A great flying jet, takes a bit getting used to all the technology. But lands nice, rides great in turbulence, and has a beautiful flight deck and passenger compartment. I just got on as an F/O at a U.S. based company flying these and variants of these, and feel very foretunate. It does cost to get there, but you gotta take it bit by bit, unless you are well off, you will go in debt, but it can be done.
every time i fly to toronto on air canada from heathrow i always hope they fly the routes over newfoundland. sometimes due to weather they fly further south, south of nova scotia which means you get less scenary on a longer flight. the mealy mountains route over newfoundalnd is much more interesting
As I haven't been able to become a successful pilot (the first time I have piloted an aircraft when I was only 13, a Cessna 150) , is basically due to economic problems, never could afford the high cost of flight training.
Now it is next to impossible for a plainspotter to sit in that seat behind either the captain or first officer in flight, but how is Canada on this, can one obtain a special permit to do so, or how does that work? Anyone know? Thanks! (Happy Holidays)!
@electricrailwaygod If you are a pilot or a flight attendant for a big airline you get standby flight passes to travel for free...or almost. When the flight is full we can occasionally get to ride on the flightdeck jumpseat. Otherwise the general public is not allowed up there inflight unfortunalely....
@sliptalk not a smart-ass guy but smart enough to handle different situations that you may encounter, imagine a dumb-ass pilot that doesn't know how to react in a life or death situation. not good.
@Projectskyrace Well, the nose gear will run over those lights and those light are buried into the pavement so those light won't get damaged. Also to avoid going on top of the lights pilots will either let the nose gear slightly left or right of the centerline. Also in some airports, the lights are off position to the left or right edge of the centerline marking.
I am so proud of my boyfriend he worked so hard to become a pilot in air canada. and he is flying embraer :) I am flight attendant of different airline. I am pretty impress with air canada's system. :)

Beautiful aircraft, a pity that most Brazilian companies do not use this type of model, although it is manufactured in Brazil, only some companies use: The Blue airlines is the same owner of JET BLUE of the United States and others who use aircraft of the EMBRAER small!
@MrCars AC pilot's salary is the same for the first 3 years, regardless of the aircract flown... So they put you anywhere they need you. I met new hires that were relief pilots on the 777 for long haul flights to Asia!
@solomonpilot767 I dunno, for me flying the 380 would be something else, even though it's not much different than flying any new fly-by-wire airbus.,..it's an icon for new age aviation, just as Concorde was and still remains.
Nice aircraft. Quite a long takeoff roll--I counted about 40 seconds all together between full throttle and what appeared to be rotation speed. Compared to about 25 seconds in the CRJ 900 or 30 seconds in the MD80. I had a similar experience in the awesome Wilco e190 add-on for FSX--I recommend. But the 190 does have a long takeoff roll. Wouldn't suggest taking off from a smaller airport with short runways! This is the future of aviation, though. Fly-by-wire, smaller, more efficient aircraft.
So...............what are these Embraer jets like? They look skinnier than the Boeings or the Airbuses. Both the two aforementioned companies despise the Embraer jets.............but is this a fair criticism or just commercial rivalry?
@stegatops I have never flown a real E175/190, just a simulation on a computer, but if the E190 simulation is anything like the real-world counterpart, it's a dream to fly...
yes, they are connected to it and vice versa. Their movement sums up, this means if the pilot pulls to the left and the first officer to the right, the result will be zero. There's a button on the yoke, with which you can disengage the autopilot. :)
Hi Speedbird. I just flew with Air Canada this last week on three 190s...the longest flight being four hours from Kelowna to Toronto. I think it is the nicest single aisle airplane out there. Comfortable, very quiet, excellent air quality in the cabin....hell of a nice airplane. I hope some other airlines down here other than Jet Blue procure some of these planes.
I like the Embraer 170-195 but I think the new Sukhoi Super jet 100 is going to be a great airplane as well and the Pininfarina interior in the Sukhoi is state of the art beautiful.
Well, I guess it got my young daughter from YYZ (Toronto) to YYC (Calgary) today. I watched the whole flight on the internet and cried once it said it had landed. Thank you Pilots and Crew, Transport Canada, Air Canada, Embrauer, God, and anyone else that I missed.
They hired a lot of new pilots for the Embraers when they first got them but I met a few of them that started as relief pilots on the 777 and the A330 on the long hauls.
Anyway from what I hear from the techs at Air Canada, buying the embraers jets was a very big mistake they tell me that they are not fuel efficient and a nightmare to maintain
Likewise to you, anyone could say what you did, and anyone could say what I did. We don't even have an argument if the primary topic isn't even cited.
How did you manage to get this video lol? Usually the flightdeck door is locked. After the aftermath of September 11th. Maybe if your an employee at Air Canada I guess they'd let you ride jump. Other than that there not aloud to.
Exactly!... Only active flight crew with the company can ride in the flightdeck and only if the flight is full. I am a flight attendant with the company.
no, 006 is almost full north... I know it's confusing :P If you look at a compass rose with the numbers from 0 to 360 (degrees), it might be a bit easyer to figure out
The rule of thumb here is when doing headings, you always read out the headings in 3 digits example, to turn right, its heading 090, to turn left, its heading 270 etc. only on runways does this differ.. runway 24 is on a 240 heading, runway 2 and runway 4 are both 020 and 040. hope this helps! You get what you pay for! Embraer . .a little bit of Boeing, Airbus, Douglas and Volkswagen working off software that has been revised 100 times and counting. PS, I've forgotten more about aviation than you'll ever know son!
It´s not about me, but JetBlue, Air Canada, American Eagle, US, Continental and many other clients around the world, which airline today would purchase an unreliable plane ?
Not a problem principalsuspeito. My airline has been going through growing pains with the E-190. Some of the problems are our fault, others Embraer's fault. All in all, not a bad ride.
