  • Im chocked TE didnt get mad. I would have flipped.

  • i wish i could play as beautiful as he could....

  • This song is so pure. That is so inspiring that the violinist decided to play along. Purity inspires purity. Think Beautiful thoughts everybody, because you all are beautiful.

  • his intro just tuning up his guitar is even beautiful !!!!!!!!!

  • Outstanding!

  • What an unbelievably humble man.

  • YOU are an inspiration to me Tommy, and Im learning to play this song as well , and I really admire all your creations :D thanks for being such a role model to me :D

  • Angelia Emmanuel is gonna kick Sungha Jungs arse at guitar, time....

  • His voice reminds me of James Taylor's, but nobody can make a guitar sing like Tommy Emmanuel.

  • Why is Mickey Rourke playing a violin?

  • i'm going to my second TE concert in June..if any hobo gets up and starts playing violin i'm going to slice them a new a-hole.

  • @infek7 PMSL :D

  • I saw him last night, and it saddens me. I wish I hadn't gone.

Because it's all downhill from here.

  • @Ryoushadow what do you mean???? was he bad?

  • @randomhouse0800 No, he was so good that everything from now on is going to be less enjoyable than that concert.

  • @Ryoushadow Best comment on a Tommy Emmanuel video!:-)

  • this man he's incredible, he's so pure, so modest, so devoted to the Music...he embody in his person a mix of such a rare characteristics really hard to find in any other guitarist of his level...

that's why I say he's the best in the world, and nobody will never convince me about the contrary.

  • Quando è apparso l'uomo col violino è stato emozionante!!!

  • clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clapclap clap clap clap clap clap clpclap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap all'inifinito !

  • I can't understand this idiotie and complete intolerance of some people who condemn the poor man with his violin ... trying to improvise musically accompany this beautiful song ... as Zappa said: "anywhere, anytime for any reason ... Music is the best !..."

  • The violinist was an epic troll haha, made me laugh quite good.

  • I saw him in SF for the 4th year in a row last Saturday. The Master as always.

  • 6:33 .... Tommy really looks like he wants to go do a few "less than nice" thing to that man. Can you Imagine those big hands mashing you in the face lol

  • The melody is so lyrical, I always wondered if there were words to this song. There certainly could be... After hearing him sing them for the first time here, it all comes together...

  • The violinist could have at least learnt the melody...

  • After hearing his explanation I finally hear the words in the song -

"Angelina don't go too far from me..."

  • What "effin bridge did the troll crawl out from under with his dying cat violin solo??? Sheesh!! He absolutely RUINED T.E's finish - he was visibly distracted. Dang German's in the audience didn't do a thing to stop it either - pussies.

  • What "effin bridge did the troll crawl out from under with his dying cat violin solo??? Sheesh!! He absolutely RUINED T.E's finish - he was visibly distracted.

  • Why no Security-Guy chuck this violin-player out *angry* he destroyed the atmosphere:-( They should collectively destroy his violin

  • wish i could crash that guys skull in with his effing violing D:<

  • Ive heard good shit. and this is some of the most beautiful pieces of music of all time. OF ALL TIME. OF ALL TIME.

  • His daughter is a very lucky girl. : )

  • such class

  • Love this song.

  • there once was a cartoon called quick draw mcgraw...for thoe of you who know quick draw mcgraw,he had the perfect solution to the ego needy woefully un appreciative violin foolishly selfish one: EL Kabong........there is a time and place to show ones talent...it is NOT to stand up and play unvitedly.....weak needy individual

lackine courage abd committment to get his own proper gig...Tommy exemplified forebearance...

  • random violinist.. ! haha

  • Yeah, violin player didn't quite have it together did he. Still, it was a *Jazz* Festival ;-)

  • that shit guy with the violin ...

  • I loved the mystery violinist!

  • even the way he tunes the guitar is a piece of music on its own

  • the way as Tommy reacted as the fiddler started playing,,...well,it demonstrates as he's great, and humble, and human,....(other artists might have called the bodyguards...)......how not to love him,..noy just his music,..and his talent,..but just him!!!!!

