HAHAHAHA! Are you kidding me?! Are you actually teaching people to lean their heads forward past the lead leg? They tell you not to do that in every style there is.
i was taught that with my jab i put my front leg forward with my jab then bring back the hand the same speed as i threw the jab...also moving my leg back
seriously. know bodies going to be thinking about in a fight if their jab has 60-80% of their weight on it. and if u get kicked on the shin while your doing a jab like that your going to drop easily. seriously your kcis are a lot better than your punches
@TheTramsen Yeah, sorry for this. My instructor told me my stance was old, but i still lean a lil bit back, cause i'd feel more comfortable when evading kicks. But his jab sure looks weird :S
I'm sorry I don't mean to sound like another "YOUTUBE EXPERT FIGHTER" but like in a real match if he put all his weight on that foot when he jabbed, wouldn't the other fighter notice? Like when he leans in that would be the perfect time to kick since he has the majority of the weight on that leg. Idk just looks like an accident waiting to happen.
@eyuencw You know, it's called "Muay Thai Boxing" for a reason... You use Muay Thai fundamentals, but not all of the strikes because many can cause serious injury.
Some geeza showing the basics of muay thai and what most people can do is slag him of i just gota say it mite look wierd becuase everyone has there own stance or style im a lefty so my stance is reversed but i can switch to either side left or right im comftable with both if you fought me you would think wtf he doin but you would soon no what i can do :D
The traditional Thai stance gets crushed in an MMA setting. What he is showing here is more applicable to a situation where you are threatened with takedowns.
@sabertoothman Andersons stance looks nothing like a traditional muay thai stance. IMO its much closer to boxing than muay thai. I never said that it was straight up western boxing you fools need to learn to read.
@LucasCG13 roy jones jr. is my second favorite boxer and my first is prince naseem hamed but yea did you hear about the possible roy jones vs spider silva after spider silvas contract with the UFC is over?
@sabertoothman actually nothing you say resonates with any kid of credibility because the guy in the video isn't even using a tradtional thai stance. Study MMA a bit more and talk to me. The bottom line if you put a boxer next to a muay thai fighter and asked which one does Silva look like more? - you would probably say the boxer. You'd be crazy to fight MMA with only a boxing stance or only a muay thai stance. Anderson has a mixed stance. IMO its Boxing, Wrestling, muay thai and a lil kung fu
@jokerstylerule. Thank you for pointing this out. This is not Muay Thai. I saw the video on the "Muay Thai Hook" and it is not a muay thai hook it was boxing. Kind of like this one.
@Idealbastard You clearly have no idea what Muay Thai is then. It's a pretty basic punch. Idea being you use your momentum/hips to throw the punch, and a stable foundation to block/kick afterwards. Learn before speaking =]
pause the video evrytime he leans onto his front leg. in this position most of his body weight is on his front leg so when his opponent throws a low kick to his front leg he cant move or block the kick as too much weight is on his front leg. If you are learning muay thai DO NOT take advice from this clowns videos.

