  • The best thing is how perfectly they're blended I can't even tell who's on what part.

  • @duukno obviously he wants a BJ

  • Beets the sh..t out of lady Baba!..........Lol

  • All things in time have motion and sound to accompany that!

  • Superb!!! I would not call the higher voice falsetto, more of a higher sappaono? or alto sapprono? Falsetto is a false voice trying to achieve the alto sapprano status. This brings back a completely different field of thought, feeling and perception to the original Billy Joel classic........Well worthy of top marks......... Dieter graham

  • @dieter634 Falsetto is the place in the male or female voice where they can no longer sing in their normal vocal range intensity,(for a lack of a better word). Falsetto is a breathier, lighter sound.

The higher voice term for males hitting the alto or soprano range is countertenor.(:

  • @meettheandersounds WELL SAID lol

  • As much as I love this piece, visually all I can think of is how the bass looks like Mr. Bean. XD

  • This, kids, is why accurate intonation is important. Now go practice.

  • has Mr. Bean always been that good at singing...?

  • falsetto at its best. i often listen to this song before i sleep.

  • This song is the primary reason for me wanting to have a daughter.

  • this is SO BEAUTIFUL.

  • The Kings Singers really must have one of the greatest Countertenors out there. These guys are unreal.

  • Listen to the bass the last like 15 seconds... Amazing

  • This is so perfect

  • What a falsetto. I just jizzed. :O

  • Not the most attractive men this world has ever seen but damn, can they sing.

  • This is AMAZING but mught i say that the guy at 2.14 looks like mr bean!

  • Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!

  • So maybe some of you have the same circumstances, my speakers only go so high.... making this song just the perfect volume. I have to lean in to hear the music fully making this the best thing about this song. I think this is the way this song is supposed to be, in this case soft, but mainly powerful enough to make you drop everything else and listen. That's what music should do.

  • I don't usually have tears in my eyes when listening to beautiful music, but this is one of the rare pieces that makes me be very close to it.

  • Absolutely Brilliant!!! Nothing else to say....

  • Wow , that was really good !?!

  • Love this song. Makes me cry,

  • Its beautiful. Perfect harmony. Its perfect

  • A german poem says: "Where people are singing there you should stay. Evil men don't know any songs!" If that's true, they must be saints :D

  • I was a teenager with a collection of heavy rock records when I first heard the King's Singers' performance at Wolf Trap Farm Park on PBS back in the early 1980s. They gave me a new appreciation for the beauty and harmony that gifted singers, relying on nothing but their voices, can achieve. Have faith for the future, HappyParenting. Popularity waxes and wanes, but beauty and quality like this endure.

  • This is beautiful

  • stephen's c# at 2:24 is awesome

  • Good music is not often popular. However, Gaga does not have more hits than Joel. Check your facts.

  • Absolutely wonderful harmony here! One of their best!

  • I like the song, love it

I just don't like the idea of countertenors, it sounds odd in a song like this especially, sorry

  • @JAyala7293 Sound odd? How on earth does it sound odd? It may be that you simply don't have the capacity to appreciate good harmony.

  • @canadagoose4ever I am positive that I can give my opinion on a rendition of one of my favorite songs, and not be insulted. Have you heard Sleep by Eric Whitacre, one of the most beautiful harmonized pieces I have ever heard, that I appreciate.

  • putting this on FB for the third time...hope somebody will appreciate it finally... :-/

  • this song makes me want to cry

  • które to skurwiele dały nie-okejke? dajcie mi tych skurwieli!!!

  • Wow...... am having goosebumps all the way..

  • JeLoUs2, im 16 but love this song. My music teacher used to show us this video in the beginning of choir. He's leaving which is horrible. He was awesome, but he showed me what good music is. I still listen to Gaga every once in a while. Mr. T was awesome. (P.S. not the Mr. T your thinking of.)

  • Thumbs up if you're 16 and you still listen to this

  • @JeLoUs2 oof. I'm14...

  • It is wrong that some people are comparing this with Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. Come on, that's a different music, this is a different music. They are both music, and we can't force on people our choices. People who like this or Lady Gaga are neither superior or inferior to each other. Quit comparing singers and music styles, already!

  • I believe I like this cover better than Libera's. That's saying a lot, as I a big fan of the boys. Thank you!

