why is it that eveytime i go on low carb diet after a couple of days my blood sugars start droping and i feel terrible even psychotic. my blood work comes back normal. is it insulin resistance? is my body still pumping out alot of insulin? please help.
@xjun2001 This is why it's so important to be under the care of a physician while livin' la vida low-carb. Go to LowCarbDoctors dot blogspot dote come to find a doctor near you who understands carbohydrate restriction.
Hi Jimmy~Thanks for sharing this info! I was diagnosed 5 mos ago. No insurance, no A1C test yet, so will get one of these. I use a One-Touch Ultra Mini that takes very little blood, which is a blessing as I not only hate, but am deathly afraid of, needles. How much blood is required for the ReliOn test? Is it substantially more than what my Ultra Mini requires? Will I be able to draw blood for the test using my Ultra Mini lancet? Look forward to learning more from you two! ~Kim
There's not much need for blood to do this test...just a few drops and that's it. You can certainly use your existing lancets to make it happen. Let me know how it works out for you, Kim! :D THANK YOU for watching!
Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. So very glad to hear that as I'm ok as long as I can't see the needle. ;) You're doing a wonderful service for people and I truly appreciate it!
Jen, I remember answering your question but for some reason it looks like YouTube didn't publish it. My apologies. I never purposely ignore anyone who leaves a comment, especially a regular like you. Sorry you feel I slighted you somehow.
That said, to answer your original question, you provide your name and address along with your birth date and a signature to release them to perform the test. That's it! We just mailed Christine's last week and look forward to the results. THANKS! :)
Thats cool. I saw it at Walmart about a year ago and thought it was a neat thing. Walmart also has a glucose meter for $10 that uses strips that sell for $10 a box. Maybe not enough strips for a diabetic but enough for someone who wanted to regularly monitor their glucose level. Can't wait until they sell other tests like cholesterol in stores
I just wanted to share that with you and thank you for all your help and support... this has really motivated me to stick with Atkins and reach my goal weight... I am sure that my blood lipids will continue to get better and better as I get closer to my goal... thanks again SLIMQUEST...
Hey Jimmy, I know I am not supposed to check my blood lipids until week 6 but I was curious and needed to know how I was doing.... this will probably not to be surprising to you but it was to me.... my fasting glucose has gone from 110 to 85 my Total Cholestrol has gone from 213 to 171 and my Triglycerides have gone from 231 to 110 in just 3 weeks... WOW!!! I thought it was great that I lost 15 lbs but to have that dramatic of a drop in that short of time is incredible... I am still floored...
Thank you so much for all the hard work you do day in and day out to bring us all of this wonderful information. What kind of information do you have to give on that release form? You two crack me up. Hello to you too.
Wow! Thanks for sharing! I've been very curious where my level has been at since starting my weight loss. Thanks so much for posting this! *runs to Walmart*

Go to my Dr's, takes an act of god for them to order a A1c test......

You weren't kidding! I picked mine up yesterday for $9 even.
One thing that I did not see in the instructions... Does it require a fast before doing the test?
IzAboutTime 2 years ago
Nope, fasting is not required.

I think healthcare is moving in that direction with more at-home tests for those of us who can't afford insurance anymore.

How much did it cost to have them return the results?
izzy4el 2 years ago
That's the cool thing about this test, izzy4el! Everything is included in the $9. Sweet deal, eh?
livinlowcarbman 2 years ago
Very sweet deal, livinlowcarbman!
Not a fan at all of the A1 steak sauce myself, but I would pay $9 anytime for an Hemo-A1C test!
: )
Thanks for the quick response, Iz
