can we please activate some of those 16' pipes on the organ...its too bland and lacking of character from the organ part, the trumpet was stellar, but the organ part needs bass substance, other than that it was pretty good =)
It was definitely a Bb Picc tuned in A. Unfortunately, had just come from playing the Hindemith for Trumpet and the 3rd mvt from the Presser Suite on two different trumpets. Horn was a little cold and thus out of tune. Only played for about two months before recital and didn't practice regularly. Could've been better.
Maybe, only if you were a 30 year professional, I found nothing wrong with your performance other than a minor tempo? issue at 3:00, so what! it's a lovely bright piece, one of my favorites, the organ and trumpet go well together and it takes guts to play to an audience so never sell yourself short for minor mistakes or stupid comments certain idiots posted here made- lets see them record a better performance!
This was an amazing and mature performance especially in view of her age. The picc is very difficult to play in terms of pitch and intonation. Her was a performance definitley one to be proud of. Very gutsy in front of an audience.
The picc would most likely have been a Bb instrument tuned to A (natural) with an extended leadpipe that would have put her in F and the organist in D. Trumpet and organ is a great combination.
She is quite excellent for her age. I would suggest using a C trumpet to play this because it just has a much thicker sound and it would match with the organs tonality as well. Piccs tend to be out of tune if you do not get a top model. Good performance and keep playing.
It's difficult to get great tone from a pic trumpet, she does a lovely job! A different Trumpet Voluntary than I remember from when I played a lot, but there are several different ones out there.
Um... tone needs a lot of work but then again it is hard to play on a pic but i've heard really good tpt players get a really good sound out of the pic.
There are several versions of T.V. just as there are different versions of just about every trumpet and organ song. This is very well done. Makes me proud as a former trumpet player.
Hey!!! You guys don't be rude!!!!!! This is the Trumpet Voluntary by John Stanley. Not the same Trumpet Voluntary from Henry Purcell! And she did a magnificent job! FOR YOUR INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do your homework before you post sarcastic comments! It's the famous Trumpet Voluntary by John Stanley. Just because you never heard it doesn't mean it isn't a real piece of music!
this musta been that 20 percent cause i promise this one was pitched in Bb (or has the ability to be). I will upload a video of me playing it if you don't believe me.
oh i absoulutly believe you, but you said more than likely so i figured you didnt know and where geussing, in which case, more than likely would apply to d/Eb. are school has a piccolo with 4 bells and slide sets that can be Eb/D/Bb/F
its nice alot of people are buying the conversions to save $
Good job, but continue to practice and refine your technique. Remember, the peices composed by Purcell and the other great composers of Baroque trumpet music knew the instruments of THEIR day, not ours. This can sometimes make our job more difficult, but I see great potential for you.
Was there a sudden tempo change at about 3 minutes as a result of a little nervous performance glitch or was it something in the video itself getting hung up? I've saved it to my drive- I like the piece, great performance and great combination of instruments.
I performed this piece with a soloist, and this was the registration I used below. The organist did need to make the pedal stronger because the bass line keeps the tempo, which is vitial to the piece. Just try this next time.
For the organist, try this registration. I think it suits the piece excellently. This also will help in the bass line to be stronger and help keep tempo.
The diapason, a.k.a. principal, being the foundation of the organ, can also be referred to as a foundation stop. As for families of pipes there are at least four: principals, flutes, strings and reeds.
Hmm - you wouldn't by any chance be fantasising about what that piece might sound like if she played it using the lower end of her alimentary tract instead of the upper - now would you?
This John Stanley voluntary(arranged for organ solo on three staves) is published by Oxford University Press. His voluntaries, originally written on two staves, are available from another publisher. This piece was played at one of my commencements...
Overall, pretty good. The organist needs to play with a more march type style. remember this piece is a stately march. The key to this piece is not how fast you play it, but how crisp and controlled it is. The soloist, needs to play more march type. Trills were good. The organist's registration for this piece was a little too "in your face", possibly in the pedal consider adding a soft reed.

The organist knew what he was doing by not using a lot of 16' tone. Its characteristic of organs from the time the music was written.
