  • @gogs2010 he looks roman

  • Beautiful

  • when i close my eyes while hearing this song i feel in a farm with a nice lady asking would you like a glass of milk?

  • Well Done Mate!!!!

    Keep up the great work!!!!!

  • @edelahaye Indeed. Add in the sound of dripping water and the illusion of being inside a giant cave would be complete. Love the song, though.

  • i like it actually :)

  • Your music makes me smile :)

    I love thin whistle!

  • same here. Tin whistle music makes me smile too and get goosebumps.. lol i think it's just such a natural happy sound that make it sound so nice.

  • what is your tin whistle?

  • would love to know this too.

  • looks like an oak whistle...

  • WOW your real good ....well done!

  • Many are asking about echo etc. I'm low budget and don't have amplifiers etc. I just find places that naturally echo. I have a favorite bridge I play under; and I found a nice pedestrian tunnel; or around tall grain elevators. I love the echo or sustain effect. It's like having another instrument. Fr. Ryan and Joanie Madden are amazing!! Thanks Fr.!!

  • crap

  • Did you add the reverb after you finished recording?

  • ya, how did you get the reverd?

  • Sweet little program called Audacity. Works wonders. It's free.

  • cool, i should try it out, GREAT TONE!!

  • I've got the music and I can do stuff like bending a note so its sweeps up to it - but I can't work out how you're making some of those sounds! They are like trills but not....your hands move too fast to see it, what exactly are you doing? (e.g. at 1st top F sharp etc)...?

  • No comment... It's so perfect... Where can we find the partitions ? (I don't know if we tell that... I'm French and my english speaking is a little horrible)

  • better than my french

  • Love it!

What key is your whistle in this tune? I am just beginning.

    Thanks

  • it sounds wonderfull...is it hard to learn??

  • he has lessons on his channel for the tin wistle

  • It's easy ti learn... I play it since January and I learn alone... when you know read a partition, how to play tin whistle, and see the Ryan DunsSJ's lessons, you can play what you want. Good luck!

  • WOW

  • hi is it hard to learn? how can i learn it and what is the best methode to learn it??

    greedzzz sean

  • You are the best.

You have the sheet music from this jig?

  • Are they expensive? it seems like a really beautifull instrument!

  • Nope! Just the opposite, they were originally made to be instrument built for the masses, so they're fairly inexpensive. I got my first one for $5 CAD. I got my second for $10. It's a worth while investment!

  • They're actually very in-expensive. I'm getting one tonight for 9 USD and change. If you order them online, they tend to be more expensive, but only because of shipping and handling.

  • Love it! Thanks to you I just ordered a whistle. What a lovely way to have fun and share it. Who could be sad when listening to this?

  • great!

  • should i get a penneywhistle? and is it easy to learn by yourself?

  • thaks Rian, your recordings help me to clean my stile

  • ^^ YAY THAT SONG WOULD MAKE ANYONE HAPPY!!! My heart! it floats so joyous!

  • What a wonderful song, could you please pass on the music sheet for this as my fiance and I would love our tin whistle player to play this at our wedding.

  • what brand whistle is this? Generation D? or is it a Nickel Dixon?

  • I ebayed those there like $10 I have to get one!!

  • Brillant!

  • Hey man, you are so awesome! I am totally jealous of your skills! I'm looking for one of these right now, have you got any advice on a specific make/brand I should pick up?

    Please keep playing!

  • man you sound like heaven. i want to learnt it to. but i got no whistle yet. can you give me a hint what kinde i should buy for feving the same beautyfull sound.

ps: do you have scores or partitures of your song? it is just immazing....

  • Just to be clear, this song was written by Joanie Madden as stated in the description. While I can't speak for Ryan, you should check out the instructional videos on his page. He has taught me alot already. From the videos he has posted, he recommends using a Generation Tin Whistle in the key of "D", however I have found that you can get a Clarke Sweetone in "D" for about a dollar or two more, and the sound is much better.

  • is that u or music something

  • man i wish i could write one that pretty

  • Ryan, I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to pick up the Tin Whistle after watching this video. My wife bought one the same day and we are using your leasons to practice together each day. You're very talented. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • Dude you're playing fantastic. I want to play too, and you give me great inspiration with this video. I wish i knew what kind of whistle you're playing now, There are a few kinds of tin whistles as i know, but i have no chance to know which one sounds like how. I can only order by internet, there are no tin whistles here in music shops :(

  • WOW oO

  • I would love to have the sheet music to this song. It's very beautiful.

  • beautiful

  • The tin whistle is in D.

He starts by playing the note F on the whistle.

This type of whistle i think is called "The Sweetone by Clarke" and it is a very cheap whistle. In sweden you can get one in most music shops for around 90 SEK. Thats about $13. I´m going to Ireland this summer so I am going to surprise everyone there with learning to play this tune :)

  • I'm going to buy one now.

  • can u put up de notes 4 me plz cause i coulde win 100 euro and a scholarship toa collage by doin dat one song!!btw u totaly rok!!!

  • What key is that whistle in C?