  • Countertenor and falsetto isn't mutually exclusive. Countertenor is only the musical term for the pitch of voice. But a countertenor sings most of the time falsetto which is only a special way of producing the tone.

And please: if you really like music it's a bit closed-minded to compare Lady Gaga with this. Any kind of music has its place. King's Singers as well as funk as well as pop as well as Monteverdi. There's a time for anything...

  • @sirgregii Agreed :) It just makes me sad that the King's Singers can sing at such a high level of musicianship and still not be as well known (not by a long shot) as a lot of today's chart-toppers...Forgive my trolling, sometimes it just bothers me that everyone in the world can't appreciate music like this, as it is so wonderfully written/performed! I don't think Gaga fans are ignorant, I just wish the groups like KS could get the same amount of publicity.

  • @solvoindeus Indeed, this song is somewhat east of anything. I guess it is (together with "Spem in alium" by Tallis) the most beautiful music I know.

And I really can't understand, how some people don't get the spell of this sound. That's the thing that really makes me sad, but I don't think that this... em... lack of musical sensitivity is the fault of any artist since 1960 :D

  • @sirgregii I 1000% agree if there were such a thing. Everytime I hear them sing I tear up and it's not because of relating to lyrics. It's because I can't hardly grasp such beautiful music "N Sync" like it should be.

  • @sirgregii Depends on how you define music, I wouldn't say Gaga is a musician, I'd say she's an entertainer..

  • o_O

  • UGH! just makes you want to cry! there so good!!

  • This is just perfect, there is no other word for it .... if a any tiny detail was slightly different it would be a completely different performance

    Just perfect

  • it always fulfils me with peace und fortune... I love it ♥

  • I justi love this song. And this is an amazing interpretation.

  • Is that a falsetto or is he a countertenor?

  • @MathMonkeyMan David is a countertenor

  • The shortest guy (idk his name) has the most perfect falsetto I've ever heard in my life.

  • @LoserlyCool his name is David Hurley and he's been part of the group since his early twenties! He's brilliant!

  • I have tears.

  • I was on their concert in Pécs (Hungary) yesterday and I think everybody in the concert hall wanted that the concert would never end

  • I have used this and other King Singers clips to calm and put my 6 month old baby to sleep from his first days home from hospital. He goes instantly calm and quiet with the sound of the first note. Amazing to watch and so precious. He knows good music!

  • @GreenByTheBeach keep "feeding" him good music and he'll grow up to be a musically strong boy!

  • hauntingly beautiful...extremely well performed; thank you for posting...it always brings tears to my eyes.

  • 6 people dislike this. the name of the album this is on is The King's Singers - Six. weird. but it should still have 0. dis-liking this is dis-liking tenderness and love.

  • Nothing, nothing comes close to the uninhibited emothions of love for a child, my children, that this pours into my heart when I listen to this. It has all the strains of a Yiddish lullaby that my little Grandma Elsie sang to me. Now that I'm a mom of children who aren't little in my arms anymore, its so evocative and tender that I still remember singing to my babies as if if were still today. Thank you.

  • SIX who hate this im going to give you a piece of my mind

P.S i think it sounds beater when SATB sings it together

  • I don't see any way how six people disliked this. SIX! I mean really...

  • 2 years after performing this song in high school, i still get the chills watching this video.

  • LOVE this! =D Stephen Connolly is a fantastic bass singer, the octave drop at 2:26 is excellent

  • How do these singers keep from crying when they sing this?

  • @nancypantsy15 To say that some people have no taste is wrong. Their taste is just different from yours. Take me for example. I love all music no matter if it's vocal, Instrumental or over produced as you put it. Just because something is changing does not mean it is wrong and to condone an entire generation because they changed something is terrible. Music is not about what taste you like. It transcends taste. Music does for each person something different with each style. That's its glory.

  • @Boylikesgirl Do you mean to say 'condemn'? ;) 'Condone' means 'approve of' ...pretty sure that's not what you were trying to say. :)

  • The guy on the far left looks like if Glenn Beck and Lars Ulrich had a kid together.

  • I've seen them live one week ago- fantastic!!!

  • It's quiet, but so....... I'm working on a project in class while listening, and their voices are crystal clear, and they blend together so well... When Billy Joel sings this I cry.... when the King's Singers sing this... it's just too much. Thanks for uploading this video. It's beautiful.