my muay thai instructors would argue differently. and putting 60-80% of your weight on your front foot for a jab!?!?!?
there is no reason to ground so much weight for a jab that wont do much damage and will make it much much harder to defend and any leg kicks coming in will be that much more damaging
terrible jab, by shifting ur weight forward it takes a long time to return to your stance, unless there is a follow up attack after every time you jab, that is a stupid thing to do
he is making his front leg very vulnerable to leg kicks, unable to block with that leg and getting a kick with grounded weight like that hurts a lot more than in a decent stance.
and the jab is a distancing punch a lot of the time as well leaning forward like that messes that up.
if i was in the ring and jabbing like that i'd aim to destroy his lead leg
dont like it, dumbest jab ever! even for basic teaching i dont think is the best way to teach beginners punching techniques coz they are gonna have to change it coz that my friends was useless!
your too heavy on the lead leg during the jab. especially in muay thai. your gunna get that leg eatin up. you wanna be light on your feet when throwing the jab. plus your hand are low even for boxing let alone muay thai. pick em up mike tyson, or ya gunna eat some head kicks too.
to clarify some "confused" views. If anyone paid attention, he's showing the BASICs of Muay Thai, starting with the basic punches. OF COURSE it's not going to look like it can knock someone's block off, that's not the point of this lesson. The things you see at tournments or even movies (lol @ movies) are the advanced techniques that are rooted from the basic skills. Ask any accomplished Muay Thai fighter, and the best lesson they had was the basics.
Hulkout666 u r in a mistake, dude. Not only are their punches strong but they elbow hit tough as well. What i didnt know is that they move the centre of weight when punching....i mean this looks rediculous here :S THis is first of all slow and second one moving this way is vulnerable to be easily taken out of solid stance with a single low cick. A far as i know i MT when punching the stance barely changes due to the closed legs stance which is suitable for front-cick deff (Mae geri in karate)
This guy's technique is lousy. In fact, a lot of Muay Thai guys can't punch worth shit. The kicks are good, but their punches and upper body defense suck.
Lol thats not good at all !! sorry but your wrong , your jab is fault ... in a real fight you will be off belance. and plus you have a wide center of open space , to get hit by a counter strike. basically YOU SUCK in demonstration
stance is to wide, get off your heels, raise your hands so there slightly over your eyebrows, both feet should be facing foward with your lead about a half step in front of your back foot, keep your elbows in,hands should be turned so that it looks like your holding a flashlight,ow and you should be making a CHU sound with every punch/elbow/knee/kick(incorporates the diaphram and core muslces with ever acton, also helps for blows to literally bounce off your stomach)
He's punching slowly to be "instructional," and a number of martial artists take a wider stance than a boxer would b/c they find it easier to kick. But the percentages of weight shifts that go to 70-80% are too high. It's only if you're punching completely through the target can you commit such a high percentage. If these were "front push kicks," then I would understand the higher numbers. He should have taken a few seconds to demonstate at real-time speed for credibility.
like jon420 below says, this guy is teaching basics, its incredible the amount of people who have commented on his stance and punches etc. if you read the title it says "THE MUAY THAI BASIC BOXING PUNCH". Im suprised no-one made a remark like "duh, look at how slow he is throwing the punches, i could dodge them" The fact people try to pick holes in his technique just shows lack of experience/knowledge, ive been doing Muay Thai for 7 years and no two people fight the same.
i've been in thailand... and i have never seen the first punch he's teaching... that punch is used on the solar plexus... so it's not against a face...
legs closer breath and pivot is all you need man, turn the shoulder straight jab step into it keep you hand up and chin down thats all man, side jab is an easy transition from that point and a hook is a good follow up, jab cross jesus man what does he know?
Has any of these poeple ever actualy trained in muay thai??? how wide does he want his stance??? leaving his stance that wide could easily put him of balance and makes him vulnerable to getting kicked on the inside of the leg were it will realy hurt. my advice to them is to actualy learn the style before trying to teach it lol.
This is the way different what my Kru teaches me. You're actually not supposed to lean too much in muay thai for punches, because people are more inclined to pull you in and knee you.
this is an instructiona video. he is going at 1/10 speed. of course he would get his leg kicked. he would get kicked in the face too if he fought that slow. also "he looks more mma". that is so wrong. he is holding his hands against his face like a bboxer/muy thai fighter and throwing punches. this is textbook muay thai. MMA you would have your hands out and be perrying the punches away because you can't cover up with the small gloves
hii i'm Alexis, a kinky hot young lady who wait for u in my video chat to spend time together...try ur energy with ME!!!.i enjoy straight as much as i can get it! Turn ons: sex... only sex bb! ;) come watch me baby! my user id Alexis_yoyxfp on ... Play-Cam(.COM) ...
the only time you ever really bend your legs whilst jabbing is if you have just jabbed them and then you want to do a body jab. You only bend your legs then so you can keep the power in your jab!
It nothing to do with muay thai at all. You never move your legs like that when you jab since you always defend yourself against kicks it looks more like a boxing stance then a muay thai stance so no its not a "basic" muay thai punch at all its nothing to do with muay thai!
yeh definatly this guys stance is wrong .. in muay thai the front foot stays on the balls of your toes almost looking like there bouncing there leg.. watch any other video and youl see it!
HAHAHAHA! Are you kidding me?! Are you actually teaching people to lean their heads forward past the lead leg? They tell you not to do that in every style there is.

This is the way different what my Kru teaches me. You're actually not supposed to lean too much in muay thai for punches, because people are more inclined to pull you in and knee you.

Does this guy know what he's talking about? Or is he just sprinkling bullshit dust at us?
Zerlot 3 years ago
he doesn't even talk about breathing ROFL
ahmedzup 3 years ago
this is an instructiona video. he is going at 1/10 speed. of course he would get his leg kicked. he would get kicked in the face too if he fought that slow. also "he looks more mma". that is so wrong. he is holding his hands against his face like a bboxer/muy thai fighter and throwing punches. this is textbook muay thai. MMA you would have your hands out and be perrying the punches away because you can't cover up with the small gloves

tubular2174 3 years ago 2
the only time you ever really bend your legs whilst jabbing is if you have just jabbed them and then you want to do a body jab. You only bend your legs then so you can keep the power in your jab!

shut up!

Taras08 3 years ago
lol that aint muay thai at all if he tryed to hit me like that i would just give him a low kick on his right leg lol
Taras08 3 years ago
perhaps you missed the title...muay thai "BASIC" boxing punch
kylekott 3 years ago
It nothing to do with muay thai at all. You never move your legs like that when you jab since you always defend yourself against kicks it looks more like a boxing stance then a muay thai stance so no its not a "basic" muay thai punch at all its nothing to do with muay thai!
Taras08 3 years ago
then make your own vid and show us some proper muay thai
kylekott 3 years ago
No go to a muay thai gym like everyone else has to! If you want to learn thai boxing wrong stick to watching youtube vids like this ;)
Taras08 3 years ago
i do....just wanted to see your expert skillzzzzz! lota people can say shit but never back it up with a vid.
kylekott 3 years ago
if you do go thai boxing you should know i'm telling the truth this guy looks more like mma then muay thai!
Taras08 3 years ago 2

the stance is too open just imagine a low kick from a strong muay thai kicker into the inside of that leg
ViciousRiceX 3 years ago
That's not even the right stance. Only the spreading of legs was right. It's to drop.
raikoMasato 3 years ago
this aint muay thai u suck
Luciano202020 3 years ago
stance seems to be boxing stance, not Muay Thai!!!
dibbz1 3 years ago
