  • @dayane972 um i didnt measure but it was noticably longer. you can check my corchet removal vid. u can see it there.

  • Can you do a tutorial on how to take it out?

  • @irrationalluv08 All you do is take out the corn rows.

  • Comment removed

  • @irrationalluv08 I have a removal video you can check out.

  • omg i love this hair style i always wanted to know how do you do it

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! I wasn't into crochet braids before....then I saw your vids and now I'm headed to the beauty supply store so I can try this tonight!!!!!

  • love it!!

  • This Is Really Cutee !

It Looks Like Its Your Real Hair .

    (:

What Kind(Brand) Of Hair Did You Use

    And

How Many Packs Did You Use ?

I Would Love To Try This Style .

  • wow!love your hair gal!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Suppppppppppppppper CUTE!

  • so ii was wondering if you had any photos of what the back of your hair looked like after you finished because so far ii only see the front results??

  • @norway336 i have another video that has some back shots. Look at my Crochet braids tutorial picts.

  • @norway336 I have another video that has some back shots. Look at my Crochet braids tutorial picts.

  • how many packs?

  • @adriankoko about 3

  • great job! your crotchet braids turned out extremely well!

  • Thank you for your expertise and cheerful demeanor. It is so obvious you are comfortable in the skin you are in and esteemed in the hair you wear. Your Black Is Oh so Beautiful. (Coach Ayo)

  • how do you clean your acalp with these braids?

would it be bad to use human hair for this style?

  • @hatrgatr i cleaned my scalp with a herbal "dry" shampoo by organix i think. I hated it. It had so much alcohol i was heaving and coughing. Instead i would recommend wiping the scalp with witch hazel or a light astringent type product. Concerning the human hair, i don't think it would be bad but i don't really see the point in paying the extra money but its totally up to you and your preference. Let me know how it turns out if you do it.

  • @toysvoice o ok thanks! How often do you clean your scalp with witch hazel and how long do you leave the braids in for?

  • @hatrgatr i would take the witch hazel on a cotton ball and rub the parts between each cornrow. Then squeeze the cornrow between the cotton ball to get caked on dirt. I mostly do this in the front. That is where you gonna have the most build up. Thats was wa I found, esp since i would put a lil aloe gel in the front and a scarf as it gets older to tie it down. It keeps it looking really nice. Oh and i leave the braids in for 2 months.

  • @toysvoice thank you so much...and great video!

It's one of the only ones on here that has great detail!

  • Where do you get your crochet needle from? Can I use Freetress gogo curls?

  • @99underwoodj I found it at the beauty supply store. I heard people say they found it at walmart in the yarn section. Concerning the hair I think it would work. I have not tried it but its still curly so it should stay. If the knots don't stay then after you do the knots take two really thin strands and knots those. That will do it.

  • very cute

  • can you use straight hair when doing crochet baids?

  • @Almonor yes you can but it has a slightly different method. If you search for crochet braids there is a lady with long black hair. she shows how to do it. It looks really nice. I haven't tried that yet. Hope that helps.

  • @toysvoice Please do tell me if you do people's hair and tell me how much you charge. I really like your finsihed product but I dare not attempt this on my own. If you are not in the NYC/NJ area, do you have any suggestions on who can do my hair in the NYC/NJ area? Please let me know

  • i loves your crochet tutorial, i will try that as a protective hair style

  • @ItsSandyCheeks im happy you like it. If you try it please make a vid and attach it to mine.

  • what kind of hair is this ive been dieing 2 kno????

  • @ladyambition10 Freetress water wave bulk hair colors 2 and 1b/530

  • This is really hot. Can you change the way your hair is parted freely with this style?

  • @queenahsilat well it depends on how you braid it. I braid it straight back so i have apart in the middle. i can just take my finger and go down a row of the cornrows to get the part more on the side too. Or you can do slanted cornrows in the front if you really wanted. its totally up to you.

  • I love this hair!!! How long did it take? Also, what is this song?

  • @Affettoinc- I have a few videos that will help with that questions but it usually takes about 5 hrs for me to do by myself. This doesn't include the cornrows. Its a bit of work but it last 2 months.

  • i did mine on saturday! i used three packs of hair though, i am thinking about taking the two side braids out, it is very full!

  • @ItsNTheLips ..omg.. 3 packs.. thats a lot. 2 packs of hair is really full and nice... 2.5 is a lil better but 3 is too much. just have a friend take a scissor and cut off sum of the bulk. Thats what i did for my friend. it looks so much better.

  • my problem is seperating the hair and not getting it frizzy. about how my peices do you take when separating the hair.

  • Using 2 or 3 times depending on how it split. Not more than three and then i twirl it between my fingers. I have a tutorial did u see how i do it? that may help.