  • I've finally listened to it often enough to keep from getting glassy-eyed. This is a

rich, warm rendition that is at the very least, hauntingly beautiful. You could play

this for a birthday or a funeral and it would be equally respectful and significant.

Billy Joel is a goldmine that gives to all of us. This ensemble is really great and

a mile deep. I saw them by accident as part of local public service programming.

  • 6 people have no soul

  • Pure bliss.

( i didn't know that rowan atkinson sang though, 2:12)

  • Beautiful

  • I just cried a little.

  • There isn't a better blend of voices than this right here. The song brings out the ability to blend and harmonize like nothing I have heard.

    Gentlemen well done!!!

  • Stupendous!

  • It bothers me just a bit that songs by Lady Gaga and Lil' Wayne have more hits than this. THIS is music.

  • @solvoindeus

Amen. It makes me sad beyond words that this is dying out and people can't appreciate what this kind of beauty is.

  • @solvoindeus Indeed this is music. But it is more than music. It is like heaven. I close my eyes and let my ears do the job. Thanks for the wonderfull moments.

  • @solvoindeus the problem I guess is that these guys are too good to use an autotune. ...They'd break it.

  • @orphious885, The poor autotune would die of lack of exercise.

  • @solvoindeus Definitely man... totally agree..

  • Perfect!!!

  • 6 people obviously don't know real music :l I love this song and them so much

  • I'll see them live in february-I'm so happy

  • @MsJoana2008

    What?? Where are they performing?

  • @MsJoana2008

    What?? Where are they performing?

  • My favourite piece from them is Chitarra d'amor but sadly there isn't a live video of that

  • zum Weinen schön!

  • bass 2:27...woooow

  • just amazing falsetto from the guy on the left.

  • absolutely amazing. this gave me chills. this is pure amazing music.

  • In my opinion, the King's Singers belong to the best vocal ensembles in this world. You might compare them with the Hilliard Ensemble, but their sound is really unique.

  • i just cant turn it up loud enough..

  • @moonlightradience Try with headphones, this is the best way to catch the pure beauty of this piece...

  • a capella singing rules :)

    see croatian klapa's singing a capella ...

  • This has been the last song of Stephen Connolly with the gropu on 26th september 2010.

It has been an incredible performance, and for the huge emotion most of us were crying...

    Thank you Stephen!

  • hypnotizing.. today our choir teacher let us listen to this. its so relaxing. when they finished i realized i had a tear in my eye. i needed this. ive been too stressed lately. their voices let me unwind.

  • Enchanting.. I'll sing it to my kids one day... :)

  • Everytime I cry... and I love it

  • Listening to them sing this song is like entering another world made of nothing but beautifully meaningful, emotional music. What an enchanting piece.

  • Lenyűgöző!

  • 2:01 - 2:30 gave me chills

  • Haha... the bass fucked in up at :26. He went to the second ending. Even the King's Singers make mistakes... but not really. Awesome performance of an awesome piece.

  • @sitarooman There was the base note, and the baritones and tenors hit a half step up and the bass hit a half step down, then they met back at the base note. No one made a mistake.

  • again, the 5 ppl that dislike the kings singers.. eff you guys lol. douches.

  • after hearing this about a hundret times it still puts on goosebumbs on my arms- its just the fulfillment of music !

  • breath taking

  • love the little guy

  • @hoburton I love how his voice fits his general appearance perfectly. The high voice, the friendly, sympathetic face, the calm but passionate eyes and the small frame of his body. I think he's great too, hehe.

  • It may not look like he can produce that sound, but hey, what are countertenors for?

  • It may not look like he can produce that sound, but hey, what are countertenors for?

  • That soloist does NOT look like he could produce that high, crystal-clear sound!

  • 5 people who disliked this are justin bieber fans

  • This is wonderful...and to cap it all, the Libera boys choir has done a version for release on their next album...check it out, you will not be disappointed

  • breathtaking.

  • @Logatec You chose the very right word.

  • thanks for cutting applause !!!!

    too sad stephen retired :(

  • 2:45 on ... beautiful.

The whole thing is quite stunning.

