to way old school to new school I see nicki minajs name obv she doing something to yall her name always has to be mentioned smh!!

  • You can't put Nicki Minaj and MC Lyte in the same sentence. Lyte has legendary flow and Nicki is just doing what this era of Hip-Hop wants. It's two different plains of existence. Don't hate on my opinion.

  • guess runs in the fam charles hamilton fam

  • Like this if you heard this song from Love & Basketball

  • Quit talking shit about Nicki Minaj.. Damn... guess haters are everywhere.

  • nicki minaj is the worst rapper i have ever heard. if you listen to what she raps about its just whack, she says the whackest things in the whackest way. it makes me loose faith in our childrens future.

  • @AxMxF151 nicki minaj does have skills, she just chooses to rap like a retard. listen to her songs like "autobiography" "can anybody hear me" and "fly".

  • @AxMxF151 mc lyte is way better

  • Nicki Minaj could not touch MC Lyte with a 10 foot pole, wearing 10 inch heels, standing on top of 10 of her label mates shoulders.

  • @FCA1975

    SHO NUFF!!!!!

  • The beat and melody are from an oldie from 1966 Called "SWEET PEA" by TOMMY ROE.The whole dam beat and melody in the hook was sampled and ripped off .WAY TO GO HIP HOP YOU DID IT AGAIN.The thing is OLD ASS DJ'S and PRODUCERS know that these young morons out here don't do any research so they get over on them every time acting like they made the whole fuckin' thing.Look at Dre all the first NWA albums should have been called NWA featuring PARLIAMENTFUNKADELIC instead of NWA & the posse.NEVERMIND!

  • im only ten but id rather listen to this than anything else

  • this is a girl?

  • "Do you understand, the metaphoric phrase"

  • Love and Basketball Memories

  • 6 Dislikes? That's 6 too many WTF!

  • Dope lyrcist

  • Her flow is sick to Def...no female can see her...and most weak male rappers wanna "B" her...She may be "Lyte as a Rock" but she's droppin Boulders...like her name was Ba"Rock"

  • MC Lyte give up up for female empowerment in the rap music industry way before my day and till this day !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    much respects Ma'

  • Serious flow on this one. I miss these hip hop days. Biz Markie, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Ice-T, EPMD, Heavy D, D.O.C.,Tribe Called Quest, Eric B. & Rakim, DeLa Soul, Beastie Boys, BDP, Jungle Bros. Yo-MTV raps, high top fades, clocks & African medallions around your neck, fat gold chains, Parental Advisory stickers on records, tapes & cd's. Even bass music & Two Live crew, Too Short, Ron C.

I could go on & on. Those were awesome groups I love that so many people post stuff like this.

  • Number One female artist EVER!

  • brooklyn son!!!

    real hip hop forever!!!

  • biggie and tupac yeah. but odb is just part of wu tang and pun is what fat joe is doin now

  • *doin' da wop*

  • @etanielyehuda LOL You stupid yo! Gotta do it wit your dookie earrings on or it ain't the same!

  • Damn, I remember playing this on my record player back in the 80's. We were little kids then and didn't realize what was gonna happen to hip hop in the late 2000's. Rap music out now lacks soul. It's just pre packaged digital auto tuned CRAP. I often wonder what hip hop would be like nowadays if Tupac, Biggie, ODB, and Pun were still alive.

  • @NoMAIG

If u look up Tupac it said he knew how bad rap would get after him and thats what he talked bout in don killuminati. I was born in 97 but i look it up and i think if bigge didnt die it wouldnt had happened so quick

  • @Tj6297 Thanks. I will look that up. It's funny how when you listen to classic hip hop, you can understand 95% of what they were saying. At best, you can understand 59% of what they are saying today. WTF??

  • @NoMAIG yeah i know i am thankful for youtube and websites that have 2pac songs

that can be downloaded because listenin to 2pac taught me the real these other rappers are either in the illuminati or to pussified to try to wake the world up

  • my youtube fam... check out kleph dollaz "worship"

    youtube.com/watch?v=Q_QdbRCV5Ok

    thanks yall!!!

