  • That is terrible.... I like the video

  • Comment removed

  • 8 Years later and people still remember this amazing horse. How could we forget , of course? When it comes to competitive people, I do not mind when I get a glare or mean comments. I ignore them. But when things like THIS happen, its unreal. How would that person like being injected w/ poison and dying? All because of jealousy and hatred..

R.I.P. CH Wild Eyed And Wicked!

  • ahh this video still makes me cry:'(

  • No matter how competitive one might get, I can't think of their mind set to poison this beautiful horse....just sick.

  • Horse killers should be shot on sight.

If I were that owner... Id have on hell of a "death list"

  • The three people who disliked this video were probably the three people who comitted this awful crime!

  • @YTEquestrianTeam I agree.

  • Sick just sick......I hope the people who did this know that they are going to hell...

  • I thought it was a bad batch of cobra venom injections for pain gone horribly wrong, right before a major competition. No one got in trouble for it, but correct me if I'm wrong?

  • I cannot believe this....how on God's green earth could/would some one do something so hideous. What an amazing animal.......!! I hope these people were caught and given their justice. Blessings to the horse's family.

  • that's my year book and TV in the second image....

  • It's so sad what people do out of spite and jealousy.

  • Thats so horrible! A horse cannot defend itself :( I hope whoever did this suffers greatly.

  • ive known about this for awhile.

i wonder if they ever caught the guy.

& ive seen this alot & each time i cry.

    RIP.

    <3

  • I watched this video with my mom and it made her cry. It's a lovely tribute for a great horse.

  • sadly this kind of thing has happened before..many,many years ago with Tomboy Rickie at the AQJHA world . She lived .. a youth mare no less..... The worst part of this here was that it was either someone from a rival barn or a rival within the barn.. It was no stranger, there was a motive there.

  • How can anyone do such a horible thing to an a defenseless animal? Imagine they would probly do this to another human being. Have they yet found the people who di dthis? i would like to know.

    Thenks Jake

  • No, unfortunately they never found out who did it.

  • @heyblondiehey - jealous people do dreadful things to animals the horse is the noblest of animals ...

police couldnt catch a cold ..after all its not a perso. I feel your pain as a saddlebred here was killed that I was very close to ..he was an amaizing Palomino stallion And the cowards cut his throat ... they got away with it.. he was the most gentle horse .. he played with the kids and won a grandroyal champion stallion.. and died a young horse... before his time jealous people .. cowards.

  • I saw Wide Eyed & Wicked once, and I never will forget him. I am a Show Mom and this tragedy broke every heart at Dixie Stables. I cried when I saw this video although it is now several years later. I now see Wide Eyed & Wicked and the other horses galloping in silky green grass, jumping streets of pure gold, and prancing in crystal clear rivers with hearts full of eternal love for those who loved them enough to let them go...only for a little while...you WILL see them again.

  • So sad to see this kind of thing happen. This turely was a great horse and a shining example of the majestic beauty of his breed. I used to live on a saddleseat breeding farm in NC and I handled WGCH Lady Galyda almost every day. I love this breed and saddle seat I want to persue saddleseat more. Rest in green pastures and Rack on "Wicked" Rack on rack on

  • Sooo sad to see a horse give it's all.. and be an amazing horse, and to have such a horrible thing happen. My hearts go out to all the lives this horse touched!! :(

  • o god. they even forund out who did that. i hope they posioned him!

  • this horse was perfect in every dingle way, a horse we all still remember.

  • I never knew this happened. Such a horrible thing!! I used to work for a man that trained him, Ed Cockriel. That man can train a piece of shit to shine like gold, he's so good.

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO MEMORIAL!

I remember when this happened I was absolutely beyond apalled, beyond anything verbal. Even now I can't put into any words exactly how disgusted, and mortified that these lives were not only ended too soon, but with such cold, calculating disregard for the animals.

These "gifts" were given to us to enjoy and admire yet were so callously taken away.

Im not a religious person by any means, but I hope whomever did this rots in hell and never knows peace.

  • poor baby :( he was beautiful

  • it is so wrong that people would do that to such a great and talented horse. this makes me so sad. it made me think about my horse and if anyone ever did that to him i would make them regret it. i really hope they found the person who did this.

  • i hate the stupid people who did this.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

  • I must be living under a rock. The ASB world has lost the best! Whomever is responsible for this crap should be shot right between the eyes. RIP.

  • He wasn't owned by John but he was trained by him for a little while.

  • John Wallen is a bad person

  • @horselvr22 What does John Wallen have to do with this? thanks.

