  • Well done, Bill. I had an idea in a dream, (gotta do with the Krebs cyce), and I never could explain the idea, even to myself! (Didn't have that damn notebook!) But I went with it anyway, and it led to a coffee jar suction pump and that led to the "pulser pump" and now it is on wikipedia! You are right, most people will never make money from the ideas, if you hold them in, it will kill the idea and maybe you too! , but if you give them away, it makes for a better world

  • @gaiatechnician If you give it away freely, the next one is 3X cooler and more useful. And if you give *that* one away freely ...it happens again. Soon you hit the "Tesla Barrier." Time to go and sit quite still in a NYC apartment, feeding pigeons, and not daring to write anything down.

  • I also believe your philosophy. Ideas that are beneficial to mankind are gifts and are not meant for material gain. When we start focusing on material gain, the 'ideas' dry up, that's our problem. We have forgotten that we can live a fulfilling life without all the greed and monetary gain.

  • Yawn

  • I just watched all 6:44... Thank you.

  • I totally agree with you and I'm glad you realize the we shouldn't be telling ourselves how great we are. Most people now think that it's healthy to always tell themselves how woderful they are. In fact, I believe this notion is even taught by many psychologist these days.

I also found your other ideas to be truthful and relatable.

  • "Sound serious thoughts on worthy subjects...cannot be conjured up arbitrarily at any time. All we can do is to keep the path clear for them by banishing all futile, foolish, or vulgar ruminations, and by turning away from all humbug and tomfoolery. And so we can say that, in order to think something sensible, the quickest way is not to think of anything absurd or preposterous. We need only keep the field open to sound ideas and they will come

  • I think your spot on. Your vision is clear and precise, i feel...

  • LMFAO, that last comment was freakin halarious

  • I call the hole my subconscious. The reason your ideas dry up when you try and market them or boast them isnt because of good and evil. When your conscious is active you cant hear the hole. I learned to use the hole. It can be mastered. Glad to see youre a thinker. Its really one of the better parts of our brains. Its also what psychics (or atleast some of them) are supposed to be using. For some reason Ive always seen the subconscious as more powerful then the conscious.

  • Oh and I dont believe in 'magic' aka psychics. I belive in science. And I believe if you see something before it happend, you can explain how with science. Just wanted to clear that up.

  • Yeah, all genuine "paranormal" effects will eventually become part of physics, even if it takes centuries for the disbelief to erode.

Actually we're just like Plato or Galileo, we're all living in the distant past. We think our science has had hundreds of years of advancement, yet we're still back in the primitive era before (fillintheblank) was discovered, when all scientists were still ridiculing (anotherblank.)

If anyone knew what those blanks really were, they'd still be laughed at.

  • Subconscious - food, sex, basic desires

Conscious - what you are reading

Super conscious - that little hole, or the all knowing God state.

This all parallels the body-mind-soul trinity

    Other odd thoughts:

We only use 5% of our brain

We have 5% useful DNA the other 95% is junk

The double helix snake (caduceus) originally meant communication and wisdom

What if we are 95 spiritual entity and dont realize it?

  • "It's up to other people to tell you that you're wonderful."

You are the most brilliantly random person that i've ever seen. This stuff could sell, but like you said, it would stop the ideas. I really hope you never need to sell your ideas.

  • Google adsense revenue, posted NEXT to free ideas!!!! (Plus a tiny bit of YT revenue.)

  • I hope that keeps up. Over the past two days, I've been going through all of your videos.

You're quite an inspiring person, whether you realize it or not.

  • Bill Beaty, you're infrared goggles for under $10 have changed the way I view the world! Thank You!!!

  • "then get yourself a littlte camera" -BRILLIANT!

  • if you like visit halfbakery (.) com its super awesome where people create n share ideas

  • See mine on

    halfbakery com/user/wbeaty

  • I visited your site where I read Physicists call them "positive column striations," while neon artists call them "jellybeans".

do you think that if a glow tube had a bunch of graduated fresnelish facets along the side the plasma blobs could all align to focus

thatd make a groovy persistence of vision Beer neon advertising effect or even multiple colored items from diffractive bumps along the length of the tube plus varying the jellyblobs frequency per inch at the power supply

  • Some electronics company figured out how to make a high-freq neon sign driver ...with stablized jellybeans! I've seen a few of them around, but not many.

  • You are very wonderful

  • very inspiring thank you !!

its great to hear what you know told to you in a way you would never have explained it

  • I find long drives help my mind sift through all the web pages in my head that are still downloading. I thought you gonna say LSD helped expand your mind, HA!

  • > I find long drives help my mind sift

Exactly! Especially driving at night. A mild "drivers trance" lets you put your head all the way through the tunnel into the subconscious realms. That way you're not just sitting at the hole, waiting for stuff to pop out. You can see it being built. And make requests. It works so well, it can be terrifying.

