  • What type of avionics suite is onboard? Honeywell?

  • A great flying jet, takes a bit getting used to all the technology. But lands nice, rides great in turbulence, and has a beautiful flight deck and passenger compartment. I just got on as an F/O at a U.S. based company flying these and variants of these, and feel very foretunate. It does cost to get there, but you gotta take it bit by bit, unless you are well off, you will go in debt, but it can be done.

  • every time i fly to toronto on air canada from heathrow i always hope they fly the routes over newfoundland. sometimes due to weather they fly further south, south of nova scotia which means you get less scenary on a longer flight. the mealy mountains route over newfoundalnd is much more interesting

  • wow, seemingly longer than normal take off roll.

  • As I haven't been able to become a successful pilot (the first time I have piloted an aircraft when I was only 13, a Cessna 150) , is basically due to economic problems, never could afford the high cost of flight training.

Now it is next to impossible for a plainspotter to sit in that seat behind either the captain or first officer in flight, but how is Canada on this, can one obtain a special permit to do so, or how does that work? Anyone know? Thanks! (Happy Holidays)!

  • @electricrailwaygod If you are a pilot or a flight attendant for a big airline you get standby flight passes to travel for free...or almost. When the flight is full we can occasionally get to ride on the flightdeck jumpseat. Otherwise the general public is not allowed up there inflight unfortunalely....

  • lol my brother is a pilot of a B777-300

  • it looks weird flying it with those M shaped handle bar yokes

  • I WANT TO BE A PILOT BUT IM NOT GOOD WITH SCHOOL AND MY PARENT TOLD ME THAT YOU GOTTA BE SUPER SMART TO BE A PILOT IS THAT TRUE OR FALSE?

  • @sliptalk you need to be smart enough to finish school and to turn off the caps lock...

  • @sliptalk not a smart-ass guy but smart enough to handle different situations that you may encounter, imagine a dumb-ass pilot that doesn't know how to react in a life or death situation. not good.

  • You know how theres lights in the centerline of the runway?, well wont the nose gear run over these lights?

    Please answer

  • @Projectskyrace Well, the nose gear will run over those lights and those light are buried into the pavement so those light won't get damaged. Also to avoid going on top of the lights pilots will either let the nose gear slightly left or right of the centerline. Also in some airports, the lights are off position to the left or right edge of the centerline marking.

  • I am so proud of my boyfriend he worked so hard to become a pilot in air canada. and he is flying embraer :) I am flight attendant of different airline. I am pretty impress with air canada's system. :)

  • @kathpictures I am also hoping to get there someday ;) What airline do you work for? I used to be an FA for Jazz.

  • @speedbird6431 who do you work for now?

  • nao sei pq a embraer ñ ganha da airbus

  • emjs are so comfortable and there one of the fastest planes for there size mach 0.82.

  • So lucky to jumpseat in this baby... Love the airplane! Love the video! Nice one!

  • The Air Canada Emb-190s r the BEST!!!!!!!!!

  • is there a cigarette lighter in there?

  • I'm guessing the new young pilots at AC are all on the E-jets before upgrading to the A320's in 1-3 years?

  • @MrCars AC pilot's salary is the same for the first 3 years, regardless of the aircract flown... So they put you anywhere they need you. I met new hires that were relief pilots on the 777 for long haul flights to Asia!

  • @speedbird6431 Is it true that many new hires are in their mid to late 20's but can start either as f/o or relief pilot like u said?

  • @MrCars That's right! It just depends on where they need you when you get hired.

  • @speedbird6431 On air canada? I know what airline Im shootin for now =P lol awesome vid btw!

  • Oooh, I love these E-190's!

  • orgulho do Brasil.

  • wow, what a runway hog.

  • lol, well it is the shortest runway at the airport :P

  • well it is ok but, nothing like Boeing and,if it isno't Boeing i am no't going!

  • @solomonpilot767 what do you think about airbus A380 vs Boeing 747?

  • @DAIMBRAN well,i would rather fly B747 than A380 by the way.Boeing is comming up w/B747 800 and,it is 20 feet longer than B747 400!

  • @solomonpilot767 I dunno, for me flying the 380 would be something else, even though it's not much different than flying any new fly-by-wire airbus.,..it's an icon for new age aviation, just as Concorde was and still remains.

  • @solomonpilot767 Correction that's B747-8 not B747-800.

  • @solomonpilot767

If it ain´t boeing it ain´t going!

  • Every fly with Bill Christopopolis? He is on the 190

  • it looks like it rotates for you.

  • You were ?-bound

  • Toronto-Calgary

  • @speedbird6431 Thanks

  • Awesome! Do you work for Air Canada?