  • after 1 year of practice

    i can now play angelina

    you inspired me tommy

  • His true power is in his fingers not his voice

    REAL LEGEND

  • gucker07

    You got that right

  • The more I find on Tommy Emmanuel, the more I admire him. Thank you, YouTube! To hear the story about how this beautiful song was inspired really touched my heart and I'm NO softy!!

  • My daughter lives in Munich with her mother. When my wife left me in 1987, she moved back to her native Germany. I have a great relationship with my daughter. But I can only imagine what it would be like to be able to write a song for my daughter Christina.

Again, many can play this, but only Tommy can play this for us with his daughter foremost in his heart.

  • to było niezwykłe

  • Stupid hobo violin player..him playing during a live TE song would be like a kid with down symdrome interrupting Beethoven with a kazoo.

  • wonderful.... tommy and the violin player playing together, the violinist is a genius ahah !

  • LOL. that would fucking make my day if a random violinist came out of no where.

  • grande immenso artista awesome

  • At the end he points and laughs as if to say:Look at that fool who ruined the whole song!

  • I didn't know Mickey Rourke could play violin...

  • That violinist should have been taken out, tarred and feathered. You don't do that to any musician during his/her concert. And you REALLY don't do it

    to Tommy.

  • ...this broke me to the tears...

Lovely, from heart to heart, very nice.

Thats how the music speaks over all the languages... LOVE IT ! Tom

  • just at 5:30 you can her someones sobbing, aahw!

  • hes so right about people learning to play this song because they are inspired by it. Im trying to learn this song now , it just makes me feel good inside.

  • who's the 4 motherfucker who dont like this song...i'll kill u...

  • great song...except the random violin player..i thought a kid was dying in the background..sumbody tell him to please play the song in key if he's going to accompany him ever again

  • Who is that violinist?

  • Shame about the violin. This happened to me once, some guy with a harmonica. Beautiful piece of guitar, very lovely.

  • If you just listen to this song...in your head you can see his little angelina...and how much he loves her...those emotions he shows in that song are awesome...wish I could that ;DD

  • amazing !

  • thats just beautiful

  • The. Violin player must be died. Sob!

  • out of tune violin?

  • This man is the best, and this is coming from a metalhead guitar nut.

Tommy is no joke, the best!

  • Yeh he's a bit sexy which I find very disturbing

  • his vocals gave me chills

    so sexy

  • That random guy just made it all more special, and tommy was thrilled and honored

  • It's simply one of the most beautiful tune in the world.

  • hah awesome !

  • You cant help but watch his face! He just tells a story with the song all on his face! Amazing! He is a pure man.

  • @Bringmehomesally

he tells the violin player to fuck off haha

  • @Bringmehomesally I agree. Watching him play is as wonderful as listening.

  • I love Tommy's voice and his melodies... Excellent! :)

  • I'd love to see him play with Sean Harkness, their styles are similar and what a great show that would be!

  • hahaha, why would that man just randomly start playing?

    awkward..

  • i cant apreciate the violin improv , tho i must admit i can apriciate the fact he got inspired by this song and that he felt he had to play along .

Tommy didnt gafe the impresion he was botherd by it , more or less he looked like he was honord to his input .

Great song Really love Tommy's work , my respects to such a great tallant

  • oh my god this f***** violin player ...

  • I don't think the violin ruined it... but I think that his notes were not intonated very well.....

  • Well, he was gracious to the violin player. That says a lot about the man!!

  • you should check out the video where he yells at a camera man to shut up while in mid performance. heh

  • which video???

  • "since we met hey shut up version"

  • extremaly wonderfull..!

    hugs man..!

  • yeah...at first I would think you're right.......but d'you know what? tommy is so cool ... he really didn't mind .... what a guy!

  • the violinist needed to find the right notes first, before trying to improvise

  • bad, bad violin tttt :)

  • the violin was ok... it's just that you don't understand what is improvising really about... it might not sound good enough... because you know the song... in my opinion... he spiced it up... tommy looked surprised... but happy... let's go with it...

