As a stand alone, Rebirth was ok, but paled to what they got in Japan (Headmasters). When compared to the previous season, Rebirth makes no sense because the war pretty much ended in season 3. Rebirth may have been better if it had been a full season, and all the new characters Hasbro wanted to sell wasn't shoehorned in all at once.
@DecepticonSpike The war wasn't over at the end of "The Return Of Optimus Prime". All Galvatron said was that they weren't going to fight now that the Hate Plague was gone. There's no indication that the war was over and even before "Rebirth" and the Japanese season four, the showrunners were planning to continue the war in a season four. As to the introduction of the new characters, did you watch the season premires of the first two seasons?
I get what you are saying about introducing new characters, but the Japanese did it a lot better. And then for Convoy to actually return and save the day - it was basically the end of Rod's credibility. Looking back I think it would've been great if Rodimus had had a chance to step out of Convoy's shadow.
As for the Headmasters, I'm partial to the Japanese version of their origin.
The major problem with Rebirth is that Marvel had done the Headmaster origin story already a *lot* better in the comic book series, and the Rebirth story definitely comes off as garbage in comparison.
@bonzot Part 1 - As far as the US TV show goes, it ended with The Rebirth

Sorry for all these comments, i guess I got too carried away, lol
The majority of the TF: Zone was told through a series of story pages in TV Magazine.
Return of Convoy continued the storyline, picking up where Zone left off. The storyline revolved around the return of Optimus Prime as Star Convoy and his battle against Dark Nova and resurrected Super Megatron.
Operation Combination is the very end, with G1 Ending here before beng cancelled and not to be revived until 1995, In Japan atleast.
@bonzot in rebirth glavatron was reborn (hince the name) in to a golden planet and the autobots celebrated cerebro brianstorm cromedome hard head and highbrow stays on nebrou to protect it and the decepticons gets kicked off glavatron flying round space in scorpinok the final screen is with zarak and galvi agruing finla line zarak we will see galvatron we will see
No, it's the end of season 3 of G1. What we got as the "G2" cartoon was just G1 episodes edited with new effects, and the annoying "cyber space cube" or whatever it was called.
I love the Transformers, it was a key part of my childhood. But, The Rebirth was the dumbest thing since they killed Optimus Prime twice. As a kid the 3rd season was hard to go through, and the 4th was almost impossible. For me the first 2 seasons are the best, then the 3rd and forget the 4th. LONG LIVE THE AUTOBOTS AND DECEPTICONS, MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!!!!
It's one of G1's many, many animation errors. In the story, though, Prime was sprayed with an element to protect himself from the virus, and it made him look gray.
Yeah I wasn't into "The Rebirth", The writers said they knew the plug was being pulled on the show and the tried to cram as many characters in as they could. I think the ending of this should've been the end of G1 as well
@RadarKat73080 actually, Galvatron was never able to defeat Rodimus Prime, and i think unicron made him lighter, because if you see the headmasters episode ''birth of double prime'' you will see why.
i agree with you on this one. ive never seen rebirth but this would make a great ending. also the japanese continued this searies. SPOILER ALERT! ultra magnus dies in the japanese continuation and they launch him into a lake like kirk launched the deceased spock onto genesis.
Luckily the G1 series continued thru Headmasters, Masterforce & Victory series in Japan. Plus can't forget the Zone & Scramble City episodes. If I'm not mistaken, that's another 117 episodes to add to the U.S. G1 series.
My ONLY complaint about that scene (which was awesome) is how short that last shot was. If I'd had my way, they would have held it for at least a few more seconds. Y'know, show them ride off into the sunset and whatnot. Gotta get those commercials in though, I guess.
Also one thing just occured to me. In the final scene, aren't they inside Metroplex/Autobot City (because isn't that where Optimus unleashed the Matrix)? If so, just where are they rolling out to?
@Yourwolf1976 Chris Latta dead? What a shame. Mad props to that man for producing the greatest cartoon voice ever, Cobra Commander... ...and Starscream as well.
I heard a while back they were releasing the Headmasters series ondvd in the U.S. With the original G1 actors dubbed into it. Anyone else hear about that?
Actually in one dub, he calls himself a "Ninja CONSULTANT"
I mean, what does that job entail? Doing seminars on the correct way to field an army of ninjas? Telling the decepticons that they need to restrategise their ninja budget? Ninja human resource work?
This is from the final episode of season 3 transformers from a 2-part story, The return of optimus prime. It's available to watch on youtube if you want (Uploaded in 4 smaller parts) by a different user I think. That will explain the colour difference, without spoiling the story for those who haven't seen it.
He was covered in a special alloy by the humans so he wouldn't catch that rage virus that made everyone fight each other regardless of which side they were on. He had to wear it so he could take the matrix off Rodimus.
i agree with you this had the war finaly ending wich is great to see then they ruin it with the rebirth i liked that story but they sould have done rebirth as a one off to advitse the new toys still galvie rant at the end with zarrak is awsome
I just wish they made a good dubbed version of it... With good voices, like almost sounding like the originals.
Someone should get alot of voice actors like Dr. Smoov to make a dubbed version. I just want to see more adventures that has that same feeling... And the voices are part of this feeling.... But It will never happen.... =-(
But also.... I think the Rebirth episode is one of the best Season 3 episodes because Optimus is back... =-D
I think The Headmasters was waaaay better than the piece of shit American ending, provided that you can accept the differences in the way the characters were presented. WTF was up that BS heads become exosuits and green ppl?! Pure shit.