Would love to know..You rock bTW

  • I'm pretty sure it's in D, generally most of the whistles you'll hear will be in D :)

  • hmm....i ment to post that as a reply to sandkey's comment...this internet buisness is very confusing.... :P

  • love ya

  • Thats great playing, ill try and get your video up on my tin whistle site.... whistleaway . com . If any of you whistlers out there have a blog or website, id love if you could tell evryone about my tin whistle site.

  • That's beautiful, very haunting sound. Thanks

  • pretty good if's it's really you.

  • perfect!!

    what whistle u use?

  • Hi! I've enjoyed your videos a lot!

Can you recomend a good tune book or a learning method that I can buy through internet? I wish to learn to play the Irish Tin Whistle.

  • Erm, I don't think that was recorded in your living room unless you pumped through an EQ bot or something. I'm not cynical, I just want to know what you did to make that sound.

  • I ran it through iMovie.

  • wooooooooa !

  • thankyou very much enjoyed

  • Hey, what do you think about Clarke whistles? I think what you're doing for God is awesome by the way.

  • Maybe a little much on the reverb, but definately talented playing.

  • You are awesome! Maybe sometime you show me how to play the flute like you do

  • I am a french franciscan from Quimper (Brittany)I have discovered the Irish music thanks to a friar: I like it very much and I like the way you play. I play bagpipe and I realize the work you need to achieve such a level. thanks God for the gift he gave to you!

  • i love the reverb^^

  • EL pibe esta tocando

    no digas boludeces

    idioto

  • what key is your whistle in? brilliant playing by the way.

  • This whistle is in D, but he plays in other keys sometimes.

  • Why are you echoing so much?

  • How the devil did you get that awesome hall echo?

  • Cool playing! I want to beggining to play the whistle... Have you a score for this tune?

  • Disappointing.. Is it live or is it memorex... Definitely memorex...

  • live, u dope. lol...

This man is a superb artist :)

  • wow, I like that reverb effect on your whistle. Great job

  • I don't mean to be rude, but do you think before you post? Go and look at all of the other videos I've posted and tell me that they are ALL fabrications.

  • i wouldnt worry about it. havent played a whistle in twenty years, but know when somebody is... Good job!

  • AMAGROOVES what an asshole you are !!!!

  • exactly witch flute do you use?

  • Cool! I want to learn!!!

  • is ther anywere were i can get sheet music 4 this or notes?? i wanna learn it :P

  • I expect it's on thesession org website

  • this is excellent!!!

    You are the man Ryan

  • !!!

  • I think this guy mentioned what he used on another video done by this guy. He mentioned if im not mistaken, it was a Mac he used - and used a very common function on some Mac music program.

  • outstanding

  • This is nice...but as was mentioned before, artifical reverb was electronically added to the recording...as is done on most studio-recorded CD's of our time.

  • KENNY ROGGERS

  • awesome!

  • Very nice!

  • HAHA thats why it is best to not type comments @ 2am! your brain does one thing and your hands another! Yes i mean timbre. . . next time i'll make sure im awake when i type.

  • I've got a doubt. I bought last week a Walton's Tin Whistle, nevertheless its sound is totally different to yours, it sounds like a sweet flute. Is it brand's problem? or is it I'm just a noob? :P

  • This is not exactly the penny whistles natural timber. . . if you listen there is reverb which can only be created by machine. a possible way of doing this is running the mic to an amp with a little reverb in the amp, but im not sure how they did it. Im not a sound guy i just play instruments :-P

However this whistle does have a very sweet timber, this comes from practice mainly. It takes a good embouchure and the proper amount of breath to sound that good. But whistles do make a differance.

  • Are you sure you don't mean timbre? You seem to keep talking about wood: timber.

  • Thank you for posting. REally beautiful.

    :-)

  • he so is not! hes a dweeb!

  • this was awesome I love this song you have incredible talent my friend

  • you're amazing

  • that....was....awsome!

  • Its pretty! ^_^ Is it hard to learn?

  • Ok the retards who thinks hes not playing it, hes a professional watch his other videos my god. And he added the echo after make make it sound better you stupid people.

  • WOW U ARE SO AMAZING

  • If you watch any of his other videos, you'll learn that he definitely CAN and IS playing this piece.

  • even if he is faking this, he does a good job breathing at the right spots, fingering the right notes, and doing perfect imitations of ornamentations... (he's not faking it people, sheesh)

  • Absolutely awesome. I've never heard a Tin Whistle (Well, probably have, but never identified it) and this is absolutely lovely. Nice job!

  • yeah...y is there??

  • Nice Tune and where did you get the tune from? Please. I like the added echo it really livens up the piece.

  • It's real, he just added an echo affect to it later.

  • Awesome!

  • that si soo cooooooool

so is it like playing the flute?

  • Wow, that was AMAZING! I just finished watching your two students work it, and this man (along with the echo) is SUPERB! You are quite a great teacher, and a recorder! :D Which reminds me, I played a recorder a few years back, but I wasn't as good as them, nor could I play it by memory (unless it was easy songs like the beginning of Fur Elise) CONGRATS!