  • you nailed it! amen!

  • He looked like he was gong to cry. Tommy composed music and this man played along. Unless your a song writer you will not get it at all.

    He was touched.

  • Omg, wtf did that violinist do?? He violated that beautiful song!!!! Old drunken bastard!!!

  • that violinist was pretty awful

  • my gosh, i'm a musician and lemme say that violin was fucked up. i don't care how "good" he is, the first thing you learn is you need to blend in with the people you play with and honestly, he sucked. sucked. fucked up the song (and god do i love this song).

  • dude that violinist spoilt the song...

  • die geige klingt einfach sowas von scheiße ... :D

  • This is, in my opinion, his best song.

  • that violinist really did spoil it. Couldn't really improvise with him at all.

  • Tommy was 100% impressed with him playing along to his music man especial considering he says at the begining that he sees alot of ppl playing his music

  • voce é um gênio...

  • even if he was a good violinist (which he really wasnt) you dont butt in, n the middle of someones performance. what a douchebag! Tommy is the best guitarist in the world, he ticks all the boxes ;)

  • he may be a good one, but his nervous vibrato totally doesn't fit Tommy's smooth sound.

  • the violinist is hans die geige. hes a real good one alright

  • Johnoooh :

    haha :) really !!

  • haha i know the violinist was great but it seemed like tommy at 6:32 was giving him the "what the fuck are you doing" smile

  • i didnt know angelina was the name of his daughter. and i didnt know the lyrics. and it was moving. simply wow. 100/10

  • i actually enjoyed what the violin was playing for a few moments, quite nice.

    bit random though

  • wat the heck!!! just the sound check music sounded really hectic!!! thats not even the real piece yet :S i want to learn how to play that intro piece :P heheh

  • go the violin player, farout what a bunch of player haters

  • Violin player is awesome.

  • The reason why he has to constantly tune is because he puts on new strings every day

He explained this in a master class I had with him.

  • Everyone needs to go see him live at least once in their life. Words cannot describe what he does on stage. The sound is absolutely incredible! Most of all, his energy just beams from the moment he steps onto the stage. Steve vai once said he is the greatest guitar player in the world...not necessarily based soley on his skills, but because of the way he makes you feel. Amazing!

  • True that!

  • brutal on the violin

  • The violin player sucks.

  • I agree, however it shows what a great guy Tommy is to play down low and let the violin player have his 15 seconds of fame. Most guitarists would have been offended by the interuption..

  • Creamyguitar: I thought the same when I saw it, and absolutely agree. Only a great person (as well as guitar player) can be ALSO humble enough to do something like that, and respect another musician's attempt to share.

On the other hand, I wish everyone posting comments here (including me) would have at least 10% of the courage the violinist has, to step up and try to match with someone as great as Tommy.

  • @gucker07 He should have played Mombasa on the violinist.

  • @gucker07

YOU SUCK..noob..you and all your "thumbs up"..

  • is tommy seperated from his wife?

  • yes about 15 years ago...i got the oppertunity for a meet and greet after a concert at my college and he said somebody came between them a while back

  • wow nice. does he hang around after concerts for interaction with fans do u know?

  • yes he does...he came out after the show at my college and signed his cds and dvds for people to buy...luckily i am involved in the music program at my school and was allowed backstage and got to chat for a while...was a blast played mombosa for me

  • Thats a beautiful song! full of emotion and feel, very hard to find that these days.

You can tell he's a wonderful guy. I was hearing this song and went to see my little daughter sleeping. Now I'm going to figure the song out

  • That Tommy Emmanuel is a beautiful man ... he captured a father's love for his daughter ... perfectly.

  • beautiful !!

  • i don't know, i thought the violinist kinda added to the beauty of this video. yea he might've messed up a couple times and "ruined" the song, BUT something about him standing up all of a sudden and playing along i found beautiful. the whole music thing, i guess...

  • indeed, and it was right in line with the spirit of Tommy's remark about being inspired - that right there is the very heart of music in action.