  • It made me sick when I heard 'Wicked' was killed. I actually rode him once when he was young and owned by John Wallen. He was an awesome boy with an amazing heart and personality!

  • Wicked was never owned by John Wallen. He was sold in utero to Dr. Mossman by Katy Thibodeaux who was his real breeder - but because she hadn't finished paying for his dam, David Mountjoy is listed as his breeder.

  • Dr. Mossman & James Lancaster worked him until his 4 yr. old year where he showed in pleasure driving at L'ville, but took the gate because he came unglued. He was then sold to Dave Clarke and Eddie Cockriel worked him. From there, he went to Mike & Liz Martin's barn in California where he had a couple of owners and then wound up in Dena's barn.

  • omg thats awesome! i miss him he was one of my favorite saddlebreds :( rip

  • I am so sorry about this, my friend showed it to me and we both almost started crying... When did this happen? What were the other horse involved? I am so sorry!!! :(

  • Whoever killed this horse, they should be ashamed of tehmselves for killing a Champion :(, but you know what he's not really dead, he's alive right in all our hearts

  • Great video tribute. He was an INCREDIBLE athlete-Majestic. Such a shame. The person who did this is EVIL, SICK and HEARTLESS.

  • I asked my trainer if she knew anything about this death, and she seemed to think that this horse's trainer injected him and the other horses thinking that it would boost their performance, but it led to their demise. It is truly tragic. RIP Wicked.

  • I wonder why on earth your trainer would think anyone would think injecting acid into a horse's pasterns would boost their performance! Goodness me!

  • Umm...I'm fairly sure that my trainer didn't think that...I said that she had heard that Wicked's trainer believed that would boost his performance.

  • i thought it was other people who wanted to eliminate the competition. poor wicked!!! such an amazin horse

  • R.I.P.

    -From a loving fan

  • This is a wonderful video. It definitely made me cry. He was such an amazing horse.

  • sick, can't believe people could do that!

  • I remember when this happen it was heart breaking. Wonderful video and song, made me cry all over again. Thanks!

  • wow he was so buetiful that is sooooooooo sad!

  • i was there when that horse went 5 gaited world champ for the last time. his death is a great loss..

  • omg i was so mad when that happened!!! how could someone do that?!???!

  • omg i am trying so hard not to cry! thats so awful! i had no idea thats what happend to him. God bless.

  • RIP Wild! The saddlebred world will NEVER forget you D:

  • Thanks for making this great tribute! Wicked was an amazing horse!

  • Wild Eyed and wicked was a true american saddlebred. he was elegant and high headed and never backed an ear. R.I.P. WICKED

  • So sad!! Wild Eye and Wicked was my fav horses!

  • That is so sad. I cried when I seen that. I'm new to the saddlebred world and when I saw that I just want to hold my ranger and other horse close and thank god that they are with me still and I pray that the people who did this will be find. But reminber that they will pay for it if not in this life but the nexts. And I'm very sorry for your lost.

  • omg this is so sad that sombody would do this to sally and wicked just cause they wanted the horse to be perfect

  • The first time i watched this i cried and held a picture of my saddlebred for a hour praying for his saftey from monsters that do this God Bless Wild Eyed and Wicked and the other horses

  • the people that did this should suffer the pain that this beautiful animal did

i feel a deep hurt for the owner. :(

the first time i watched this i started to cry

i showed it to my friends and we all started crying

  • oh poor Wild eyed as i said i not a big horse fan but i'm trying not to cry (i'm also Sammyace11)

  • And by the way, you don't need to post on a good Saddlebred even if they are trotting.

  • I am usually not rude on these sort of sites, but Aristolvr, you are an ignoramus. That horse is RACKING, not trotting, and you cannot and would not ever post a rack. It's not a diagonal gait. Maybe you should take a few lessons on a gaited horse? Or just be quiet if you don't know what you're talking about.

  • This video makes me so sad. I remember when that happened, I was like 13 and I was at a Morgan barn at the time. If anyone ever did that to my ASB I don't know what I would do. :-( RIP!

  • this video is soo great...i hope that one day the person who did this 2 whicked feels the pain that he had

  • this video is soo great!! i seriously cant stop watching it. if i ever did this, i could never life with myself, even today. i really dont know who could have that small of a heart to be soo jealous to kill a poor horse just because hes a world champion. but anyway...great video =]

  • Does anyone know why the Lopez's suied the Johnston's, Wicked's owners, shortly before Wicked's death? I am curious but have yet to find the answer...

  • i remember when this happened. i was new to the saddlebred world then, but i remember my trainer being devastated. it's such a tragedy, even today, years later reflecting on it. i can't imagine a person who would ever intentionally harm any creature, let alone this champion.

