  • I love this song even if it is considered politiclly inncorect, insensetive, and abusive of women. they'll just have to get over it. I like under my thumb too.

  • It was written about his girlfriend back in 66 chrissie shrimpton. I know this cause she's my mates mum! And as to was under my thumb and 19th nervous breakdown

  • The Stones will always be the greatest rock n' roll band of the sixties. The Beatles were great, but were more "alternative" than rock n' roll. Had the pleasure of attending the fantastic show at L.A. Coliseum 1981 - the Tattoo You tour. They knocked me out!

BTW - the Stones "opening acts" were Lonesome George Thorogood & the Delaware Destroyers, then Peter Wolff and The J Geils Band. Took me days to recover...

  • @dontmesswithbill23 fuck yeah J. Geils band!

  • This and 'Under My Thumb' got young teenaged boys really wound up back then.

  • Yes, I am a stupid girl. I have never listened to this Stones song before.

  • Her vanity shows and it shows.

  • Love this song. It was the Beatles that gave me an increased interest in listening to pop music when I was a young teen, but it was the early Rolling Stones that convinced me to start PLAYING music. They made it seem so accessible. I haven't stopped since. Thanks guys!

  • @ebf1957 yep

  • Gosh, this song could be about so many high school girls today. I'm amazed this classic hasn't made a major comeback.

"She's the worst thing in this world."

  • @rr7firefly1 i agree..

  • Damn I Love the Stones! A perfect song for every feeling.

  • jó, azért ennél bonyolultabb. hangosan soha - csak magamban. :P

  • I never forgot this song once I heard it .Nice to find it on Youtube..

  • Ah, the Aftermath Album. In 1966 I had a 4 track player installed in my '57 Chevy (I was born in '47) and my 1st tape (they were the size of a sheet cake!) was the Stones' Aftermath. Man, the memories of times ~ now gone ~ but never ever ever forgotten. So many great songs of that era; Stupid Girl, It's Not Easy, High & Dry, Paint It Black, Under My Thumb......................

  • @MrRonnieG I was born in '48.I attended the Stones great show at the Cow Palace

in San Francisco on 7/27/66,my 18th birthday. This show was phenomenal!!! It's in my

TOP-5 SHOWS OF ALL TIME!! This tour was in support of their great "Aftermath"

album. The late, great Brian Jones was onstage wearing a pin-striped gangster suit.

  • Greatest Stones song ever....

  • plus.. she sounds obnoxious :( lol!

  • hahaha

  • Now I realize how Bob Seger got his idea for his 1968 song Ramblin' Gamblin' Man. I completley forgot all about this nice little gem on Aftermath. The Hammond organ and arrangement in general is almost to a Tee. Listen to them both. I like them both.

  • 6 dislikes? .. whoa probably a whole bunch of stupid girls...

love this record !! aftermath rules!

  • ^The stupid girl has five friends...

  • @iamthepope keep bringing the dumb ho up and keep wondering why shes still relevant. Your a fucking Moron....

  • I agree with iamthepope, this could have been written about Palin,it fits her perfectly!

  • @yappapie More likely Hillary Clinton....

  • @iamthepope hahaha

  • lyrics are amazing to this song

  • In 1966, at age 19, I had a 4-track tape player installed in my 1957 Chevy. Yes, 4-track. The tapes were bigger than sheet cakes and, of course, there were only 2 songs available at any one time. My first tape (and there weren't many available) was Aftermath and I played that thing over and over and over and over. Stupid Girl, Paint It Black, High and Dry, Under My Thumb, It's Not Easy ~ maybe the best album they ever recorded.

  • This is how I view many girls that I know.

  • Between mid 60's Stones and mid 60's Dylan it's hard to decide who dissed girls more awesomely.

  • I can dedicate this song to the 80% of girls I know...

  • This song is sexist in the best possible way, I love it! :D

  • Hmm...One dislike... Must be the stupid girl

  • @samness7 oh. :) you stole my line

  • @samness7 Hey here's another dislike.. from another 'stupid' girl.. that makes two of us now ;) it's pretty stupid don't you think.. making a stupid song about a stupid girl? Who'd be that stupid? Only somebody stupider I suspect. But then we are talking about the 'Stupid Twins', right? .. what one expects from stupid drugged up school drop outs?

  • @RollerGirlMeli you hav got 2 b kidding right or just a stupid girl?

  • Comment removed

  • @zzzippo55 I made the comment in same spirit as that in which Jagger & Richards composed this puerile song - a bit tongue-in-cheek. It's not the best song from 'Aftermath' album, the success of which I credit to Brian Jones' innovative use of a range of interesting instruments - sitar, marimba & dulcimer. My fav from the album is 'Paint it, Black'. Even 'Lady Jane' is a better song than 'Stupid Girl'.