  • i agree. even though he did sound like a whistling teapot lol

  • indeed :)

  • Tommy and Doyle, 2 of the best fingerstyle players alive today!!!!

  • haha, two old man play their old instruments , that''s funny, but

the violin was to spoil the fun,

    that's really damn~~~~

  • omg, who's that violin guy?

  • kill the violinist

  • wat guitar is he playing

  • yeah the violinist was hans die geige

  • nice track

  • Man just messing around he's awsome

  • If I had been standing there I would have pulled a Belushi Animal House...and smashed that fuckin violin

  • I think the guy played violin out of respect. But I still want to say:YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I bet this song would be even more beautiful with a proper violinist....not some street performer

  • THis song needs nothing more than the way it was intended to be played...by Tommy and Tommy alone.

  • are you sick??? tommy was not happy and also, the guy didnt play well at all.. he completely ruined tommys performance and tommy was very sloppy after the violinist started playing.. tommy says at the end tommy says at the end >>> thank you very much thank you to the officer as well. (violinist was told to stop a few seconds before tommy finished, by a cop)

  • Well put. Some skid trying to be passionate while steeling TM's thunder.

  • Cooper, Tommy actually said,

"... thank you to the orchestra as well."

  • one word: RESPECT !

  • the audience seems like they have no respect towards tommy in this video...

    how rude...

tommy is a freakin legend. they should enjoy listening to tommy perform live. i would give up my left nut to see him in front of me with his guitar.

  • Damn right! I'm goin' to see him in Feb...I'm so freakin' pumped! :D

  • What are you saying, The audience is transfixed! To show respect to subtle music you're appreciative gestures need to be subtle as well. They're not in a mosh pit.

  • It is in Berlin, so they might not understand him

  • The only thing that bothers me is the face of the people when the guy start playing at the audience. They really don't enjoy music at all. They went there just for a beer and maybe, to see "Tommy". They forget Tommy Emmanuel is someone who enjoys music. For his look, I believe he loved that part when the guy started to play the violin. The audience there, with a "OH NO! HE RUINED THIS FOR ME" face says it all, they don't really enjoys music the way Tommy or the guy with the violin do.

    Same here.

  • Guys, this has nothing to do with you. These where just two guys who enjoy music talking each other, one from the stage, one from the audience. He didn't interrupt tommy, he just invited him to feel what he was feeling at the moment, and expressed the best way he could.

  • nevertheless it was wierd

  • agreed

  • Oh my word, that violinist was terribly out of tune. Other than that, great vid! Did you see the look on Tommy's face when he saw that?! Hilarious!

  • It may be that the (apparently uninvited) violinist wasn't aware that the song is played one tone higher than concert-pitch...

  • Ich heiss au Angelina...:D

    Der name ist voll selten..^^

  • omg, that violinist must be drunk!

but the song still remains wonderful

  • i think the violinist was hans die geige. supposed to be famous but if thats him he really isnt that good since he couldnt figure out the correct key to play along.

  • Such a sympathetic person.

  • It was dedicated to his daughter. Enough with the debating, he dedicated it to Angelina and what the violinist did was practically try to interrupt/play along (whatever euphemism you like.) It's HIS concert. Just let TE play.

  • Wot the heck woz the voilinist doing?! Completely off key.

  • the violinist was out of key

  • just full of lovely grace notes.... or gross notes. damb ugly hahaha See tommy's face? "dude shut up face" going on shame

  • who brings a violin to a concert. damn euopeans!

  • IT WAS A JAZZ FESTIVAL!

  • ragazzi tommy è un dio... sembra che lui e la chitarra siano la stessa cosa. ho i brividi

  • The violinist was funny.

  • You know after watching tommy's video's I don't think we would be that annoyed with the violinist, everytime he plays with someone he really relishes and enjoys it, whoever it is with and however good they are. Whilst he was out of key, and it his daughter's dedication song, wouldn't you be pleased that someone would want to accompany you and had been inspired to come and see and play with you?

  • than who ?? the violist u mean

  • haha .. dude listen u aren't good enough to at least hold his guitar for a second. better than him hahaha
