what you do if it is still booting :

then plug your i pod ipod into the computer, hold the sleep and home buttons for about 15 seconds, then open itunes and it will say it has detected an ipod in recovery mode.

Follow the restore instrustions from there.

@beepboopbopers You might have a tethered Jailbreak. Try booting it using redsn0w. If that doesn't work put it in DFU mode and restore in iTunes.

@MakeMeLaughComedy You can keep all of your jailbroken tweaks by downloading an app from Cydia called xBackup. It'll backup all of your Cydia tweaks. Just perform a backup with that application, sync with iTunes, update, restore from your old backup in iTunes, rejailbreak, and download xBackup again. Then just restore to a backup that the application lists. For your songs, App Store apps, etc., those will automatically be backed up in iTunes when you sync.

@GoodGameBaller No. The only time you will ever loos your data would be when you perform a restore via iTunes. You shouldn't be worried about this, though, as anytime you sync your device with iTunes it should be backing up your content. You will also lose your jailbreak, unlock, and jailbroken applications/packages anytime you update your firmware (iOS version), so make sure that there is a jailbreak out for the new version of iOS before you update.

@GoodGameBaller No. You will need to rejailbreak and redownload all jailbroken applications because you will lose them during the restore. Contacts, music, App Store apps, etc. will also be lost but you can get them back by syncing with iTunes IF you have synced with iTunes in the past (because every time you sync it'll create a backup).

i have an ipod touch 4g ios 4.1 jailbroken, i installed a cracked application (tunein radio) after it installed it wasn't there i scrolled around the spring board and then it froze, so i pressed the home and sleep button but this happens:

apple logo appears, then there is a little loading icon under the apple sign, then it flashes, shuts down, and tries to reboot again.

If all you get is apple logo here is what to do:

1- shutdown your iphone with the hard reset "home button and power for 10 second"

2- connect the usb cable to the pc but NOT to the iphone"

3- open itunes

4- while the iphone is off, press the home button for 5-10 seconds then plus the other end of the white connection cable into the iphone

5- do not remove your finger from the home button

6- itunes will detect it and you can now restore it

7 You'll need to jailbreak it again