  • There are also techniques by people like Win Wenger and Paul Scheele. They're interesting and also useful it appears. Google Project Renaissance and Genius Code if you're interested. I don't know all of their details but I know Scheele's paraliminal recordings are pretty significant. They're like a combination of meditation and hypnosis, there are different paraliminals for different purposes. I can recommend them.

  • Oh shit - another ME.

Wait a minute, are all you other guys like that too? Damn - this is an interesting species.

  • I've had horrible ideas before but the process of figuring out why they were horrible brought me to new ideas that weren't so bad.

  • Another thing that helps with Ideas is to look into other subjects and crafts that interest you, even just a little. Woodworking, metal working, black smithing, autobody repair, engine mechanic, knitting, aerospace industry and anything else. Knowledge is power. Who would have thought Id go to school in Autobody repair and end up building airplane parts and custom tooling. But my Autobody knowledge has help me bring new ideas to the industry.

  • Man, I don't get any sleep... no wonder I get so many great ideas! ;) seriously, Im tired.

  • lol, the end was the best part.

  • one of my household chores as a kid was to restock the fridge with soda for my parents...i got sick of tearing into bulky 24 packs and putting them into the fridge one by one after awhile...i thought that it would be much more convenient, for me at least, to make a 12 pack that could fit on top of a fridge shelf, and have one side that could "break away"...15 years later, some "genius" marketer turns on the same light bulb and now we have nothing but MY "Fridge Packs"! life can be so unfair...

  • damn that is so true!!!! its like idea carma lol

  • Albert Einstien said that he wasnt smart, he just stayed with a problem a lot longer than most people.

the 1 problem I find is when I think Ive come up with some GREAT and new idea, but find out later its been invented 20 years ago! ha! Usually "my" simpilest ideas are the ones that are unique and new, the ideas I don't think too deeply on are simple and I figure it's not grand enough for me to dwell on.

  • I always get crazy ideas. I work in a place where I have access to all the woodworking tools, metal working tools, hydrolics, dry ice... everything I can think of, I have access to it! I also have a lot of free time on my hands and I end up tinkering around inventing things to make my job easier and just work on my own projects.

  • I've been thinking about these before, but you have much more experience than I do. Thank for the ideas. And nice ending :)

  • I get my ideas (I program freeware computer games) while doing boring repetitive tasks. I guess just doing that empties up space in my head for me to capture ideas as they are floating through my subconscious mind. Or somthing.

  • worms are eating my brain.

i think i am going to beg for things from the hole.

  • This video is just the "intro" version.

In the advanced class you'd work for years on trying to create odd mental states while still awake. Highway driving for hours at night does it. Or meditation, vision-quests, or the sleep-deprived hypomanic states used by both Edison and Tesla. Then you end up on the other side of the "hole" where you encounter the giant creativity avalanche. Note well that this is not at all safe. Look what happened to Tesla's mind.

  • Umm...read A Technique for Producing Ideas by James Webb Young.

By your own admission ideas come from your subconscious/mind. Then to boost your idea ability increase the knowledge in your mind.

  • > Then to boost your idea ability increase the knowledge in your mind.

That too. Also, try to defeat your fear of making mistakes and looking crazy. Once you don't care if the ideas are wrong, and aren't afraid to appear insane, you've removed the "filters" which otherwise might keep your best ideas from getting through.

  • you are wonderful

and I need a little tiny video camera.

  • hilarious ending bro! just subscribed today... keep'em comming

  • ... and that never happened to be mefore?

I love it! Like when Richard Wolfson says "You just shrug your heads and move on.".

    I get you, Bill. :)

  • They just come, with details, its an incredible experiance. come on over and check out my "project" it has come to me the same way.

    magnets spinning w/nonmagnetic flywheel

I have over 300 pieces of paper with other ideas.

  • The end is too hilarious! Seriously cracking up over here.... Thanks Bill!

    -Scott

  • Thanks Bill !!! Rob Storms, rochester, NY

  • Good video and good thoughts, Bill.

  • You've reminded me of something that's been happening to me over the past year while I'm in bed getting ready to fall asleep. I'm half way between sleep and awake with my eyes closed and If i hear a click or bang (from the heating system) I get a very vivid black and white image. It's different every time, sometimes it looks like black and white wavy lines or a fade from top to bottom. I'm going to start drawing them to put on my website I think.

  • Favorited :D. I really need a notebook because I have lost so so many ideas in my life. I find my "idea ball" is more active when I am in school and have no time to pursue my ideas. Unfortunately, then when I have time, I don't care anymore. Anyway, another good video.

  • Hey russoft, guess who said this:

"A man would do well to carry a pencil in his pocket, and write down the thoughts of the moment. Those that come unsought are commonly the most valuable, and should be secured, because they seldom return."

It was Francis Bacon, a main founder of modern science.