  • @pillowsoft65 i usually separate into two or three pieces. i have a step by step tutorial that would help. i separate the hair so you can see.

  • I love this, great job.

  • do you think straight human hair would look nice??

  • Okay so you make me want to buy a Fantasia album

Nice braids..I'll try this soon. Thanx for the tutorial

  • hey Toyvoice, I've did another crotchet braiding style this time with free tress French Deep

  • Oh cool. How did that one turn out? Are you gonna add another video.

  • Ive been doing my hair like this since I was about 11 years old but I never tried it with this kind of hair. It looks really good. I like the color mixed in it.

  • how many bags of hair did u use?

  • About 2.5

  • how much did it cost?

  • Less than 15 bucks

  • ok so i love the hair so i try it and it's HOT I WILL B PUTING UP PIC SOON.....;)

  • Great

  • This technique is beautiful...i love big kinky curly hair....I want to know how you remove this hair??

  • I have a removal video

  • i loveeeeeeeeeee it girl, imma try that style

  • Nice!

  • love it! i am ashamed to say i never heard of or seen any videos on this style. your hair looks natural. is it? mine is but its short. long enough to braid or twist but not much else. i been wanting something to do to my hair and im soo sooo happy to see this because its perfect, i really wasnt trying to go back to the wigs or weaves and im very tired of rocking my puff! so thank you!

  • Would it look good if it was just straight hair to instead of the curly

  • cute where did you get the hair

  • That is amazing, that's really cute and you did a great job explaining how to do that now I have to figure out how to braid my hair..lol

  • getting hair done like this tomorrow, its model/model glance/waterwave...

  • How did this come out. I dont know that model of hair.

  • Its the same curl pattern as yours just a lil shorter. I had 4/30 color very funky. I now have a sew in tho. I change my hair like crazy. Keep in touch.

  • How Did the Back of your hair come out?

  • I have other video's ( if you havent already seen then) that show more angles.

  • this style goes perfect for ya face. u are so pretty.. mwuahz

  • Aww thanks

  • I can't seem to keep ths hair/style from matting and getting super tangled by the 2nd week! I Loooove this style.. but it's just not lasting a long time! Help!!!

  • Hmm well what are you putting in it and how are you sleeping on it. Did you see my maintenance video? If not see if that helps.

  • that really looks great!!! you did an amazing job

  • Thanks

  • arent these kroshays>????/

  • whats better crochet or tree braids

  • I actually cant answer that cuz i have never tried tree braids. Sorry..

  • I can help answer this....as far as timing for me, this seems faster. Tree braids depends on the client's lenght and how big their head is. Believe me there are some huge craniums out there! Doing hair this way is a lot easier on the hands for me. It also looks better when the hair pulled up into a ponytail. Hopefully, soon I will be able to post some styles for ya.

  • I finally did this style. The only difference is I put singles from ear to ear in the front so it kinda looks like micros all over but not nearly as small. Now I can pin the braids back, keep the hair out of my face, and not worry about it blowing back.

So far I love it! It's alot like my real hair except with more curl and body, less product, and no more crazy bed head!

  • Thats great. Im happy your happy.

  • I like this lots! Have you tried it with any other types of hair. I can't find Fretress Waterwave where I live. Other Freetress is too straight/slick. Have you ever tried Jamaican braid to do this?

  • JAMAICAN BRAID...is so gorgeous. My next look!!!

  • I tried it last week with Jamaica Braid by FEMI Collection. It's like a rope but I separated it into 3 sections and it comes out sorta curly, but looks great! There is a lot out there called Jamaica Braid but the Femi collection one is the one I used.

  • I have never tried it with any other type of hair or even heard of jamaican braid. Is it possible for u to make a picture slide adn post a video response so i can see it? i would really appreciate it.

  • I don't have pics of it in my hair... had to take it out sooner than I wanted for a medical course I'm taking (it was too much hair in the way... lol). I'm going to put it back in as soon as the course is over. I don't know how to do the video response... all I have are some pics of the hair i used. I'll try to post those somehow.

  • OK... I posted a video response showing the hair I used but I don't know where it is or how to find it... HA!

  • LOL. I saw it. the hair looks very nice. I may try that hair next time. Thank you for showing me that.

  • Very cute.

  • how many packs did you use?

  • 2.5 packs

  • hi can i use wet n wavy hair too?

  • Hmm im not sure. It may be too straight to hold. You can try a braid or two and see what happens. Im thinking no though

  • ok thanx!!

  • yes u can

  • yes

  • is that michelle williams

  • no fAntasia

  • What type of Freetress did you use? Is it human hair or synthetic?

