  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • Rich Mullins --You are for real--Our Lord Has got you now--- Thank you for your beautiful music that Our Lord Blessed you with. Hope to meet you one day in Heaven. I am sure you are singing forever now. Our Lord gave you a BIG HEART.

  • bigjim10011, Please don't come on to any of Rich Mullins' posts and write asinine comments like that. Why don't you listen to what the true man of God is saying and get a clue? Your sarcasm is pathetic....

  • @bigjim10011 ummm??? what???

  • Maravilhoso!!!! Thank you :)))) greeting from Brazil

  • He was the real deal...rest well untill we get to sing together in Jesus's lap....

  • He was so real!!

  • I luv this vid god is awesome

  • good stuff

  • One of my musical heroes. Still miss him today.

  • I learned more about Rich after he died. my loss. But the more i see him through utube and the music tailored (it seems) to comfort us during painful, sad and desperate times! Thank you Lord... Thank you Rich; blessed is the memory of the righteous!

  • My wife and I now live in Rich's aunt house and attend his childhood church. He rests just minutes from here. God was gracious enough to let the ministry of Riich's music continue beyond his death. God bless all who find peace in song.

  • Although I have absolutely 100% belief in any sort of god, especially Zeus and Thor, one definitely has to respect Rich just for the fact that unlike hundreds of other evangelical christians hoard all the wealth they could only get their hands on, he gave away. He truly not only believed but walked the line. Next to there not being any religion at all, I would love for every religious person to be like Rich. A world would be a much better place indeed.

  • @vladbcom Yep, he lived well... unlike hundreds of other evangelicals... out of the how many millions of evangelicals alive today, and the billions that have come before?

All of a sudden the number of bad apples doesn't seem to overwhelm the good when you look at it that way...

  • beautiful.

  • I never got to tell you Rich, but I love you!!! Thank you for your music and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • All MY , i didn,t know he passed away, well, he went home to be with the Lord. But his songs is a message to every man woman boy and girl. The music will live on.

  • Wonderful insight, beautiful song. Thanks for sharing and reminding. Perhaps it's not a coincidence that on this quiet, still morning, a breeze just flowed through my bedroom, rustling papers and sending chills down my spine. God is moving!

  • what an awesome testimony of this man. I always liked this song and it holds more meaning now

  • I LOVE RICH MULLINS SINGING SOMETIMES BY STEP AWESOME SONG

  • step by step GOD lead my life and changing me

  • Amen

  • Thank you for posting this video. Rich changed my life as a teen. I was told we were going to a Christian concert which evoked images of robe clad singers and an organ. When Zion took the the stage and its lead singer, Rich Mullins, played the opening to "Praise to the Lord" one of his hands took over the complicated piano part so the other could sweep the hair out of his eyes. I was gone for Christian music from that day on.

  • @Paperinjerate Would you please keep that to yourself, it kind of bothers me.

  • Rich still inspires me to be more like Jesus. I was so blessed to meet Mitch McVicker last year and to listen to his testimony. Thank you God for living so vividly in these men!

  • rip rich :(

  • Haha, my mom had a TON of Rich Mullins tapes she used to play in the car. I was little so I always yelled at her and said they gave me a headache. Now I see the songs have meaning...they make want to tear up :"). lol. I still don't like Higher Education though...too saxophone-y!

  • This guy was really close friends with my Aunt, when he passed away she was devastated... she used to sing with him on stage... R.I.P Rich.

  • Letting go for dear life... one of the most profound statements about the Christian relationship I have ever heard. It's completely contrary to human's mentality, and, thus, why the action is so powerful in both statement and result. I may falter in my step, but praise God, I'm never beyond His reach... the only grip that matters.

  • From Wikipedia:

On September 19, 1997, Rich Mullins and his friend Mitch McVicker were traveling on I-39 north of Bloomington, Illinois, to a benefit concert at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas, when his Jeep flipped over. They were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the vehicle.

When a passing semi-trailer truck swerved to avoid the Jeep, Mullins, who was too injured to move out of the way, was hit by the truck and died instantly.

McVicker was badly injured but survived.

  • brings me to tears!!! I love You, LORD!!

God Bless you Rich Mullins!! Rest in peace, we miss you!!!!

  • that was a realy cool guy i guss god wanted him back.