  • Stephen Connolli 2:21 (their super bass who've sang with them for over 2 decades) have just retired :(

Thanks for everything you've done man...

  • @revanslc ... so sad.. Stephen has sung with the guys for 22 years... I for one wish him very well in his new job... And also good luck to Johnny Howard in his new role with The Kings Singers... Big shoes to fill, but with us all wishing him well he should be fine.. Keep singing chaps we will listen... *sighs* :0)x

  • こんなにも美しい歌声が奏でられるなんて

    なんて素敵で綺麗なおっさんたち。

    人は力を合わせればこんなにも素晴らしい。

  • I am humbled by the skill and talent of this ensemble, and stunned by the absolute purity of the performance. I shared this on my facebook and had a couple of strange responses. Some people just can't see beauty in anything... this is truly remarkable

  • I shared it on my facebook as well. Some people just have no taste. And with my generation, I fear that music appreciation will be lost to the synthesized /hip hop/ over produced music corporations.

  • painfully beautiful.

  • This is absolutely haunting and unbelievably beautiful!

  • i dont see how anyone could dislike this....

obviously 5 people are poorly misinformed on what music sounds like

  • @singah101 they're afraid that, when such angelic voices have come down to earth, it signifies the coming apocalypse. the calm before the storm, in a matter of speaking

  • @singah101

Probably 5 people who dont like male falsetto- yes strangely enough there are people who will dislike a video just cause of that. Oh and this excludes the jackasses who just like to spam dislikes :)

  • wow! that's all I can say, just wow!

  • wow!

  • Wow, you can never grow bored listening to this!

I went to a concert of them tonight and it was absolutely amazing!

I've listened to this song about 30 times now and I still think they have some of the most beautiful and mesmerizing voices!

  • The 5 people who disliked this have the most untrained musical ear and are complete idiots! This is just simply magnificent.

  • Every time I listen to this song it sends chills up my spine! They are so brilliant!!!! They sing in such great harmony and blend so well! I love it more than the original! <3 Nothing against Billy Joel ;)

  • Every time I listen to this song it sends chills up my spine! They are so brilliant!!!! They sing in such great harmony and blend so well! I love it more than the original! <3

  • Musical perfection in the finest of detail. And performance is not about vision. It's all about the music, the harmony, and what I love is especially the outro.

  • What the bass (Stephen Connolly, who's leaving the group, sadly) does at 2:29 is simply amazing. That entrance is so difficult to pull off that gently and right on pitch, but he made it seem so easy. And you've just gotta love the ensemble balance they have, it's magical.

  • so beautiful. it really hits me when i hear this. ive got to memorize this for my future children. . just amazing perfomers and performance!

  • the guy at 2:14 looks like mr. bean...

  • That's incredible! Their blend is so perfect and their tone is so well rounded. Beautiful singing, all around.

  • ohhh! That was just beautiful - I stopped breathing - and had to jump back into reality. How can 6 human voices make such a moving sound?

  • wonderful

  • STUNNING.. wonderful and so may other adjectives that I can't think of at the moment because I'm crying AGAIN... Beautiful, there's another one... :0)x

  • man these guys sure can sing the countertenor on the left has such a nice high soft voice beautiful man just beautiful

  • Stephen Harper and Mr. Bean sing surprisingly well.

  • @DeLorean4 ... David Hurley 'counter-tenor' is sublime leading the top notes and the other end is you 'Mr Bean' look-a-like... Stephen Connolly 'bass'... Fantastic contrast, sublimely wonderful and I am crying again... I need tissues please *snif sniff* :0)x

  • It makes me cry every time I watch this video and listen to this song..

  • This is sheer bliss... Listen just before you retire to bed, and you will be calm, and ready for heartfelt dreams, filled with loved ones here and on another plain... I love this and adore the Kings Singers... Ahhhhhhh :0)x

  • Nem tudok betelni ezzel a zenével. Minden este meghallgatom.

  • the soprano on the far left is AMAZING. i want to sing like him. xD

  • @sakurasugoi He's a counter tenor.

    From the left, they are...

Counter tenor , counter tenor, tenor, baritone, bass, bass.

Counter tenor is a male Alto soprano

  • this is AMAZING. i wanna hear them do "for the longest time" now

  • anyone know where to find the sheet music for this arrangement???