  • My uncle trained Wild Eyed and Wicked.....I love that horse....I dislike animal abusers...:(:(:(

  • who was your uncle??

  • Oh my uncle that trained Wild Eyed and Wicked??...Oh..Well than that would be my uncle Paul Snyder..

  • ohh he must have come be 4 dena and dave lopez because they were the last ones to ever train him. lol

  • this was such a tragedy and sad blow to the saddlebred community.

  • I think pleatec13 was talking about someone poisoning them

thats horrible. who would poison such and amazing horse

  • ya I know, I was replying to someone on the other page who tought the trainer or something like that poisoned him...

  • what kind of heartless loser would take a horses life? this makes sick :(

  • Such a wonderful and talented horse...he is still honored today at the American Saddlebred world chhampionships.

  • i not a big horse fan my friend told me to watch it but i'm trying really hard not to cry i hate animal abusers! :(

  • What a beautiful and a very emotional memorial video, I'm still crying..

  • I know this was a long time ago but did they ever find the person who did this?

  • We miss you very much Wicked, you will always be in our hearts and in our minds and memories forever- Rack on dear champion!

  • Who & why did they poisoin him ? makes me cry, i love animals spesh horses

  • I dont show saddlebreds, i show arabians but to see such a amamzing horse this must heart and talent, for someone so haertless and curel to hurt an animal like him is beyond me. Rack on wicked. you really were a loved horse

  • ino its sounds really stupid buh even though there sposed to run round like it it still makes me laugh wen they cnater:D buh this is so sdad and it just shldnt be done and it was absolutley disgusting x

  • He's was an absolutley gorgeous horse and didn't deserve that cruel fate. The American Saddlebred world and many more will miss you Wicked... rack on!

  • That's so sad!:( Who would want to POISEN an animal? I hope the person who did that relized what they did and punished themselves severly. I would never be able to live with that on my shoulders for the rest of my life.

  • I grew up showing Saddlebreds, and I find it heartbreaking that someone would harm one of these beautiful animals. I am sorry for your loss--this made me cry.

  • R.I.P CH Wild eyed and Wicked

  • Oh this was so horrible, RIP Wild Eyed, you are a hero

  • the horse world can be such a unpredictable place and it can be a very unforgiving place aswell but atleast you had the chance to know him and watch him reach the top.

  • heartbreaking

  • god, i agree wit the kid below me.

i mean these ppl are idiots !

IF U DON'T NO ANYTHING ABOUT SADDLEBREDS ND U DON'T RIDEM; DON'T CUZ WE DON'T DO THAT TO MAKE THEM TROT HIGHER !

    gosh. !

  • omg. all of you are idiots! they still dont know what it was the 5 horses were injected with! if it was cobra venom.. they would ALL be dead! it was a substance that destroyed the tissue in their leg. and it was not Wicked'd old trainer.. durr.. cuz how could she have done the other 4 horses.. that were owned by different people.

ALSO.. we in the saddlebred world do not inject our horses with ANYTHING to make them tort higher!

If you are not in the saddlebred world.. STAT OUT!

  • Im confused cuz I have a article that says that Wild Eyed and Wicked and a few other horses were injected with somekinda poison. Why would people do something like that. They should have camera of who was at the barn.

  • Some trainers use it to help with aiding pain in lame horses. Plus it can not be detected in drug testing. Either the trainer did it to their horses, got a bad batch or used too much, or there really was foul play at hand.

  • It was Cobra Venom.

  • great video he was an amazing horse!!

  • Beautiful video.

  • i have seen this at least 10 times and each time i cry.

  • me 2

  • sad storyy.. ilove ASB

  • never seen this before, so touching for such an amazing horse!

  • i cry everytime i watch this video! & at louisville when they played that video with the song All that Jazz & they showed his picture i screamed as loud as i could and i was crying!!! he was awsome!!!

  • its so sad

  • I love this video!!! It makes me cry so bad but I still love it!!!

  • Rack on, wicked, rack in

  • It ticks me off to know people actually do that, R.I.P Wicked.

  • that is the saddest thing in the world

  • one of the saddest things ever to happen to one of the greatest saddlebreds

  • I don't even know why someone would have the reason to do something to a horse..let alone a horse like that. He really was an amazing horse

  • it's just so sick what people do. he was a amazing horse

  • thats so sad. :..( Why would someone do that out of greed or low self esteem...

  • wtF does self esteem have to do with it, dumbass?