  • song starts at 3:33

  • Rich died in a car wreck when he and Becker were thown out of his jeep while driving to a benefit concert in kansas on I-39 on 09-19-97. They were throw out of his jeep and he was hit by a truck that had swerved to miss the Jeep and hit Rich. Mitch McVicker ( Becker) was injured in the wreck but survived. I do agree

Rich's music is annointed and ministers to us for the glory of God.

  • @achildofmercy Beeker isn't Mitch. They're two different people.

  • I love this man! He died in a plane crash. He so loved the Lord! His songs have always ministered to me! I hope this ministers to you!

  • brings me to tears

  • this is great

  • the best part is from 0:00 to 6:57!

  • I have always been impressed by how Rich lived. He gave away all his money really. He had a board of trustees that was set up to give away all his money. He only wanted to live on what the Average American man made which was about $23k\yr. He didn't even want to know how much he was worth or made. He didn't want to know so it wouldn't bother him. I will always remember this awesome Man of Faith

  • God must have really needed him and his talent in Heaven...

    R.I.P. Rich Mullins

  • @LostHighwayFilms Everybody needs God, God needs nobody, not even Rich's Talent.

    It was God-given.

  • @LostHighwayFilms God needs nothing, he gave it to Rich richly.

  • Such a awesome, wonderful song. Praise the Lord, it moved me to tears. Thank you for this awesome video, Amen.

  • Great song by a great brother in Christ! Can't wait to sing it with him in Heaven.

  • rip

  • Wow

  • Anyone know who the band is? Is that Aaron Smith on drums? And I know Jimmy A played mandolin on _A Liturgy..._ but that beret...if it weren't so long ago and if I weren't so old and if my memory weren't so hazy, I feel sure I could identify most of the players here just by sight!

  • i loved this song so much and has been one of the songs that touched my heart when i started knowing Jesus and having a personal relationship with Him...

i was too young and focused on ministry those early years and never knew about this great man and that he's with the Lord now...

forever, this song will remain in my heart!

  • His words are deep...

  • is there another version of this song?

  • @rodjimdx Yes - the original recording (on 'The World as best I remember it volume 2') was played on hammered dulcimer rather than piano. There is one live version with that arrangement on You Tube.

  • @JustJat1 I LOVE that CD! I love all Rich's CD's. I did not hear his music until months after he was killed. Going through a firey season, turning to God and letting go for my life, as Rich said, I found a new Christian station playing lots of Rich's songs.Tthey helped me so much . God used them to nurture and sustain me . Still does. THe version on the CD with the hammered dulcimer and a beautiful orchestra has a beauty that transends earthy music brings me into the presence of GOd!

  • I love Heavy metal such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Cannibal Corpse, Pantera and all the secular music that Christians frown upon but Rich Mullins music I actually enjoy. He is spiritual and doesn't project the "God is 'cool'" with cheezy effects or lyrics. RIP Mullins. The ONLY christian musician that touches me...

  • i didn't think i lost god ......but i guess i did because this just made me find him ....PRAISE GOD !!

  • exelent

  • "God takes the junk in our lives, and makes the greatest art in the world out of it." wow

  • He was one of a kind, He was GODS singer.

  • WOW! That testimonial is truly from the deepest spiritual realm... and yet it is put so simply. I loved this song for a while now. I kinda grew up with it. But this is just something else. Thanks for sharing this. I have plenty to think about for a while. Thanks. :)

  • right before this concert was the last time i saw my great uncle... i miss him greatly

  • I may falter in my steps, but never beyond your reach.

    Love that line

  • Comment removed

  • @ZeldainPark Yeah, I love that line too (I made it the title of my channel)

  • My friend introduced to rich's music about a month before he died in the crash I happened to be listening to radio when they announced that he had died. His love of GOD always inspired me to what GOD wants: a contrite heart (a realistic view of your sin, self). I am so blessed that i was able to find rich's music online and want to thank the person(s) for loading all these videos of rich's best.

  • love This blessed me so !

  • love this ,Rich I would just love to sit down and talk to you, you bless me so had to share !!!!!! God Bless you Bro.

  • @EndTimeEndorphins

I like your thought on things & life but maybe it was the Holy Spirit but he just moved his eyes. . . .from what I could tell

  • @EndTimeEndorphins

I like your thought on things & life but maybe it was the Holy Spirit but he just moved his eyes.