  • 6 PeopleDidn't Watch Love & Basketball. #Obviously

  • The thing that made Lyte so unique was not just the fact she was a female rap artist, she was the only female that was able to rip it as hard as the fellas.

  • @Pattersonproduction1 queen latifah brought it too!

  • @XsweetstarliteX You are absolutely right. The reason I mentioned LYTE is because see was the hardest of the female rap artist at that time.

  • 6 ppl r haevy as a feather

  • 5 ppl are not lyte as a rock ;)

  • she go hard

  • I was 18 when I had this cassette!

  • @darla1970 i guess u r 40 now lol me i wasnt even born yet but i like it

  • @darla1970 she was too

  • Damn this song is SICK! I really like the background sound. Wish they made music was like this now. This song came out around the time I was born!!

MC Lyte is a real female rapper not like these fake ass women you hear today.

MC Lyte had her music together.

  • @BMDB123

No offense but are u retarded or just accidently replied to the wrong person because what u just wrote has nothing to do with anything i wrote in this post, because i don't recall saying anything negative about Mc Lyte i don't even listen to Nicki and Trina so whatever u wrote don't even apply to me because first of all Mc Lyte is my all time Fave Female Mc of all time, maybe u need to go back and read my replies.

  • WHat can i say always been a big fan of mc lyte true queew of hiphop the rest need to learn from the best

  • greastest female m.c. cause you take her flow and you could picture any other male m.c. spittin those lines it didnt matter that she was female. man this, paper thin, then 10% dis on my cassette was constantly being played. 20 years ago those songs were banging and still will be for 20 more!!!!

  • my dad misses this so much i mean old school rap is about life with new rap is about drugs, sex , and killing i mean this is good stuff lil wayne is wack mc lyte is the best to me no ands if's or butts about it.

  • that's the raw i'm talking about. stripped down, emphasis on the awesome percussions! true oldschool

  • love and basket ball

  • see if Mc Lyte made my list

    /watch?v=NeS0tv_fyM8

  • REAL MUSIC!!!!!

  • First there was darkness and then came LYTE.

  • I like her because her rapping style is quite similar to slam poetry. (If they're not the same thing already). I think in order to be a REALLY good MC like Lyte, one has to know how to use things like metaphors, intonation, and know wth meter is.

Rap/hip hop is now a status symbol rather than an art form that requires talent.

    It's sick.

  • GIVE ME SHANTE LYTE AND YO-YO TO BLAST ANY NEW SCHOOL FEMALE RAPPER TODAY! THEY SUCK!

  • MC Lyte is a real MC. Nicki Minaj is a show. You know, like a circus act. It's not real. It's all put together. I still can't believe people compare them to each other.

  • Why on every female rapper video they always have to compare her to Nicki!? I mean Really!? Nicki is good and so is MC Lyte, Roxanne Shante, Queen Latifah, And the list continues

  • @cherrymixxin

i'm sorry but she ain't really on all those people you mentioned level and she should never be put in the same category as them those women are the Real True Definition of females in the hip hop game.

  • @Smiley5752 I never said she was on the same level as them or that she was in the same category I said that she was good

  • @cherrymixxin

    alright.

  • @cherrymixxin She is good n she is the est and she didn't have to show no skin to make a point her music did nit for her she is the teacher of hiphop she made the way for the new school and still on top of her game

  • @Smiley5752 ur young understandable u need to undrerstand if it wasn't for mc lyte and queen latifah there wouldn't be trina nikki whatever her name is they did it without having to dress like a h....... they had to prove to others that they to can handle the mic true hiphop music is about expression be true to the game maybe if u listen to the lyrics instead of watching the videos u'll see why shw called LYTE AS A ROCK

  • Yeeeeeeaaaaaahbooooooooyyyyyyy!

  • all the best female mcs are from brooklyn.

  • @thermiscira ya heard :D

  • @thermiscira I agree...

  • Now this is reppin New york!

  • sometimes i wish all the greats could come back and teach the new school a lil sumthin sumthin. MC Lyte was definitely a great and then some.

  • LOVE this beat!!! frrrresh!