  • That's just discusting what some people would do just to win... rip

  • The people who do things like this must be sick. How could you ever hurt a living animal out of greed? It's horrible.

  • What was the point of poisoning the horses? They did absolutely nothing, except give love to those who cared about him. It's unfortunate, but it's better to be in Saddlebred Heaven then down here suffering.

  • It Was The Trianer Who Did It...To Make Him Trot HIGHER.

  • oo that is soooooo bad i would never do any ting like that .... that is soooo bad i feel bad 4 the person who owned that horse

    :-(

  • it wasn't the original trainer.. it was a diff. trainer she sent himm to and he went lame and she wanted him to look normal and didn't inject it right... itss soo sadd that she was that stupid..

  • honey dena lopez did not do this! if any 1 ever says anything bad about dena i will kick the shit out of u she is an awesome trainer & better than yours so stop bein jealous of mine bitches

  • It wasnt the trainer! geez someone got into the barn and injected them proly some one who was unhappy abt wicked's wins & all of the other horses wins!

  • Who would ever do that, it makes me soooo mad, If I caught someone doing that.. ugh.. I would turn them in, and if the horses died I would tell the judge they need the death penalty, too.

  • - sigh - Some people need to be banned from, you know, living. And anyone who'd poison any horse - even your average day hack - should just be culled off. Maybe I'm extreme. Meh.

  • Beautiful...that's all that needs said

  • What an amazing tribute.

  • I saw Wicked win at Louisville for the second time. He was amazing....that is a wonderful tribute to him. ~Sarah

  • This is a beautiful tribute to a truly amazing horse. Rack on, Wicked, rack on.

  • Totally gorgeous animal; the look of eagles ....

  • Humans can be so cruel, such gorgeous animals... :(

  • Wonderful tribute video for an incredible animal! This clip was my introduction to Wicked's tragic story, and I'll never forget how shocked I was the first time I saw it. I hope that whoever is responsible for this heinous act will get what they deserve - I think a shot in the leg of whatever stuff they used on the horses is appropriate. RIP Wicked, Kiss Me and Prince Charming. To the two survivors Cat's Don't Dance and Sassational: You are heroes. I wish you all the best.

  • I am crying.. :'(

  • Wonderful Horse, Sad time for all involved!

  • Like Man O'War, Secretariat and oh so many other true Great Ones, Wicked caputred our imagination and inspired us. In doing so, he has earned immortality and will forever live on in our hearts. Heaven is a brighter place for our loss. God bless you Wicked and God Speed to all those who knew and loved him. Thank you for posting such a gorgeous video. It is perfect and makes me want to immerse myself in Saddlbreds. What a glorious breed of horse.

  • omg. :[ i remember watching this horse show at some the shows i was in. i remember watching Wild Eyed & Wicked the first time while i was at my first horse show with CH chalkboard (who died of cancer :[) omg. this breaks my heart....who ever did this is a stupid bitch.

  • I don't think I truly understood it until just a few days ago. It's realy real that he's gone. I'm so glad to see someone to rember these beautiful animals I grew up with. I was still riding at Win Gait Stables when this happened, and I had horrible dreams about Reba, Lucky, and Jack being poisoined like those five were. I miss riding them so much now, maybe I can convince my mom to let go back to Win Gait and ride at Twin Oaks too. I finally cried on this time of watching it.

  • Omg, this is wonderful. I got to see Wicked perform one time at a show in Kentucky. He was so wonderful. A five gaited horse many foals strive to be. All those poor horses... oh know, now I'm crying. Fantastic work

  • I absolutely love this video. Now everytime I listen to "World's Greatest", I think of the poor horses. Rack on!

  • This is still really sad,

  • When this happened I was heart broken. This video brought me to tears. I am the proud over of two very happy and healthy American Saddlebred who love every second they spend in the show ring. I cant belave anyone could have done something like this..

  • Go to hell hwo ever did this one hell of a horse

  • one hell of a horse -- gives me chills watching it

  • lma09er the song is called "The Worlds Greatest" by R.Kelley. And this video brought tears to my eyes. Such magnificent animals. :(

  • all this negativity...it's true our horses naturally carry their heads high, as well as their high stepping legs. In our barn we Never "snap or pinch" tail bones or apply any other cruel mythical practice. These horse are athletes, naturally gaited, and bred for high endurancce. So it would be appreciated "Dyers Eve" if you would not make such general accusations.

  • wow this makes me sad. i never got the chance to see him perform, but when i read this article in one if my horse magazines, i was totally shocked. RIP wicked, rack on!

    whats this song?

  • Do you know what this song is called?

