Awwwww Shiiiitttttt....!!!!!! this song... was it back then.... wooooaaaaahhhhhh... danced danced danced to dis wrap back in da good ol' days...... On disco nights, your name will be seen...... party here, party there... everywhere.....
There's a reason why funk/disco (any dance genres) don't last very long.
Very few of these musicians are actually iconic because not much positive light is shed on them (at least not for long periods of time). I agree with @Megatrousers, certain artists are looked as plain great.
@DeceptiveCakes I'm glad that young people listen and like this kind of music. Hopefully they will bring back the Funk and actual singing. We should encourage them and not put them down. They are the future. I don't like the sampling and remakes that people are making with the oldies, but it is exposing young people to music they don't know about. Hopefully they will look up the original songs and be inspired to create new music with the old vibe.
Taylor Swift.. No Talent..LMAO... You pick the one white chick in Music today that actually has a shit load of talent.. They all have some type of talent.. its called making money..don't disrespect any body you people refer too.. they have the talent of making money! When they are dead and gone, plenty of people will remember their "stereotyping" asses.. no one will remember you.. except your mom..
@101rashad i agree completely. Great music, fashion, good economies, and just a great way of living. of course i wouldn't know because the only decade out of the three that i lived in was the 90s but my mom tells me all about the 70s and 80s.
@NiceGirlCalledMia Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Well the Platters had good music back in the 50s and Otis Redding, James Brown were pretty hot back in the 60s but i didnt too much care for the Beatles and Elvis lol
the Gang hit #8 in Billboard, 1-12-80. God bless ya, for postin' it. JT Taylor should put down his pride, and come back to the group, right, gang? Thanx!
I recall that so much of the music back then was about dancing and having fun. It appealed to all different groups of people, except maybe the very old. Remember the beer commercial a couple decades ago that had this song. It was very funny with hairy men dressing as women to get the reduced prices on ladies night:)
Last night we went to see Kool and the Gang, and Commodores, at Thunder Valley Casino... It doesn't get any better than that. Me and the Lady never sat down!
@mchelo18 Great let the music evolve. Or for ever be stuck on 45s and eight tracks. Actually those are kool. But 1600 to 2011 music is all good to me . Not all of it but every year since we started banging drums there have been good beats and BAD beats. Music is very much like food . You either like lots of things or your fusssy and will not eat your peas. NP
@IveGotTheNuts sorry i dont want to eat my peas if it comes from a shitty restaurant, i want it from a good restaurant that actually has talented cooks and chefs that make great food.....and the older the wine the better, hope you understand the metaphor
@IveGotTheNuts I'd like to add too , music is like food. You have healthy good tasting food , that isn't accepted by everyone but should be tried at least once , and junk food that alot of people like to eat but it really isn't good food.
"Brothers" really knew their stuff back then and imposed the rules in music. Only a few of today's black artists have half the music talent and music knowledge any more. Everything this days is about drugs, sex and profanity.
@simitube2k Exactly..even though cocaine was a big problem in the late 70s and 80s..it was never mentioned in lyrics ''and I snorted some of that shit on ma way to meet some bitches''...like rappers would today..
@simitube2k just black? and besides half the damn beats are made by nonblacks. Hip hop is now a commercial tool. I still believe the 80s and 90s hip hop movement was a + , but the commercialization to better market the music is what watered it down, why? Because a majority of the population wants to see how ghetto and ignorant black people can be. Why? To further perpetuate their racist opinions to have actual fruition. While people who have absolutely no talent in the white world(taylor swift)
@ineedsomescrilla142 can sing garbage and make millions, without having to throw up some ignorant fucking ghetto shit out there. I mean look at lil wayne rick ross and all these posers. Do you think they were actual gangbangers? No they had some paki producer make some nice beats and pretended to be thug bangers cus some white man can sign them and they can make the big bucks. the media, and the racist jaded views of blacks, whites, asians etc. allows for such garbage to sell.
@simitube2k These days? REALLY? LOL. Have you heard of KC & The Sunshine Band? N.W.A? I enjoy this music, but it's obvious you haven't listened to 80's music.
@simitube2k this is feel good music that lil wayne cant touch. I'm willing to bet if you play this in a car and sing along with your friends that everybody would be having a good time
@Cimmcia You are totally wrong my good friend. Today is Sunday and a good day for you to go to church and remove any negative ideas like the one you just wrote about. I have many good frieds that are black and would do almost anything for them. I love my "brothers", do you?
