to make this book into a movie is probably a nightmare in itself, the sheer scale of some of those stories is just ridiculous production wise, like cruise ships in the ocean with thousands of zombies falling off, or the battle of yonkers with soldiers fighting millions of zombies spilling over freeways, they'd better have a big and i mean BIG budget or this movies gonna suck!!!!!

I mean I am reading it at the moment and I am 15 and I would consider myself to be pretty mature and this book pretty much garauntees a nightmare every night and sometimes I can't get to sleep either coz there's a possum outside athe window that sounds just like a zombie...but the book is a really good read, even if it is scary.

Yeah, sure there's swearing, but that's not why I wouldn't recommend it. It's a culturally horrific book. It's got violence, gore, and cultural references that honestly, a 10yo couldn't appreciate. Wait till he's older and let him read it. It's a brilliant book and deserves to be appreciated as more than just a story.
Thanks, I just started reading it and wow is it gory, and I'm only on page 26! I've also already found at least three sentences that I would consider inappropriate for my son (that doesn't even include the gore which could very well give him nightmares.) I am a little surprised that anyone would have recommended this book my son even though he loves scary stories and reads at an eighth grade level or higher. But at least I am enjoying the book. Yea the majority of their body is gone but they still pose a threat.
Although the zombies in the book are tough as nails, he's right the liklihood of a human body surviving something of that magnitude explosive wise is small. If it was real life there woldn't be but bits and pieces.
I have read the book about five times since I got it. I try to read it when its really cold outside it makes me feel better that they freeze in the winter. I just recently bought the audio version and its amazing. I am in my car listening to the disc terrified beyond belief. This should hold me til the movie comes out.
I think a WWz video game would be great if it were based off the "Alpha squads" of the book. That would be pretty sweet, considering they were just small groups of soldiers going in to clear an entire infected city most of the time.
i would think tht game would end up like a rts since the book has some rather big encounters with the zombies like the rockies bit and the line battle thing towards the end of the book.
yeah rts would be good and rts w/ turn base just like empire total war would be better, but FPS would be much better, more like fallout 3 except it has a zombie apocalypse theme, inspired by the book. more on looting for food, ammo weapons, etc , Barricading, exploring, and leveling. (if havent played dead frontier it is just like this and it is an a free MMORPG you zombie fans must play it and support it its a gear zombie game)

Actually the earlier statement about civilians fighting zombies with the Guide in their pockets wouldn't make sense in the plague times of the book. It hadn't been written in the timeline of the book until after the reclamation. That and the survival guide basically tells you to avoid zombies at all cost and only combat them personally if there's no other option.

Thanks, I just started reading it and wow is it gory, and I'm only on page 26! I've also already found at least three sentences that I would consider inappropriate for my son (that doesn't even include the gore which could very well give him nightmares.) I am a little surprised that anyone would have recommended this book my son even though he loves scary stories and reads at an eighth grade level or higher. But at least I am enjoying the book. Very interesting reading...

Indeed, It would seem that my little brother was the one who recommended the book to you.
The book is recommended for the age of 14 and up but only if the child is strong enough to absorb the upsetting parts. However Parental Advising is Strongly Recommended.

im 14 and reading it and it has a bunch of cussing and to tell you the truth its pretty scary makes you paranoid especially with the swine flu and seeing people wearing masks around definetly just creepy if you think he can deal with it yes if not read it first

Yes a World War Z is in the making. Rumor is Brad Pitt is in it.
It is supposed to come out in either 2010 or 2012 (part of the end of the world in Dec 2012).

You know World War Z was awesome, but it kind of sucked. I mean let us be realistic. Our weapons would have decimated the zeds.
I mean take what Brooks says about steal rain. Then try to find a living Iraqi about it (good luck).
I mean were talking weapons of unimaginable power. That is really the only problem I have with his reading. I mean in all honesty the zeds wouldn't have stood a chance.

Those Super Weapons were designed to kill and destroy Humans and Machines. Not Zack.
Zack is too resilient towards our Powerful heavey Weapons.They have some Gel-like Fluids that make immune towards S.N.T. and the Blast wave of the Explosions.
Which is why the Only way to truly kill Zack is to shoot the head and destroy the brain.
Yea the majority of their body is gone but they still pose a threat.

Although the zombies in the book are tough as nails, he's right the liklihood of a human body surviving something of that magnitude explosive wise is small. If it was real life there woldn't be but bits and pieces.

I have read the book about five times since I got it. I try to read it when its really cold outside it makes me feel better that they freeze in the winter. I just recently bought the audio version and its amazing. I am in my car listening to the disc terrified beyond belief. This should hold me til the movie comes out.

I think a WWz video game would be great if it were based off the "Alpha squads" of the book. That would be pretty sweet, considering they were just small groups of soldiers going in to clear an entire infected city most of the time.

i would think tht game would end up like a rts since the book has some rather big encounters with the zombies like the rockies bit and the line battle thing towards the end of the book.

yeah rts would be good and rts w/ turn base just like empire total war would be better, but FPS would be much better, more like fallout 3 except it has a zombie apocalypse theme, inspired by the book. more on looting for food, ammo weapons, etc , Barricading, exploring, and leveling. (if havent played dead frontier it is just like this and it is an a free MMORPG you zombie fans must play it and support it its a gear zombie game)

Actually the earlier statement about civilians fighting zombies with the Guide in their pockets wouldn't make sense in the plague times of the book. It hadn't been written in the timeline of the book until after the reclamation. That and the survival guide basically tells you to avoid zombies at all cost and only combat them personally if there's no other option.