  • It's synthetic hair, freetree bulk waterwave was the kind.

  • wow this is amazing!! your hair looks great!!! im totally doing this next week!! i have a quick ?? if you didnt want it to be part down the middle and intsead for the braids to fall down your forhead and create sort of a bang how would you go about doing that? im sorry if my question is confusing but i hope you understand what i mean! awesome hair!! thanks again! :)

  • hmm i guess u could try to part out a section in the middle big enough for your bang and braid that section down your face. tie the loose ends up and crotch like that. i guess you can try that...????? Tell me how it works out...lol.. sorry thats my best guess.

  • in order to acheive that style..you could change the braid pattern..instead of straigh back cornrows. you should do the beehive. similar to that of a full head weave

  • Yea thats a good idea im just not the greatest braider. Thanks tho

  • great Idea, for bangs!

  • Yeah great idea. There's another vid on here...sorry I forgot who, but she braid her hair three diff ways. The front going to the left , slant...the right side was almost like being braided to the back, and the back was actually braided into a spiral, which gave a beautiful look to a high ponytail.

  • i kno who u are talking about... i think her name is finicalfreedom or something like that, yea her hair is FIERCE :0) i jus watched her vid 2day and her results are natural looking bc she did micro braids

  • How long did the style last? Til February? It looks beautiful.

  • I think that time i left them in 8 weeks. This time i will leave it in about 6.5 to 7 weeks. I want my fro back.

  • nice!!!

  • Thanks

  • hey toysvoice! Who is the artist in your video? I really like the song. Is it the Nigerian artist name Nneka? It just sounds like her to me. Thanks for the song info. I appreciate it.

  • Song is called Bore me (Yawn) and it's by Fantasia

  • Hey, how did you keep yours from frizzing, tangling and matting?

  • I dont really do anything. I have a small maintenance video i just put up that will help.

  • thats really cute luv

  • Thanks

  • Cut the hair down to like an inch from the braid and then unbraid your cornrows. The hair will come right out. Took me less than an hour.

  • HI!

Can you wash or wet this hair.. and it maintain it's look/texture/ curl?

  • I didnt wash it with shampoo and stuff. I used organic root stimulator herbal cleanse dry shampoo to cleanse my scale..( didn't really like it) and like i put sum on the hair and took a damp cloth and wiped/ squeezed the hair just to get the excess dirt off. I didnt really care to get it clean so i only did that 1 a month. It aint my hair..lol.. that my thinking. But it got wet and stuff and was fine. Rain sleet and snow.

  • Thanks for your response! I was just wondering because I'm going to try this style for my vacation.. and I will be going swimming..

Hopefully it will hold up ok.

Thanks again for your time! I ordered the hair and it just arrived! I can't wait to try it! Please post your tutorial soon. I like how yours came out better (as opposed to the other few I've seen here on youtube).

  • Hey!!!!!!!!!I found you....You need to do a tutorial so I can copy you!

  • Your hair looks great. I need a recession proof hairstyle and this is it. I will do this style in March 2009! Keep up the wonderful work girl!

  • Please share a video about how it's applied!!! ( or at least a close-up on your roots with a brief explanation if you got it done!!) LOVE THIS STYLE!

  • I wont be doing this style again till march... ( i just took it out) but when i do i will make a vid. For the mean time you can watch blkbuttaflies cuz thats where i got the method from. She explains it pretty well. Well enough for me to get this on the first try.

  • Comment removed

  • how much did you cut?

  • I actually didn't cut anything but some fly aways when i finished. This is just the length it is.

  • whoaaaaaaaa! i love this OMGosh!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Aww thank you.

  • nice. I ordered the same hair yesterday. I can't wait until it gets here!

  • Cool. Please make a vid so i can see how ya did. LOL.

  • you did a great job. I love doing crochet braids they are so easy to do, look natural and are great if you can't do single braids (like me) Lol......

  • Thanks. I actually love sinlge braids but my edges are very weak and come out at the drop of a dime. Plus the taking out process is crazy. It took me 50 mins to take my crotches out. I was soo amazed and happy!!

  • The hair looks fabulous ...! I have tried this style before and the hair that I used was hard to separate before i put it in when I tried it would open and become very tangled and bushy ...so my question is how did you separate the hair and maintain the clean curl ?

  • The hair i used was very easy to seperate. Its called Freetress Waterwave Bulk hair. It was really nice and soft. I didnt do anything to maintain the curl but i heard sum people put a little curl activator gel on each strand before they put it in. You can try that if you need but i did mine as well as my cuz and it came out beautiful without it. Hope that helps.

