I tried doing this with the following problem, but I end up with a wrong answer:

x^-4 + y^-4 / x^-1 + y^-1

the answer I got from using this method is 1, while the actual answer is supposed to be Y^4 + X^4 / X^3Y^4 + X^4Y^3.

did I make an error somewhere?
