Wow, you're such a strong woman. I really really enjoyed watching your video even tough I don't know anyone who's in the military or the navy. Now I feel lucky that my boyfriend's gone for only 2 weeks when I heard you were 8 months without your husband.
Hey Irene! this was SO interesting and I thank you for doing it! wow 8 months apart, that must have been tough, but you seem so strong! I could never ever do it, I take my hat off to you! :) I hate clicky people, even school moms are like that! LOL
Great vid Irene! Hey off topic but do you watch the show Homeland? I love it!
Wow, I've probably moved more than 15 times in my life and I'm only 23...without military parents. It effing sucks. This video was interesting though. I work for the VA so I am gonna do all I can to help our veterans :)
Hi Irene. My son is in the Navy and is currently going to (C)school in Dam Neck VA.. I really enjoyed your video. It was interesting to hear what life is like from a Navy wife's perspective. I think it takes a very strong and brave women to be married to a Sailor. I have a friend who has been married to her Sailor for 26 years. She has a plaque that says: "Navy Wife. Hardest Job In the Navy."
I enjoyed this video! I am a Navy wife as well...soon to be ex Navy wife, because my husband is getting out of the service soon. I agree with everything you've said about the lifestyle, as well as the cliquey wives. I never made friends with them because of this...and even if I would have, they would've moved, or I would've moved eventually. So it's hard to make and keep friends in this lifestyle. Moving does suck, we're going through our final move back home right now since he's getting out.
This will sound odd, but I wish you were one of my friends. I'd love to keep you company when your hubby is away. You are such a cool and genuine person :-)
I met my boyfriend two years ago and we've recently started dating officially four months ago. He's in the army stationed in Fort Lewis. I live California so its not that big of a deal but its still hard. he is being deployed next year and i'm trying really hard to not think about it. Your tips really helped. Thank you :)
I have no idea what its like in a military lifestyle but I've moved across the country twice. This last time the distance was twice as long and we drove (IL to CA). A few days after we settled in I was sick for over 2 weeks. My body just broke down after I was done with everything lol I will say its a teensy bit easier once you've done it before but it still really sucks.
Oh Irene....I'm the same way. Been a Army wife for 12 years and I stay far away from the "clicky" wives. I only have 3 really good military wives as friends but I swear you would think these women never left high school...it's just to much drama for me so I stay away. Life is a lot less stressful when I do. I also hate when wives of soldiers using their husbands rank as their own....yeah that is something I will never put up with. Hope you feel better soon!
haha growing up in Kitsap made me never want to settle down with a military guy. I totally understand that idea. I've always had tons of respect for those who live this lifestyle, for I don't know if I could. Great video Irene! Those cliquey wives seem like they're missing out on a great friend. :-)
8 years we live in parsonages and can't make changes to our home...we also have a walk through each year done by a team from our local church. The next move will be the hardest move because our oldest is married and settled with a child it will be hard to leave them
LOL I live in Hamptons Roads VA. It is a huge military area!! We are Coast Guard, but living on the Air Force Base. I love the area! I have noticed that there is a lot of wives who act like highschoolers, and it drives me crazy! Luckily I was able to find a small handful of wives who are not like that! I love the military life, and can't imagine not being apart of this lifestyle!!
me and my hubby have been in san diego for a lil over 6 months now and i havent made friends with any of the other wives ether i agree how its like high school.
My hubby is a pilot - - aviators are gone ALLLL the time. As they say, the military is his mistress and the b**ch always gets him!! :D He's currently deployed - been gone since Jan and will b bk in Mar! 1 yr 3 mo.
I love being a MIL wife... love moving... love it that he loves his job... love the health care and discounts. But you really repay all the benefits by losing a yr of your life together ... actually way more than that cuz of all the training and missions even when he's stateside.
This was interesting! The power of attorney thing is something I am just learning about, but I will keep it in mind ...

I'm sorry if you've answered this already, but do you have a day time job? If you move so much does that mean you change jobs all the time?
