The floor is built on valve springs from a Chevrolet engine, spaced on 16 inch centers. There are well over 2000 springs under the floor.
On top of the springs are two layers of 3/4 inch plywood. The top layer of plywood is centered on the junction of the corners of the four sheets underneath.
On top of the plywood are Swain Gold Medal mats -- same mats at the '96 Olympics in Atlanta.
Finish with a vapor barrier, then a canvas top. The canvas is stretched via bungee cords & rubber bands.
