She only won because in that semi final stage, before she hit rock bottom she told them about writing this book while she was in tears and expressing full emotion which got the judges emotional too. fucking easily sucked in bastards. two words: zero consolation.

When Julie spoke about her ideas for her book on Masterchef, she showed passion for cooking and before even seeing the book just her description of what she wanted to put in it sounded like it was going to be a good book. when it came out and before i got it i actually asked around if anyone had brought it and got so many comments of yes go and buy it that i did, and i dont regret it one bit.

first time i read through this book i cried, have used it now on many occasions making recipes from scratch or just taking ideas from it, and it really is a wonderfully well written and presented book. i especially love the last chapter where you can add your own recipes.

Julie won for a reason, because lets face it, most people cant cook chef recipes even with a book or even if they did manage to make it look like the picture it probably still tastes crap. What Julie cooks and created in her book taste like a restaurant but with a easy to do,family approach and for that she should be proud.

@Toots1956 - the fact I do know so much would not require me to go on an amateur cook show - so your answer lies within your question. Julie won because of her magic ingredient which seemed to put the judges into a hallucinogenic state of bias. It seems if you have sweat pouring from your brow into your dishes (like Julie did on several occasions) you will win Ozzie Masterchef.