  • @RollerGirlMeli

Every tune on Aftermath has its function. Remember when the frikin Beatles were generating one stupid sappy tune after another the Stones were making some rather astute social commentary.

  • @1138thz well i were about 14 in 68 an well the sixties were great, however most are gone, the stones are not my fave

. for sure but these early albums, I really liked and did not try to take them apart yes their made a statement of a personality of a girl , thats all .

  • @1138thz There's a difference between astute informed critical social commentary & adolescent misogyny. Sure the Beatles were making sappy pop songs.. that's what the market wanted. Jagger's treatment of the subject matter, honest from his perspective it might have been, revealed an unsympathetic antipathy towards the women in the social circles he was beginning to move in. On 'Stupid Girls' &'Under My Thumb': '..it was very adolescent, those songs about adolescent experiences.' Jagger

  • @RollerGirlMeli

misogyny! I see no evidence that at all. His Lyrics were directed at a specific type of person that he had learned to despise by direct experience. Jagger was talking about a girl that was cruel, treacherous, self centered and took pleasure from inflicting pain. Do you contend that:

•any criticism leveled at a female by a male must have misogynistic roots,

•the young can not make and express astute observations,

•he should have been sympathetic to those kind of people?

  • @1138thz bi agree. i'm a girl and don't take offence at all. There are stupid girls and guys alike. It's not meat to be offensive.. it's a rock song, and in reality, it 's spoken for men and girls alike if they're behavior is ignorant. Just a thought though, everybody has a story!!!

  • @Redbirdgirl88

I agree the song could easily be entitled 'stupid boy'. I think the tune has a general focus on self centered vindictive jerks ..the sex of the jerk in question is immaterial.

I seldom listen to these old tunes these days having become enraptured by things like this:

  • @RollerGirlMeli >Thinks all drugs are bad and thinks school means ANYTHING.

Confirmed for full on retard who doesn't know shit about art and great music. The truth. It hurts, dun it?

  • @samness7

  • My sisiters

  • Not that it matters but this is on the flip side of Paint it Black

  • Hey! I KNOW that girl! I used to date her!

  • this is for my gf

  • i dedicate this to every girl i know on facebook

  • I don't see this as misogynistic.. He's talking about one stupid biatch, not women in general.

  • I also dedicated the song to Anne Coulter back in 2005.

  • @chrisbacos I dedicate to Katy Couric...

  • I dedicate to the ultimate stupid girl, Sarah Palin

  • @moorlock2003 I will make a further dedication...Hillary Clinton....lol...

  • @moorlock2003 Carrie Prejean and Michelle Bachmann are also prime candidates.

  • Im talking about the way she grabs a hose

  • i picked up aftermath vinyl at a flea market the other day. got stoned today and listened to it for the first time ever today. this song was the standout. loved it.

  • Mick Jagger wrote this for his ex Chrissie Shrimpton haha :)

    poor girl.

  • @miiia787 Wikipedia says it's written for many girlfriends he had.

"Yeah, it's much nastier than 'Under My Thumb'... Obviously, I was having a bit of trouble. I wasn't in a good relationship. Or I was in too many bad relationships. I had so many girlfriends at that point. None of them seemed to care they weren't pleasing me very much. I was obviously in with the wrong group."

    -Rolling Stone interview.

    Anyways, awesome song! :D

  • In 2012 this should be Sarah Palin's campaign theme song.

  • @chrisbacos I heard that this song is only used exclusively by Nancy Pelosi, no one else.

  • @chrisbacos I think Hillary Clinton would be more accurate! ha ha

  • Long live misogyny. Long live political independence, stop bitching about dems & republicans u stupid yanks!!!!

  • Not a bad interpretation of Hillary the wanker lesbo either.

  • So they had to deal with these damn people in 1966 too?

  • @TheRadioactivemutant TIMES CHANGE, PEOPLE DON'T

  • @TheRadioactivemutant Sad, isn't it?

  • This song reeks of truth.

  • This song was SERIOUSLY in New Jersey when I was in college. We even had a dance we did to it (back when we had dances inspired by songs LOL)

  • This is so prescient - sounds like they are singing about Sarah Palin!

  • These lyrics describe Sarah Palin to a T.

  • @NCsupercade You just gave me an idea,,,,,,,,,Go to my channel in a couple of days.......

  • @NCsupercade yes they do! And all the TeaParty broads that vote for her...

  • She's The Sickest Thing In This World.....What a great fucking line.....

  • @mpsicily The Rolling Stones have way better lines that that. What're you talking about? It's an okay line, but great?

  • "Aftermath" = Great album, especially the UK Version....Another great thing about the album is that it is very "Misogynistic", cannot get better than that.....

  • @mpsicily yes and can still have room for "Lady Jane" as well. Superb Record.

  • a underrated and very good song of the early Rolling Stones
