ft3161, obviously not every single Atheist feels and says the same things but I have, in my own personal experience, ran into many folks who say such things. Also, when folks expect Christians to not support Christian ideas when in office are indirectly doing this.
Many Christians also quote the term "Separation of Church and State".
You said "Morales have everything to do with legislation"
You cannot legislate morals in a free country, you have the right to live your life as you choose but you do not have the right to push people in a moral direction you think they should go in. This is a free country.
Dryteethsaneman, morals are always being legislated. What is moral for one group is immoral for another, somebody "wins", somebody "loses". For instance, right now abortion is legal and therefore "acceptable" within some folks moral scope. Some of us think taxing people to death is wrong, because it is stealing. That is immoral. My point is one cannot separate morals from governance. We cannot avoid legislating morals, again, who's morals are we legislating? That is the question.
Our Founders were smart. Surely smart enough to say in English what they meant.
Amazing how atheists can take this one line to mean 1000 different ways.
