I would like to say : you are very wrong §thelonegoover§ the people you see in this vid are the essence of scottish city life and i fee very honored to have met some of them
I grew up with this generation, and the people in the pub scene sum up all that was wrong with Scotland (then) and is still wrong in the present day. The Corries' message in the song is quite simple....take responsibility for you own country and future!....unfortunately since the song was writen in the late 1980's there's no evidence that anybody in Scottish society is prepared to do that.
This is the 1st time I've heard this Corries song and it's already my favourite. The lyrics are spot on. Independence isn't far off now! Makes you want to fly the flag, and stand up for Scotland!
dont be daft - we dont have a scottish national anthem Scotland the brave was written by an englishman for the commonwealth games. dawning of the Day would be a great anthem but Flower of scotland gives me a lump in my throat
Just a correction. Scotland the Brave was written by Cliff Hanley Scottish writer and broadcaster, born Glasgow 1922 brought up in Shettleston. Worked in Glasgow all his life.
@grae911 I've always liked Flower of Scotlas as well, but if a national anthem has to be chanted rather than sung, with various additions to the lyrics sung in between the real lyrics, then I don't think it should be our national anthem, much as I'd like it. Actually I think we might as well abolish national anthems & just sing whatever song we feel like singing on the occassion. We should have an official tune though, maybe the theme tune from the Archers. What d'you mean I've been watching too
Roy was always a good songwriter as well as performer.

Roy wrote the words and music. The arrangement was a joint effort.
Haven't heard it for ages - so true even in 2009.

The election of the present Scottish government and the bloody nose Labour will be getting in Glasgow East tonight, may prove your argument wrong. ;)
