If you do artwork that is all about what you want to do that just means you're an artist. Doing art for money means you're a professional (ex: Andy Warhol.) You seem to believe that trying to sell your art is selling out...good luck surviving as an artist.

Being underground is not something that you pride yourself on, it either means you suck or you're ahead of your time. Artists have to find a balance between supporting themselves and doing what they love. We all have to do things we don't want to but we learn more about the world by doing so. I've drifted away from my point: Commercialism is not a bad thing.
