Well we surely miss Nat, Sinatra, Martin, Sammy Davis, Ella, Louis etc etc But i would say that Michael Buble, Harry Conick, Diana Krall, etc are the one's we have now so lets cherish them.
@krrwasser I know, I miss this type of style, when I listen to these guys, they remind me of my Granddad, he was so a cool guy, he smoked a pipe, carried a handkerchief and loved his jazz. Not to say smoking a pipe is cool, but just saying that is what he did. And he was very mild mannered.
Like.. Wow, I'm really loving this song. :) Never been too big on oldies like this, but I like this jazzy feel. On a side note, any idea who the lady in black and white on the beach is? She's at 0:57
@MisterFleshcage É a Heloisa (Helô) Pinheiro, que serviu de inspiração para Tom Jobim e Vinicius de Moraes escreverem a "Garota de Ipanema". Procure no Google por "escrito a batom: heloisa pinheiro"
@MisterFleshcage I know i am replying to late, but if you haven't hear it, check out Elaine Elias version of this song. In my opinion this kind of song should keep as it is, with the Brazilian touch and not try to jazz it to much, if you check Diana Krall an explendid pianist, she really destroyed this song.
Did Nat ever record a bad song? I can't think of one. Every song he sang, he did a wonderful job. Most artist record a song that you just don't like, but not so with Nat King Cole. Everyone has a favorite.
@MrGeter76 I'm probably one of the biggest Nat Cole fans on the face of the earth, but he "missed" a few times (sometimes even the greatest did). I won't post the "misses". Thanks for the note.
@MrGeter76 'Ramblin Rose', that's the only one that springs to mind. But his vocal performance was always exceptional, and I'm sure a lot of people like that song. And lets keep in mind that beyond his magnificent voice, he is one of the greatest Jazz pianists of alltime. His trio albums are cornerstones of Jazz piano playing.
@krrwasser do your research, there are plenty of artist similar to the great classics and i'd even go as far to say that some of them are better than great old ones. just start searching, you're gonna find a lot of very awesome stuff (just try some jazz/swing clubs in your area for example)
@ Nocaro...thanks for posting this and bringing it to our attention. It's the first I'm hearing Nat's version of this well known Bossa Nova classic . Don't get me wrong ..I. love it but its not the rhythm of bossa but closer to swing than anything else as far as I'm concerned..
@NormanMac Well, I'm not sure one could call this a "swing" version, but it's Nat's interpretation of the original bossa-nova classic which was still a relatively new song at the time Nat recorded this. This may have been Nat's last ever recording in a studio shortly before he died.

@MisterFleshcage she is Heloísa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto, also called Helô Pinheiro. She was the inspiration for the composers of this song.

@MisterFleshcage The girl is Helô Pinheiro when she was younger. Here in Brazil she's known as the truly "Girl from Ipanema".
