not sure if you ended up getting a robot.. but you should really just try making a return board... i put up a thin sheet of MDF against the opposite side of my ping pong table and I can get a pretty decent topspin rally with it.... i may even put some rubber on it...

I had a whale of a time when I spend one night in my garage building this "robot".

Actually, the balls had a very consistent drop position. After all, they had all been "propelled" by a very consistent force: Good ol' gravity.

But, yes, the ball capacity was very limited.

Moreover, at that time I only had 14 balls available.

That's why I way hurrying so much, in order not to waste any of them... ;-)
