Go to this channel to check out my NEW song called "ISLAND". I know what ur thinking, and you probably think its going to suck, BUT it's actually pretty catchy. So check it out n let me know what you think.
I'm here because of 120 Minutes on MTV back in the late 80's. MTV used to be a window into the world of the unknown to us kids from rural America back then. If you lived in a small community, devoid of culture in any sense, you found anyone wanting to escape the status quo searching for these windows. Mine was 120 Minutes. That brought me to The Lemonheads. Lemonheads to Mudhoney. Mudhoney to Nirvana. Nirvana to The Pixies. The Pixies to Sugar. Sugar to Bob. Bob to Husker Du.
0:17 "That's the IDS building...see that big glass one? Tallest skyscraper in the Midwest after the Sears...uh...Chicago...John Hancock building, whatever."
@VanderGraafBozo Don't worry, there is hope. You just gotta know where to look. For example, check out this new band Kicking Spit. Basically the sound of Husker Du, Dinosaur Jr, and everything awesome about 80s hardcore in a blender.
I'm 22 and I barely saw any of the 80s and didn't have a chance to experience the 80s college rock scene as well but I love bands like the Pixies, Husker Du, and Dinosaur Jr.
hahah, i think my dad told me years ago.. that everyone is the band is gay, except for the the bassist guy with the mustache -- who looks the most gay!
High, i have a song with sweet melodies called I Salute You which inspired me to get all nostalgic and write about my musical upbringing. Its a pretty Rockin' song with a cool video that makes it look like famous musicians are playing my song!! Here plug it in and take a brief trip: watch?v=VXnxOpUfsBQ
@ruggsville59 i think they retired at just the right time, their last album was pretty damn good, but if they kept going they would have become more overproduced and less raw. part of being a good band is knowing when to throw in the towel, and Husker Du did so at just the right time.
One of my all time fave bands. I bought ''Warehouse:Songs and Stories'' as soon as it came out in 1987. Already had their other albums, all on vinyl. I was 25. Had the lp sticker on a wall for several years. Great band and great times. Still play their lps over and over. Criminal that they didn't make it really big, same with The Replacements. Thanks for the posting.
I graduated from hardcore punk to Husker Du and IRS era REM gradually in the mid 1980s until everything else sounded like greasy kid stuff.
But I haven't listened to this in almost twenty years and it still sounds relevant and fresh - the video is timeless, yet ten years ahead of it's own time.
And I only just found out what the bands name means!
I have been a fan of Husker Du since the 80's, & just like they sang when this song was first released, the world "STILL" doesn't make any sense at all.
@stevewgraham Yes, in some things this is bad...but I think this is way, they choose...and i adore them for it ....and their music of course. :D (And iam sorry for my english. Iam czech.)
hey! does anyone know who the older lady dancing with the drink in her hand towards the end of the video?? I love watching her. This video and song is bad-ass. so much better and realistic than the crap on MTV today. Husker forever baby!!
Saw Husker Du a # of times & in 1983 with Mission of Burma @ Mavericks. 2 power trios. Fantastic. Bob & Grant were gay-irrelevant.