  • DyersEve, please don't make blanket accusations like that. ASBs are not treated badly, or tortured. Also the most comfortable place for the rider to sit (for the horse!) is over the hips, where most of their power and impulsion is. My ASB gaits in his pasture! And anytime he wants to show off when we're out riding the trails. At least he doesn't get forced to drag his nose in the dirt and stumble miserably along like some of the Western set is training their Pleasure horses. Rack on, Wicked!

  • Dyerseve you don't even know what you are talking about. you think that saddleseat and our high stepping horses.. well what about jumpers is that natural? or race horses how they bute there horses before they show. tenn. walkers? dressage? american saddlebred are born high stepping and none of the horses in the video are at all under weight. i have two show horses of my own and they are never abused! they are willing to step high and carry their heads that way.

  • Yeah It's Sad This Horse Died, But Even Sadder That Thousands More Have To Live And Suffer The Abuse That Many Saddlebreds Are Forced To Endure All In The Name Of "Beauty"

  • You Think Thats Sick? Why Don't You Take A Look At The Way Those Poor Saddlebreds Are Trained, It's On A Level With Rollkur, It's Sick, Any One Who Thinks A Horse Being Ridden Like That Is "Beautiful" Understands Very Little About How A Horse Should Be Ridden. Their Backs Are Hollow, The Weights Put On Their Hooves Utterly Brutal, Their Riders Sitting On The Weakest Part Of Their Backs.

  • Wat are you talking about? Have you even ever ridden saddleseat? These horses are not abused. The training is like lifting weights or working out. IT DOES NOT HURT THEM!!! I;v been riding saddleseat for 4 years so i should know...

  • Dryerseve- not all horses are trained with weights, certainly none here. the riders sit on the proper part of their backs to allow them to move at their natural pace. do not stereotype until you know what you are talking about.

  • I had the opportunity to see "Wicked" at his final World Champion performance in Louisville, Kentucky.

I will never forget this evening.

  • "You know the world has come to it's darkest hour when greed and jealousy overtakes heart"

that is forever my favorite quote. Why someone would want to destroy any animal is beyond me. This is sickening. Rack on, Wild Eyes & Wicked, wherever you show ring may be.

  • Wonderful movie but so sad.

  • this made me cry..literally...oh god..

  • people make me sick and its sad how our horses cant even be safe in there own stalls I think now at shows im going to sleep in the barn with my horses

  • One of the greatest Saddlebreds ever. And someone was so afraid of the competion they decided to get rid of those 5 horses. How could anybody in the horse world have the heart to do that

  • OMG that is such a horibble crime i mean WTF people if you can't handle the competion than don't compete!

and what is that song called??

  • What a talented horse.

    I cried while watching that.

Who could do such a thing?

  • I truly could not keep my eyes dry while watching this video..what a devestation to all of us in the saddlebred world and non. I loved watching wild eyed, and he will be in our hearts forever at Walnut hill Stable in Cape Elizabeth Maine

  • that was SO upsetting i dont understand how or why someone would ever do that

  • that was THE most AMAZING horse I have seen. I've have loved that horse for years... its so sad how competative so people get... RIP Wicked, and the two other horses who where euthanized

  • i have been riding and showing american saddlebreds for six years. i only got to see wicked show one time, but it was soo amazing!! sally jackson (the owner of wicked) and i wrote back and forth shortly before the poisoning. i remember how sad i was when i heard wicked had died. then, on july 8, my own horse justin died in a barn fire. this was only within weeks of when wicked was euthanized. 2003 was a bad year for saddlebreds.

  • i was eight when the accident happend and I read it in a horse Magazine. I dont think I really understood what you were going through. Now I have a arabian saddlebred of my own and he has let me understand your loss! RIP Wicked

  • tear tear tear tear i cry more and more everytime i watch this hwoever did this to these horses should be injected with something that will kill u and have to sufer like he did omgsh i cannot belive!! i just can tbelive someone would do this some harmless animal especially a world champion !! :(

  • How did u put music on there im desprite

  • wow!! i balled watching this i even put this up on my myspace how could someone!! :((( R.I.P WildEyed And Wicked love yah now and forever

  • I cried when I watched this. I never heard of this story and it makes me sick to think someone was so cruel to these poor horses.

    RIP Wild Eyed & Wicked

  • Beautiful video, depressing story. One of the best horses in history, and one of the most horrible accidents in the equestrian world.

  • Thats depressing. The world has reached the darkest hour. Humanity = Insanity. I am so ashame to be human

  • Wow.. That really happened? The person who posined them, will relize it's a bad thing to do.. the posioner could go to jail for a long time...
