  • Guess yo guys and gals are missing something ...listen to the music and relax ..

I(f you fail on that...be my guest hahahah

  • After reading comments saying that Sheryl Crow does this better I thought I better have a look for myself. Sorry guys but I don't think her version is a patch on the Chicks , not nearly as strong vocally and it takes about 8 fiddles to produce what Martie and the other girl play. I'll step back and await a slatting now :-)

  • Who is the other fiddle player with Martie ?

  • Hmm have to say...sucks...Have folloswed this girls since the beginning, this really sucks ..and since I like to provoke hahaha...the lead singer probably needs a wheel-chair to move across the stage soon hahha

  • @rover11733 I wonder what you look like yourself, mate.... -.-

  • I'll be back in a sec...gotta puke !!

  • @themaninme thank you for this useless comment....

  • I love the Dixie Chicks but they stole this version from Sheryl Crow- she did it better. And who did it better than both? Bob Dylan. Check them out.

  • @vincentvangogodancer they didnt steal it from her...they sang it with her years ago im sure she doesnt mind them singing it

  • Natalie Maines is friggen bad ass

  • Much better than Cheryl Crowe version & Dylan offered it to her first. Alway thought Dylan may not have been satisfied with the recordings of this song so he recorded it how he wanted it to sound which is phenominal!

  • Love it. Love The Chicks. Waiting for a new album with all three. Who cares sho wrote it? I've never even heard it sung by Dylan.

  • I LOVE Dylan! I would call him a prophet except for the fact that he may be closer to God than that. HOWEVER, do you know who does Dylan better than Dylan? ANYBODY!!!!

  • wow, this is so bad compared to Dylan's version.

Still not bad, but the comparison isn't kind

  • dylan's songs have been covered by more singers(or groups) than anybody in the music biz today.how many times has All Along the Watchtower been covered? but everyone does it there own way so they wont be compared to Dylan. i"ve listened to Sherl Crow, the Chicks and Bobs, version of this song and there all great. dont worry about who has the right" VIBE" just enjoy it for what it is,a really great song.

  • THIS SONG IS AMAZING...DIXIE CHICKS ARE AMAZING. NOTHING BETTER THAN POWERFUL AND TALENTED WOMEN SPEAKING THEIR MIND IN THIS CRAZY WORLD! ROCK ON GIRLS!

  • One of Bob's greats, Can't stop listening to it, and yes, even a soul-less cover of a Dylan song has more in it than 99 pct of pop music today.

  • One of Bob's greats, Can't stop listening to it, and yes, even a soul-less cover of a Dylan song has more in it than 99 pct of pop music today.

  • Dylan wrote this and had a demo recorded and sent it to Sheryl Crow and the Chix and others for sale. Then he recorded his own really great version, which is the only one that makes any sense.

  • actually, that additional fiddle player is not Janna Jacoby. She is Lorenza Ponce. and yes, she looked like she was having a blast playing with them.

  • Emily you're great ! Thanks a lot, love the Court Yard Hounds !

    Sweet voice...

  • In my opinion, one of the most beautiful songs ever written - and performed, masterfully by the Dixie Chicks et al. Thanks to all who put this up for viewing.

  • Dylans version is the best!

  • delivered!!!!

  • Very good interpretation of the Bob's masterpiece

  • Does anyone know the name of the other VIOLIN/FIDDLE player in the green top playing in the band. She looks very happy!

  • @videobuns Her name is Janna Jacoby, she was with the Chicks on their last tour.

  • horrible redneck version of a great poetic dylan song.

  • Your analysis of The Dixie Chick's version is completely nutty.

    And I completely agree!

Even a "soulless" cover of a Dylan song done competently as the Chicks do here is still better than 99% of the new music of the last 20 years.

I simply hope that this clip will help introduce Dylan either to young people, country-western music listeners, and/or MILF fans.

    The more the merrier!

  • @estoppel55

it's funny how everyone gave yer comment a negative response...I guess there are a LOT of pop fans out there? The Dixie Chicks ARE fun & good, there's nothing wrong with them, but I agree with u, this cover misses the vibe completely...I DON'T believe what their singing & it's not that it's soulless, cuz they DEF have soul, but they did take the feeling right out of it...

  • @estoppel55 no body cares what you think...

  • @estoppel55 well....i believe her...just because you change it doesnt make it less of a song, they love the song and wanted to sing it their way why do you have to take it so bad? its not money in the bank they never sold this song they just sang it live in concerts

  • God this is so much better than that old guy singing it...anyone can write this song..thank god the dixy chix sung it and fixed it..

  • @indedome "anyone can write this song" lol idiot

  • @indedome ANYBODY can write it? Right. That's why Bob Dylan's won a Pulitzer and been nominated 8 times for the Nobel Prize for Literature- something no songwriter in history has done, and most likely will ever do. Yes his voice is rough, but the guy gets the emotion and paints the pictures of his songs better than anyone, the only possible exception being "All Along the Watchtower."

  • Is Natalie pregnant here? Or is it just the outfit?

  • One of the Dixie's best for sure. Great instrumentals and vocals.

  • omfg c`mon colbrucefan!

dylan`s version makes me wanna slit my wrists,at least this one has a kickass voice AND a kickass rhythym......

    go dixie chicks!

  • Oh i love this song performed by dixie chicks so much! Emily and Natalie sounds great!!

  • too upbeat, dylan sings it better, this is more inline with sheryl crows version. its a different song.

  • I actually think Natalie and Emily sound better together than when Natalie and Martie sing together. Just an observation. Anyone know why they did that? On several songs when they are performed live, Emily just plays and Nat and Martie sing together.....

  • I love Natalie and Emily combination too. Some songs they sing toghther. Listen to "Easy Silence", you will love it.

  • @mimsbluedebater99 its part of their harmonies, there are a few songs that just Emily sings with her, like Easy Silence, and Godspeed I know of off the top of my head...there are others, watch the DVD "A Evening with the Dixie Chicks"

  • Natalie i really love you from the bottom of my heart. I know it's stupid. but i can't help it

  • I love when they sing this in concert! Love, Love, Love!

  • Much better than Dylan's version, probably the best Dixie Chicks song.

  • Compare this to the simplistic drivel that's on country radio today.

  • I'm not a fan of this band at all but it sounds pretty good. interesting choice of song of his to cover, but it's not bad.

  • they sure made a good song great!!

  • "Well my ship's been split to splinters and it's sinking fast

I'm drownin' in the poison, got no future, got no past

But my heart is not weary, it's light and it's free

I've got nothin' but affection for all those who've sailed with me

My clothes are wet, tight on my skin

Not as tight as the corner that I painted myself in

  • I know that fortune is waitin' to be kind

So give me your hand and say you'll be mine

Well, the emptiness is endless, cold as the clay

You can always come back, but you can't come back all the way

Only one thing I did wrong

Stayed in Mississippi a day too long
