It is very sad that there is no one like Tatal saheb or Rafi saheb in this generation, it is very unfair of god to have sent them all almost during the same time frame including naushad, sahir ludhianvi, shankar jaikishan, hasrat jaipuri, shamshad begum, .
thanks to youtube...and the uploader...my dad and me listened talat's songs all evenin...ill remember this day all my life...i saw my dad recollecting things from his childhood and tellin me as the songs were running in the background...thxxx ppl
Sorry antariks ,I misquoted Sahir Ludhiyanwi 's poem. It should read ,"Aanch dene laga hai Qadmon ke thale burf ka fursh , aaj jaana hai ke mohabbat mein hai garmi kitni . sangemarmar ki tarha saqth badan mein tere ,aa gayi hai choo leney se narmi kitni.. My apologies.
(contd) hai garmi kitni, sangeymarmar ki tarha saqhth badan mein mere,aa gayee hai choo leney se tere narmi kitni" .I think the poet has said more or less what has been said in Bhigey honth tere, albeit more romatically and in more restrained way! Don't you agree?
antariks! I am not sure whether art follows life or life follows art! Our youths think that it is cool to follow the west. The romanticsm of Keats,Wordsworth and Byron are the things of the past in Britain and the western world. Alama Iqbal has said, "Husn bhi ho Hijab mein aur Ishq bhi ho hijab mein" .Love's beauty and intensity is enhanced only if it is kept under a garb. Look at this Sahir's expression of love, "Aanch deney laga hai pairon kay thaley burf, aaj jaana ke mohabbat mein ..(contd
It's interesting to note how the poetic way of expressing "Virah" or "judayi" has changed so radically with time! Compare," Ab tho aaja ke ab raat bhi so gayi ,zindagi dard key sehraon mein kho gayi.....etc with a modern poem on a similar situation from the film 'Murder" Viz: - " Bhigey hot therey Pyaasa badan mera ,kabhi ek raat mere saath guzar, tujhey subha thak karoon my pyaar...etc!
Though I share the same pain, however we should not forget that songs become hit more based on music.... Lyrics makes it immortal... if lyrics is poor (Like the example you gave), you can't enjoy it every time
Fake I am more then 50% sure...its not him its not the original soundtrack from the film, the voice is stiff , hard, not mellow and soft which was TALAT's defining feature..even the intsruments sound different..Please someone shed some ligt on this !!

Its really a shame that a lyric such as "kabhi ek raat mere saath guzar, tujhey subha thak karoon my pyaar" are becoming popular in India.
