Excellent race! I wasn't sure which one would win, thought maybe if the bike started off from the beginning that it would surely win, but it was so fast at the end, you knew it would win!! I watched it 3 times, I saw the speedo go up to 225km! I have no idea how many mph that is, lol!!
Great Vid! I think the bike rider is using the Porsche to learn the track, a good idea if you are not familiar with the bends. Would like to have seen the bike riders faster laps when he starts pushing the R1 to the red line.

The R1 is a nice but the engine when hot has always smelt slightly of cheese. Not sure why. None of the other major bike manufacturers seem to have this problem.

Less weight, so what? A bike has even less rubber on the floor, the only thing that actually steers a vehicle into a corner. Leaning over is NOT a substitute for the laws of physics. Less rubber to turn, the slower you will have to take the curve or face deadly sliding / rollover.

@Punisher8300 On a drag strip or straight runs you are 100% correct, but on this track with all of the corners there isn't a chance in hell the ZX-14 would beat the Porsche and certainly not the R1. The Busa out maneuvers the ZX-14 and a Busa would still lose with the corners on this track. By-the-way... I am a fan of the ZX-14 and the Busa for their shear speed.
Cool video as it's a proper comparison. The biker clearly isn't a pro-racer and doesn't have great track knowledge, he's just a competent rider. I had some similar tussles with 911s etc on the 'Ring too on my Fireblade years ago. I have absolutely nothing against bikes and i actually admire motorcycles but nothing can beat having 2 extra tyres as a control surface as a pose to just 2. And at some circuits such as the one in the clip it is a constant struggle to discover and exploit grip. Question whats more hardcore? The Isle of Man circuit or Nürbergring Northernloop? And why was the bike rider holding back in the corners anyways? The R1 is capable of more...

@2URBO2 Well not really. Cars will always win the braking and cornering battle, so it depends what track you're on and what car/bike you're comparing. Price wise, yes you get more out of a bike than a car..but guys buying GT2's or GTR's or ZR1's or whatever aren't worried about price ya know? The R1 held off to videotape the GT3. In 08 a stock GSXR1000 (not so different from an R1 that it would drastically change times) ran a 7:46.70 on the 20,832 m track, The best GT3 time on the 20,832 is 7:42. The vehicles are basically equal and it all depends on the operator.
the car didnt even want to compete with the bike, he turned on his indicators just before T13 (old start/finish). no point in arguing wether the bike or the car is quicker.
This is not the video to start comparing gt3 and R1 with! As the man below says I suspect the R1 would blitz the GT3 on the straights just as the GT3 would destroy the bike on the bends. I got the feeling the rider could have gone a lot quicker if he'd been in a proper race but he just couldn't tempt the Porsche driver into it :( maybe the GT3 driver was new to the track, you saw him indicate in to let the bike past at the start. Shame. I'd have liked to see it.

Rider is using odd lines, and not even keeping his bike where the power is for most of the video. the r1 isn't the cream of the crop. there are much better Italian bikes. also the honda rr1000 handles much better. r1 is nice but almost all the jap 1000 bikes are the same ... rider makes ll the difference.

I have absolutely nothing against bikes and i actually admire motorcycles but nothing can beat having 2 extra tyres as a control surface as a pose to just 2. And at some circuits such as the one in the clip it is a constant struggle to discover and exploit grip. Question whats more hardcore? The Isle of Man circuit or Nürbergring Northernloop? And why was the bike rider holding back in the corners anyways? The R1 is capable of more...

@2URBO2 The 7:32 time was run "bridge to gantry" which is only 19,100 and not the full 20,832. So the lap time will be considerably quicker.

@TheBulldawg4life True. So, with an experienced driver, an R1 or any high end superbike could be faster than a high end sports car on a track. Especially if the prices are compared too. For 20 000 grand, you get a insane fast bike, for 20 000 grand you dont get much of a car....

@2URBO2 Well not really. Cars will always win the braking and cornering battle, so it depends what track you're on and what car/bike you're comparing. Price wise, yes you get more out of a bike than a car..but guys buying GT2's or GTR's or ZR1's or whatever aren't worried about price ya know? I love riding sport bikes, and I love driving sports cars. To me it depends on whats available for me to sit in/on.

The R1 held off to videotape the GT3. In 08 a stock GSXR1000 (not so different from an R1 that it would drastically change times) ran a 7:46.70 on the 20,832 m track, The best GT3 time on the 20,832 is 7:42. The vehicles are basically equal and it all depends on the operator.

the car didnt even want to compete with the bike, he turned on his indicators just before T13 (old start/finish). no point in arguing wether the bike or the car is quicker.

This is not the video to start comparing gt3 and R1 with! As the man below says I suspect the R1 would blitz the GT3 on the straights just as the GT3 would destroy the bike on the bends. I got the feeling the rider could have gone a lot quicker if he'd been in a proper race but he just couldn't tempt the Porsche driver into it :( maybe the GT3 driver was new to the track, you saw him indicate in to let the bike past at the start. Shame. I'd have liked to see it.

@ATCRyderX Put a pro rider, a pro driver, no-one else on the track, and both who know the track. It would be a whole different game. Rider is using odd lines, and not even keeping his bike where the power is for most of the video. I don't know as much with the car, but I know the R1 has a lot more then what is showing in this video.

this is quite sure for Nürburgring circuit, which is one of the worst for motorbikes (for it's dangerousness and characteristics), but in other circuits the winner between ss motorbikes and sportive cars (excluding track day ones like Radical..) is not so sure

@ATCRyderX : I'm not directing this entirely at you but everybody is so obsessed with the car or the bike. It's all about the rider or the driver. It doesn't matter how well a car handles. A good laptime requires a LOT of skill and is flat out scary. Personally, bragging rights goes to the one beating someone who's vehicle is clearly better than his. Say that 0Zolrender0 is right... okay, then the GT3 driver is clearly better than the R1 rider. Who should be the one losing sleep?

the r1 isn't the cream of the crop. there are much better Italian bikes. also the honda rr1000 handles much better. r1 is nice but almost all the jap 1000 bikes are the same ... rider makes ll the difference.
the gt3 in this video is leaving this guy on almost every turn. nice video!