  • nicki who?

    mc lyte is the best

  • @therealbrooksie agreed

  • @therealbrooksie mc lyte would burn nicki minaj in a battle

  • @shadowseraph78 ikr so agreed nicki minaj sucks

  • @shadowseraph78

    i WOULD LOVE SEE THAT

  • @shadowseraph78 hell yea! she'll murk nicki

  • @shadowseraph78 amen nicki minaj is going down

    lyte all the fuckin way

  • @shadowseraph78 Nicki Minaj can't spell metaphor!

  • @ENYPolyglot I doubt we'd ever see MC Lyte and Nicki Minaj battle, though. I don't she'd get herself involved in a beef with her. I think most of the vets would avoid beefs with the newer artists (like KRS-1 saying that Ice-T needed to back up off Soulja Boy).

  • @therealbrooksie dont compare her to nicki its a whole new era and nicki is in a whole different style she raps. this is hip hop

  • @MarcTheYungen dude everyone in my school likes nicki minaj and i hate her with a burning passion nobodys heard of mc lyte in my school but me so i had to say that

  • Now this is real Hip Hop in its purest form

  • Forever she'll be the best of all times fa sho

  • @cutiepienative12 exactly

  • @cutiepienative12 duuuuuuuuuuude i heard dis song and i had to find out what it was while i was watchin da mooovie yeaaaaaaaaa

  • Lyte was a breath of fresh air back then, I I used to DJ bought everything she made, every payday I was in Downstairs records getting what was new, then head over to Downtown Records and get some more. Latifah was nice too back then, she mellowed out with U.N.I.T.Y. but Latifah came hard too! Those were amazing days for Rap music and music in general.

  • 1 45 - 1 48 wth?

  • One of the greatest emcees period. A dope lyricist so dont try to play her and say greatest female blah blah, she'll rip a lot of so called male emcees

  • One of my favorite MC's, definitely a legend....so sad its not more of a variety of females doing this today....maybe there is hope, I heard Lauryn Hill is coming back!

  • Mc Lyte is the best!!!! Classy,Beautiful,Feminine.... Queen Latifah take notice!

  • @wety77 roxanne shante better

  • @TheEaglesfanindc roxanne shante is only good for steady fucking

  • @GrowthandChange2010 shante destroyed krs too she was so dam ill she the best female mc by far

  • @jerseynumber76 I know THE BEST ! I just watched it !

  • this song is awesome. and when they put it into the movie love and basketball it was niceeeee

  • favorite old school female MC's. she had the fellas shook.

  • Classic!

  • And people think bitches can rap these dayz. PLEAZZZZZZZZ ol school baby. I mean, I do like some of the new school but some of what they rap about about sounds a little kiddish.

  • Wait a minute you mean the female rappers of today or just female rappers in general? I can agree with you that some of the females MCs of today can't rap and it sound kiddish. Da Brat, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Lady of Rage, Salt & Pepa, Nonchalant, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot, those are a few of the realest female rappers to me.

  • Yeah those that you named are the realest rappers to me. I am ol school. Roxanne shante, mc lyte, Queen Latifah...etc. And like I said I do like some new school but it doesn't compare.

  • the female rappers that are out cannot hold a candle to the ones you listed...they actually had talent, they didn't have to be half assed naked to get attention, their talent spoke for itself..they didn't beef with each other, or sex wasn't the topic of their lyrics...they worked so hard to pave the way for female rappers and the ones now just messed it all up

  • @brainsNbeauty86 Thanks glad you agree. I forgot Eve she was the last decent rapper, Then came Trina and Khia and they rapped about sex sex sex.

  • she is!! i forgot about her too...its sad....i miss pure talent

  • @lpc0615 i got 1 name u missed MIA X

  • pul leze i don't know what they doing now...but they ain't rapping

  • @brainsNbeauty86 Lol Luv is rapping like this(in her own way). If people could just get over her looks and focus on her talent everyone would see that.

  • same here latiyana2, and that was a great movie

  • when i here this song i remember love in basket ball lol i love this song

  • lyte as a rock or i should say boulder rolling down your neck punding on your shoulders...what???? im a rapper myself nd i can clearly say no female today is fuckin with MC LYTE
