How is an engine judged on how it sounds? you can say a V8 sounds better, but what would make you think that it sounds better?exp. Ferraris are very well tuned and use high quality materials, resulting in high revving. I'd rather have a viper, built for torque and hp. then any other super car, the rest of the competitions engines are designed for being higher on the tach. so the viper will by better from stand still and by the time the others rev up to try to catch the viper it will be gone

@mustangsfc ok sorry if I sound retarded but I have a Celica vvti 140bhp which I've just converted to 4WD and installed suspnesion and brakes. Im looking at performance how do you tune cars to get to this level of performance. I know its possible been to drift events ect. Its more of a show off car NOT RICE. Budget for my engine Im looking at $12,000 such as a Celica GT FOUR 2 litre turbo swap. thats 250bhp but how do you get it from there to something that can take on a Viper

@JeepMan19007 actually there are a few in England its really annoying I keep seeing them near where I live there's a convention/gathering of Viper owners and its like rubbing it in my face that I dont have one lol. I would love a Viper 2 problems 1) Fuel is bloody expensive in this country, so you gott weigh out power with MPG unfortunatly. 2) A Viper is around £5,000 a year for my insurance so yup cant afford one

I'm not an expert, but I do believe it may have something to do with the engine being tuned to certain RPM's and it's idle. Because Ferarri's have the same tone and they're V8's, but only because they wind out much higher. But again, I'm not an expert, so I could care less. But either way, the Viper has a distinct and wicked sound.

even if you make a 1 litter v10 it will sound like this(frequency is the same) and exhaust system only changes the tone and power of the sound but frequency remains(i don't know if i could tell it right or not:D)

@toyoracing89 this is, unfortunatelly, the orinal engine of the SRT/10 viper... More moder viper than the GTS and my favorite, Charger RT 70'. Viper lost it's particular engine sound that looks like a Dragon Roar than a space ship... ahahah. Doesn't sounds great but it still a great car ^^

no this viper has a bore of 103 mm and stroke of 100 mm(833 cc each cylinder)the LS9 in the corvette Zr1 has 103.25 mm B and 92 mm S(770 cc each cylinder)soo the V10 has bigger cylinders

the sound doesnt depend on the number of cylinders...it depends on the exhast system(reducing the vibration)and the water pipes all around the cylinder block..that would reduce the sound