  • yes :)

  • Awesome! I hope I would be too after I graduated!

  • Nice aircraft. Quite a long takeoff roll--I counted about 40 seconds all together between full throttle and what appeared to be rotation speed. Compared to about 25 seconds in the CRJ 900 or 30 seconds in the MD80. I had a similar experience in the awesome Wilco e190 add-on for FSX--I recommend. But the 190 does have a long takeoff roll. Wouldn't suggest taking off from a smaller airport with short runways! This is the future of aviation, though. Fly-by-wire, smaller, more efficient aircraft.

  • So...............what are these Embraer jets like? They look skinnier than the Boeings or the Airbuses. Both the two aforementioned companies despise the Embraer jets.............but is this a fair criticism or just commercial rivalry?

  • Obviously, commercial rivalry.

  • @stegatops I have never flown a real E175/190, just a simulation on a computer, but if the E190 simulation is anything like the real-world counterpart, it's a dream to fly...

  • Nice! The control sticks move when on autopilot?

  • yes, they are connected to it and vice versa. Their movement sums up, this means if the pilot pulls to the left and the first officer to the right, the result will be zero. There's a button on the yoke, with which you can disengage the autopilot. :)

  • by the way, the autopilot is that horizontal bar in the middle, which the F/O touches at 1:19... :)

  • Pretty neat. Now that's my kind of Fly-By-Wire.

  • the yokes look like....... bicycle hand bars.....

  • @mrdistraction I imagine the yokes are very comfortable. Concorde had a similar style yoke.

  • Amazing plane! Emb-190 rocks! Other companies have add this great plane to their group!

  • Hi Speedbird. I just flew with Air Canada this last week on three 190s...the longest flight being four hours from Kelowna to Toronto. I think it is the nicest single aisle airplane out there. Comfortable, very quiet, excellent air quality in the cabin....hell of a nice airplane. I hope some other airlines down here other than Jet Blue procure some of these planes.

  • @1965JWP Us Airways, Republic, United, and Delta fly the 170's.

  • i like the embraer cockpit is just beautiful

  • I like the Embraer 170-195 but I think the new Sukhoi Super jet 100 is going to be a great airplane as well and the Pininfarina interior in the Sukhoi is state of the art beautiful.

  • The embraer's have weird yokes!

  • Hawker private jets have the same control yokes, and to me they always seemed awkward...

  • SWEET. my dad flyies the 777-200LR but i Love embraer. lol

  • your dad is one lucky and rich guy xD

  • ya, maybe i shouldn't tell but he's making about $200,000 a year. i fly with him all the time, in and out of toronto

  • wow, i wish i was making that, is he away from home most of the time? im just curious and is that 200k already taxed? or not taxed yet xD thanks

  • Well, I guess it got my young daughter from YYZ (Toronto) to YYC (Calgary) today. I watched the whole flight on the internet and cried once it said it had landed. Thank you Pilots and Crew, Transport Canada, Air Canada, Embrauer, God, and anyone else that I missed.

    Sincerely, a relieved mother.

  • oook, I guess you have a fear or flying...

  • Hi, great video! Can you tell me if it is right that you land the Embraer 170/190 when autoland is enabled with just flaps 5? Why not Full flaps?

  • sweet

  • I heard that all the young pilots start as embraer pilots when hired by air canada

  • They hired a lot of new pilots for the Embraers when they first got them but I met a few of them that started as relief pilots on the 777 and the A330 on the long hauls.

  • are there any pilots on the a320's the are in their early 30's?

  • how long do they stay relief pilots and what aircraft do they fly after that?

  • Anyway from what I hear from the techs at Air Canada, buying the embraers jets was a very big mistake they tell me that they are not fuel efficient and a nightmare to maintain

  • Bull Shit.

  • Relax man, that's what people told me. Bring the numbers to prove I am wrong. That could be a bright move from you...

  • Likewise to you, anyone could say what you did, and anyone could say what I did. We don't even have an argument if the primary topic isn't even cited.

  • wow that yoke is like the one on the Concorde

  • For Flybe min engage hieght is 400ft =)

  • those steeringcolumns or whatever it's called in English are really ugly. I like the ones of boeing much more

  • I have to admit it looks like a bicycle handle! :p The Concordre used to have something similar to this!

    tot ziens!

  • how did you get ac jump seats working for jazz.? i thought they didnt do that?

  • Jazz and AC flight crew can ride on each other's jumpseats

  • i have only ever got jump with jazz... ac has never gave it to me , maybe just bad luck haha

  • I hope you don't have to pedal

  • Embraer 190 = full of software bugs....

