This book is astonish. You can imagine a world without human passions. So, human passions are related to social structures.

By offering the opportunity to those people that used to have not such opportunities, nor probably never would have had those said opportunities of educating themselves, or of even knowing what takes place outside of their incommodious microcosms. Technology has moved certain areas of the world, which before were left far behind, up to at least a closer gradation of normalcy from what they had before.

This is the Twenty-first century people; leave the sixties where they belong---behind.

Man is only a slave to what he himself allows to master him. It is true, however, that technology can be a dangerous thing, I suppose, given the fact that its intentions are not good, but the internet and World Wide Web with their online tutorials, classes, and even teachers have revolutionized education and brought much of hinterland and desolate America into the mainstream.

If 1984 described the furure which turned out to be nearly true, then what will become of our society in about 500 years?

@mynameisreallyrandom Actually, 1984 describes totalitarianism in a socialist state, however it isn't a criticism of socialism, as Orwell was a socialist himself.

@reasonparty thanks x :) but isn't the "brave new world" in the book sort of similar to the "democratic" world that we live in? with all the consumerisim... it just seems like there are similarities there
