i like the cruze, it looks very distinguishable (in a good way!) unlike most of the competitors in the segment these days. all i really miss is a performance version of it in the 250HP range, maybe a limited production special edition run. but other than that a real statement by Chevy which wasn't necessarily known for having cars competing right at the top of the small/compact car segment, until now that is. very impressive ! greetings from germany.
I hate to sound like a teenager, but does this car have enough pick-up, and acceleration? I ask only because where I live in NY, its hell to be merging onto a highway unless you can match the traffic, usually going around 60-70, so am I going to be able to do this, in say the ECO, or the LS? or will I just have to close my eyes, floor the gas, and hope for the best?
@AngelicRemorse I have a LTZ RS, 1.4L Turbo, it picks up and goes just fine. It does great actually. The turbo pulls well in the lower RPM range so there's not need to wind up the motor much.
I just recently bough my Chevy Cruze LTZ RS in crystal red a few months ago (March).. I absolutely love it & even with the 2 recalls, I have not had any issues with the car other than the fact that it shifts on its own but other than that, its a great car. GM definitely did a good job with this one!
Let me preface this by saying that since purchasing the Cruze in March, there have been 2 recalls. Personally, I have had no quality issues - no rattles, squeeks, etc. Chevrolet has a program where customers have a survey to fill out on purchases and repairs. The pay of sales and service personnel depend on them receiving absolutely satisfied comments. All the friendly service from a dealer is a little creepy.
I have an LTZ with 5k miles. With the stiffer suspension and 18" rims it is fun to drive on 2 lane curvy roads. I have only activated the the turbo charger about 6 times, such as entering a crowed freeway or pulling into traffic going up a steep hill. But if you are more interested in speed than mpg, this is not your car.
@lamargreenleaf I agree with that. It just doesn't feel fast. I wish it had the Cobalt SS 2.0 Turbo (with 260hp!). That would make me love the Cruze, rather than just like it. Do you find your Cruze to be well put together?
@ArterialSum1 I own a 2LT and I get about 39MPG with highway and city miles. So I'm actually getting MORE than the said mileage. And I would actually say this car feels better when you drive it compared to the Civic, and a tiny bit better than the Corolla, but with a Civic you can feel every bump on the road! :( I work for a Toyota dealership and I'm proud to own this car compared to a Corolla, which in my opinion feels more cheaply made on the inside compared to the Cruze.
i work for hickman motors gander and this car is a very nice drive for sure i drive one on a daily basis for work and would really like to get one myself
@Bonanzaplaylists Spoiler comes with the RS package, which is on the 1LT/2LT and LTZ trim. It's there on this car, it's just hard to see. Pause at 0:31, and you'll see it.
I got a Cruze LT and worths every penny sadly some of those chrome stripes are not on my and the rims are cooler on the LTZ is a shame is not sold in Mexico
@mqmqmwmw Neither. The car in this video has the 1.4L 4 cyl MFI DOHC Turbo with 138hp. North America doesn't get the diesel. The base engine is the 1.8 ECOTEC I-4 with VVT making 136hp. (info from GM Canada website)
Yep! Iv had the chance to drive a couple recently, and came away impressed. The only thing that bothers me is that they feel a bit underpowered for my taste. GM was shooting for MPGs and refinement with this one, rather han speed.
There is a Cruze test drive event next weekend that I may attend. Ill take some more video if I do.
@carmencolumbusohio the once place they missed was with the optional engines.....There should be a higher end higher hp model. Maybe they'll bring back the SS at some point like they had on the Cobalt. 138hp is a snorefest to drive imho.

@guitarguyeddie This colour is apparently discontinued for 2012. Might be replaced with a non-metallic black.

Awesome car! I sat in one like this at the dealer, but it didn't have the RS package. I want one so bad, but I'm 17 1/2 and broke, haha.

people are so dumb with their beliefs about cars. Well shit, cobalt was plastic. What did you think was in your corolla or civic? gold leaf?

@White05Turbo I agree. I find the Cruze slightly slow for my taste. Its geared towards milage, so I get it...but a 2.0 Turbo would be amazing.