  • Elle est vraiment belle cette chanson.

  • GOD JUST SAID .....I WANT U HERE WITH ME...........AND WEJUST CANT ARGUE WITH THAT..!!!! MAY U RIDE ON THE WINGS OF LOVE

  • Is he the songwriter for this song - love it!

  • @Cathy68074

The verses were written by Rich, the chorus (Step by Step) was written by Beaker

  • GOD lead us step by step

  • I am so glad to see these videos download. I directed these while at LeSEA Broadcasting and got to Rich a "real" man of God...walking as God lead him.

  • God Bless You Rich!!

  • I love how you can tell just how much love for God Rich had poured into this song, he can barely contain the emotion as he sings it. If only we were always this way, in so much awe of our maker that all we can do is weep and praise him.

  • @crosscountrytc Yes, in a lot of church singing now, you can tell it is fake and intended to get attention. Rich was purehearted in his worship.

  • I can remeber when he would go out on stage with just socks on or he would end up kicking his shoes off when he got up there.

  • beautifu song , I love the anlalogy that hes before the song.God gave him great wisdom of his love for us.

  • Beautiful song by a Spirit filled brother. The things he shared are really inspiring and genuine.

  • When I was in the moment thinking that I needed to do something to show God that I love God and tried to make Him more love me, I was wrong. I don't have to do that because GOD IS LOVE ME MORE THAN I EVER WANT! Thank you for sharing the Word of GOD. Be blessed!

  • My sweetheart in High School . . . and have the photos to prove it. Awesome.

  • @DesignDLT Were you the one he wrote Doubly Good To You for for the wedding, then left him and broke his heart, and then he wrote Damascus Road?

  • @Wolkeyfentah . . . no that wasn't me. Richard and I stopped seeing each other when we both went off to college. Lost track as I moved across country.

  • @Wolkeyfentah

The person Rich wrote that for would NEVER make that relationship public in a YouTube comment. I just caution everyone to be careful with claims of people who say they knew Rich. Especially those who say they dated him. RICH was an arrow to God. Anyone who tries to be famous via Rich is an arrow to themselves. Just food for thought...

  • I always enjoy when a fellow Christian finds GOD as a Father, and not as some almighty being that We heard tales about. But HE is a living, moving thing, that lives in US. HE's not Just GOD the Father people, HE is OUR Father. And I believe that as bein His children we should speak to HIM and of HIM liken a child to his/her mortal father.

  • Hearing him speak here I think he has the same problem most people have. Their idea of God isn't actually about God. It's a reflection of themselves and their own thoughts. It has nothing to do with who God actually is. It's just a guess based on who we think some creator would be. Rich could be totally off in that regard. But he was totally on with his sentiment.

  • nice oberservation from you. but i think Rich said that because he experienced God in a more deeper and personal way.) He expresses what he had felt deep within....Thank you:)

  • He was so cool. I'm not really into his beliefs, but he had a good spirit and tapped into human understanding. I like his take on a bit of anti-mainstream thinking.

  • Hey lawvere, "Step by Step" was a chorus written by Beaker (Rich's best friend) and recorded on The World as Best As I Remember It Vol.1 cd and "Sometimes By Step" is an expanded version of it. It has verses as well as the chorus and has slightly different chords. It's on World As I Remember It Vol. 2. Both Rich and Beaker are credited with writing it. Hope this helps you out.

  • Thanks partner. Step by step is in my church's hymn books and i looked it up here on youtube to try to get a little more familure with it. I kept finding sometimes by step and just got curious about the history of the song. Its beatiful either version i think.

  • could anyone tell me what the difference between step by step and sometimes by step is? I love the song, i just don't know what the difference is.

  • Yep, it's Mitch McVicker and the Ragumuffins: Rick Elias, Aaron Smith, Jimmy Abegg, and Mark Robertson.

  • Is that Mitch McVicker on background vocals? Looks a lot like him, anyway.

  • Miss you much,Rich!

  • I just love his speech before. So beautiful. Wonderful songwriter.

  • I wish more people understood the Jesus that Rich presented........

  • Rich Mullins truely was a man after God's own heart - just as were the saints of old.

  • he may not be any longer with us but his music and and words and soul will live on for EVER!