  • Thank you for replying I see you are from the BX me too I want to get that brand of hair which store did you get yours from? because I have looked every where and can't find the brand in the store i see it online but it will take to long to get here i am going away in a week...please say you got it from a store i am driving myself nuts trying to find this brand trying 125th tomorrow...

  • I live in parkchester so i bought it on the big beauty supply store right under the parkchester station on westchester avenue. Its in the back to the left of the store by the brushes and combs. Hope you find it.

  • thank you thank you for all of your help i found the hair and felt such relief...so thank you thank you

  • looks natural, I like it.

  • Thank ya kindly

  • how many packs of hair did u use

  • about 2.5

  • thanks for the response!! another quick question how do you keep from getting tangled?? at night to you tie it down or sleep in a satin bonnet??

  • I sleep in a satin bonnet but it still gets tangled. So once i week i slather on sum s curl gel and pull it apart. Other than that i just literally shake my head and go in the morning. Like 3 times a week i will spray it with s curl activator to keep it nice i guess. thats what i was told to do and next week will be 2 months and it still looks really good. I could def keep it in longer.

  • when you pulled the hair apart from the pack how many times did you pull it apart??

  • i pulled it apart once or twice. twice on the sides n once towards the front middle. If u pull it twice then you will go thru less packs.

  • How many strands of hair did you use on each braid row?

Also, once you put the fake hair in did you tie it twice or what method did you use?

Lastly, did you use synthetic hair in your cornrow?

  • ok so it was different depending on the row group...

i have 18 braids so 9 on each side

the first four braids on each side i put only 4 strands

    the second 2 i put about 6-8

the the next row got about 10

and the last two at the top where packed in

once i put the hair in i did tie it twice like blkbuttaflies shows in her video.

    lastly..

i did not use synthetic hair in the cornrow.. just my own god given..

    hope that helps

  • which type of activator do u use and do u apply to the whole strand or just to the middle of the strand

  • ummm when i was putting the strands in i actually did it dry.. i didnt add any activator or anything.. i learned later that would be good. I was just really careful to not make the hair fuzzy when i pulled it apart..

now when i use the activator its the gel one once a week. i usually just kinda put my hair in four sections and put a big glob onmy hands and smooth it down a section. then i pull the hair apart and undo the tangles and knots. i also use the spray one like 2 times a weeks.

  • the brand i bought was luster's s curl. its ok, just sticky and i hate the feeling but hey.. it aint going on my real hair so what ever. I just learned not to touch my hair during the day. LOL.

    Hope that helps

  • ur hair is beautiful i was wondering if thats the only type hair u can use for crocheting..for example straight hair would it look right

  • i don't think straight hair will work cuz the knots are pretty loose. The curls are what seems to hold them in. like at the cornrow the knots are loose but its a month and not one strand has come out. If you use straight hair i heard someone say you would have to use glue... imma pass on that. LOL

  • thank you or answering..my next question would be do you was your hair while its in this style and if so how do u use a spray or applicator bottle

  • i do wash it with organic root stimulator herbal cleanse dry shampoo. umm i dont like it very much but it cleans it pretty well. i hate the smell of alcohol n its very strong in this. i usually dont use things that have alcohol n alcohol is the second ingredient. if you don't mind the smell n alcohol then go for it. also there is a strong tingle..lol. but it does clean. next time i do it i wont buy this again. i may just do witch hazel on a cotton ball to cleanse my scalp.

  • 3 Questions because I really want this style:

    1. How many cornrows did you do and were they braided across or straight back?

    2. Can I swim with crochet braids in?

    3. what brand and type of hair did you use?

Thank you! I'm looking to get this done for my spring break trip to the Bahamas. Yours are the best I've seen on youtube so far. Very full. Beautiful.

  • I did 18 braids straight back.

I honestly don't know if you can swim with it. I wouldn't try but u can ask the the other two ladies about that (unprhodictable or blkbuttaflies)

I used Freetress Bulk hair the water wave kind.

    Hope that helps

  • how long do you think this will last?

  • I think I can make it last till at least the beginning of February. I am aiming for the middle of February. We'll see.

  • just an update..

its been about a month and i am still getting lots of compliments on it. I have now gelled the front and put a scarf on it to lay it back then pinned the front half up. It looked really nice and kinda elegant... imma making this last man...lol. but i def think i can make it till the middle of February.

  • this is GORGEOUS!

  • olá eu sou do brasil e adorei esse vídeo e essa técnica show de bola parabêns! bjos vou ver se faço no meu cabelo. claudia

  • I dont understand you but i hope it means you like it...lol.. thanks i hope.

  • This is real cute! And 4 hours from start to finish is great :)

  • thanks ... its really easy.. i promise

  • lol u better make a video toya!! ima do it to my sis hair!

  • So very pretty!
