  • I always wondered why Maxim was attracted to her when they first met - not for her personality - or - looks.

  • That eyebrow lift at about 1:17 remind me so much of his acting in Sherlock Holmes

  • jeremy brett is dreamy. and he plays the role of maxim de winter so well

  • Joanna David, one of my favorite actresses, but I can never remember her name- she's always so good-

  • awesome!

  • I also suggest the audio CD edition of Rebecca. It is an expert performance.

  • if you liked this one, do check out the 1940s version! its amazing and a lot better than this one!

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. This is my favorite filmed version of the story and it is impossible to find on DVD

  • They picked the perfect people to play the roles of the characters in Rebecca. This just amazes me.

  • Jeremy Brett was a very elegant and good-looking Max de Winter. Rebecca was an idiot for dumping him....

  • the actress who plays mrs. de winter probably ended up with a very wrinkly forehead.

  • dang they have like every line from the book in here! great!

  • Thanks so much for uploading. Adoro a Jeremy Brett.

  • What was he thinking about? Isn't this the cliff that Rebecca dared him to jump from after their wedding?

  • thank you so much for sharing this. and Please Please Please, Do Not ever remove it.

  • huh? how come more people have watched this than part 1?

    doesnt make sense

  • Jeremy is a perfect Max de Winter! So elegant and misterious!!!

  • I remember watching this as a 13 year-old-brilliant!

  • Jeremy Brett is a smashing Maxim de Winter. At the beginning, in his interaction with Mrs Van Hopper, there was a twist of humor to his portrayal that some of the others don't have.

  • Quite fun to see Jeremy Brett in this role. I always thought Olivier was so perfect for the character, I always pictured him when reading the book. But Brett is indeed a good choice, not as nobely handsome as Olivier, but he had more charisma imo, more of the Rochsterian sex-appeal. And I've always loved Brett as an actor, much more than Olivier.

  • @MsSarjen hehe but I also think Brett was more gorgeous than Olivier ^^

  • @wincipoet In my opinion, I agree. But I've always pictured Max as a noble snob in face, and hence much more like Olivier.

  • I don't see how this one or the new one could ever take the place of the original Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine version. Even though it wasn't as true to the book I always thought that none of the others equaled it even though the others are also good.

  • I have been looking for this video for YEARS!! My friend emailed me today with the link. This was the BEST production that i had ever seen. I didn't like the newer one; This one followed the book more than any other version. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing. Is there anyway I can get a copy??? :)

  • Jeremy Brett was so handsome...

  • @wownouser And a fine actor as well. He has a very intense look in his face, and always seemed very present in every character he played.

  • The actress playing Mrs de Winter is Joanna David, I just found out (Wikipedia) that the actress that played her role in the 1997 adaptation with Charles Vance is her own daughter...

  • Charles Dance (sorry)

  • I like how in the book the waiter didn't see the mess until Maxim came to her rescue. LOL I like how he ignores her because of her station. I wonder if (like the book) her meal is better because she is with him, the distinction embarrasses her.

  • Imagine if Mrs Van Hopper decided she was feeling better and came down to lunch after all...Yikes!

  • @drsadz Or see her drive off with him in that beautiful car!!! I want to drive aroubd with him too!!

  • @drsadz or see them drive off together!! that's a beautiful car too, awesome

  • oh my - he's so hot! :D I like this much better than the later miniseries so far.

  • I agree the lady playing Mrs DeWinter is the best I have ever seen in the role. She has just the right level of naivete and not pretty but attractive. She is exactly what i see when I read the book

  • The background music-Debussy`s "Reverie" is beautiful. Lorraine

  • Mr Brett and Ms David, so attractive couple!

  • Thanks very much for uploading this to YouTube. I like this woman more than the others I've seen in this role.

  • LOL what does the French waiter say?

  • @toothbrush55 The French waiter says that the old lady was not abble to get down and have lunch, but the young one had found an husband. He jokes about the clients who can't hear nor understand...

  • Thank you very much indeed for sharing.