  • how come ?

  • At least it doesn't get blue screens of death like windows...

  • hahaha, that´s right !

  • i think that Embraer is the best aircraft industrie in the world.

  • where was that flight headed seattle?

  • Calgary

  • Question: If you have the choice between Embraer or Bombardier, wich one would you choose?

  • Embraer 145 or 190, If i had to go bombardier it would be the Dash 8 Q402 or CRJ700/900.

  • Embraer 190 for me Mike, god do i ever like those new EFIS's!

  • Ahh that's awesome! I'm hoping to become a pilot for them someday.

  • ....same here! :)

  • How did you manage to get this video lol? Usually the flightdeck door is locked. After the aftermath of September 11th. Maybe if your an employee at Air Canada I guess they'd let you ride jump. Other than that there not aloud to.

  • Exactly!... Only active flight crew with the company can ride in the flightdeck and only if the flight is full. I am a flight attendant with the company.

  • Tupolev and Illushin are shit!

  • Embraer is great... I wouldn't set foot on a Russian plane to save my life...

  • I like this video

  • wow long take off roll....

  • are you a pilot speedbird?

  • I am becoming one :-) I am working as a flight attendant for now but I am doing my pilot licences in Calgary at the same time.

  • good luck.

  • Hey speedbird...How do I become a commercial airline pilot via the civilian way not the military...

  • there are college programs or you do what I did and go to a private flying school

  • im gonna be a pilot ;)

  • no, 006 is almost full north... I know it's confusing :P If you look at a compass rose with the numbers from 0 to 360 (degrees), it might be a bit easyer to figure out

  • The rule of thumb here is when doing headings, you always read out the headings in 3 digits example, to turn right, its heading 090, to turn left, its heading 270 etc. only on runways does this differ.. runway 24 is on a 240 heading, runway 2 and runway 4 are both 020 and 040. hope this helps! Capt. JFK

  • Right

  • Nice

  • Thunder clatter, rattle rattle, boom boom boom. Don't worry call it ERJ!

    Great video, thanks for sharing.

  • As a mechanic who works on the E-190 will tell you, EMBRAER is an acronym for

    Every

    Mechanical

    Breakdown

    Requires

    An

    Electrical

    Reset

  • Tell it to the man who pays you, if you think he´s more stupid than you.

  • You get what you pay for! Embraer . .a little bit of Boeing, Airbus, Douglas and Volkswagen working off software that has been revised 100 times and counting. PS, I've forgotten more about aviation than you'll ever know son!

  • I´d like to apologize for my overeaction, man.

It´s not about me, but JetBlue, Air Canada, American Eagle, US, Continental and many other clients around the world, which airline today would purchase an unreliable plane ?

Issues may occur, but´s not the rule.

  • Not a problem principalsuspeito. My airline has been going through growing pains with the E-190. Some of the problems are our fault, others Embraer's fault. All in all, not a bad ride.

  • Missing Dash-80, a screwdriver and it was all over.

  • "the Jungle Plane" :P cool video

  • EMBRAER!!!

    BRAZILIAN AIRPLANE!!!

    Fuck´n BOMBARDIER!!!!

  • Great video! Where was this flight headed?

  • Calgary Ab.

  • wasnt it toronto...and had to make an emergancy landing in calgary?

  • uh... we took off from Toronto and landed normally in Calgary... what's not clear?

  • The Airbus A319 was heading for Toronto, when they were experiencing onboard computer errors and rough turbulences over the rocky mountains, so they decided to emergency land in Calgary, Alberta.

  • goes on autopilot that soon ??

  • and when is the proper time to engage it?...after take off,you can engage a/p...whenever..

  • It depends on company SOPs.

  • Please, for the love of god.....GRAMMAR CHECK YOU n00b.... I neeed shoop da whoop

  • cool i don't have to move after all

  • sure you will...to get the experience to fly one of these you'll have to move

  • hey I thought the crew bases for air canada were Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal...unless it was air canada jazz but air canada jazz doesn't have embraer planes does it?

  • Jazz doesn't have the embraers. Air Canada crew bases are Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Jazz bases are the same ones plus Halifax.

  • Hey! Nice Vid!

With my landing one, it make a "full 190 experience" (in YYZ)! ;-)

    Cheers,

  • how did u get to film that

  • I'm a flight attendant with the company, the flight was full and I was commuting back to my base (Calgary).

  • Nice video!!!

  • why are the pilots not communicating during takeoff? I hear no callouts of V1, rotate, gear up etc etc etc.

  • They did do the callouts but they where not very loud. I only heard them in my headset.

  • mola mucho!

  • Embraers are great airpnes.