Lightsanime, I would agree with that. There are some things I didn't like about Headmasters like the way Ultra Magnus ended up & Rodimus leaving on his journey, but overall it was way better than that Rebirth bullshit (as long as you stay away from the English dub)!
I didn't think the series was that bad, but had it been dubbed with the original voice actors, it would have kept G1 going in the US, it was actually dubbed elsewhere and the American ending was skipped by many countries and accepted Headmasters instead.
I actually liked Headmasters overall. Other than a few things here & there (killing Optimus off again for example) it was a good show. It took a little while to get used to the Japanese perspective on Transformers & was 10X better than than three rushed episodes of b.s. the US got. Now if it could have been dubbed in English by the original cast rather than those no talent actors, that would be icing on the cake!
My thoughts exactly, however I must add that overall, despite some of the things not likeable about it, it was still a lot better than Season 3 because Galvatron was more like himself in the movie, didn't have some ultra shit episodes like Nightmare planet or the King Arthur episode, what were they thinking?!
Gen 1 did have some really crazy episodes. Maybe due to the fact that they had to churn out so many in season 2. Guess they were just running out of ideas.
Another positive note on Headmasters is that I liked the continuing storyline over the american episodes that could be shown in any order (with some exceptions) from any given season & it wouldn't make a difference.
Actually, the 1st season has a plot and needed a specific order to watch the episodes in, it was real anime, season 2 discarded the anime story-telling for single-story episodes, but Headmasters brought that back, which is why Season 1 and Headmasters are the best in terms of story, that's not to say season 2 wasn't good, it was great but a continuity would have made it better the way shows like Cowboy Bebop was made, each episode different, yet has a specific order.
He was alive in the 3 episode American Headmasters saga. In the Japanese version which lasted 35 or 36 episodes (I forget right now) they kill him again in the 3rd episode. This series had it's good points & bad points. Optimus dying a year or so after his resurrection... not one of my favorite moments!
@amartinez97 Yes, from what I understand Japan Headmasters scrapped the story from Rebirth, so basically it went from Return Of OP to "4 Warriors from the sky" (HM Season premiere).
Prime comes back for the first, what was it 4 to 6 episodes?
SPOILERS
But he dies, sacrificing himself to save Cybertron because Vector Sigma was about to go super postal (in a matter of speaking). If I remember, he merged with VS (just like Alpha Trion did), which is how he died.
@NewEraOutlaw Yeah. I mean series 4 was only like three episodes and it seemed rushed a bit. I say that with something like this, You either continue with it Proberly or simply stop where its Perfect.
@ozzycrocker87 Indeed. But I'd say it was very rushed to introduce new toys...er, I mean characters. Personally, I think if Hasbro had just done what Japan did and use the Headmasters series to contniue g1, it would have been for the best.
Look, how come Optimus is colored in one scene and the next hes all white and covered in the alloy? Shitty production, that's why TF should never be co-produced between different countries, in this case Japan and US.
If time was given for the Japanese animators it would have been so much better.
It would be cool if they remade G1, and I mean from scratch, redraw everything and put the sound effects back in and use the remaining living actors to add some new dialogue as it was rushed at times
@lightsanime actually have you seen any of the japanese g1 transformers episodes?....the animation WAS excatly the same and even for a while both the us/european show and the jap version were the same,ok as time went on the jap version went off the wall, for example both optimus prime AND rodimus prime in the same scenes together fighting side by side but initally they were the very same tv show
Respond to this video... i have to disagree with you when you say the japanese animators would have done a better job,if any of the newer series from japan, even in their "imported versions",ie dubbed into english are anything to go by it mite have been cgi such as energon, cybertron etc and they look shite, and the story lines are rubbish too as well as some of the most irritating characters ever to turn up in transformers
Another problem with season 3 is that they took TF as a joke many times. Also, they really messed up Grimlock's character, so many animation errors, Season 1 &2 had less combined but that was normal for shows in those days, since it was co-produced between Japan and the US, it was rushed and it happened a 2nd time with the Unicron Trilogy. And finally, Frank Welker's Galvatron was shit, Leonard Nemoy's was much more menacing and more engaging, this one's just a whiny little chicken shit bitch.
I don't think it should have ended there, I just thing Optimus Prime's return should have been more epic than THAT. Season 4 was so unbelievably crap that I HAVE to ignore it and go with the Japanese continuity as it was so much better and despite Prime dying AGAIN they allowed more originality with Masterforce and Victory and gave us really cool Transformers like Star Saber.
These storyboards must have been sequenced out of order...Prime loses his paintjob in the crane shot.
And before a million fanbois send me emails, I realize he didn't "lose" the paintjob and that it's the alloy that stops the spores...blah blah omfgnerdalert blah :P
Nah, I'm not gonna say anything like that, your right certain parts were generally flipped around alot, but I would also put it down to the artists forgetting to paint him the right colour, that was quite common durin the show, one big example were the Decepticon Seekers.
2 main reasons: 1. In Beast Wars Optimus and Megatron speak of peace between the 2 factions that's lasted for centuries. Maybe Galvatron decided to make the peace ongoing (which I know sounds farfetched), but maybe the plague waz kinda like being in a nightmare that you can't control. Which can scare the crap outta the biggest tyrant. So maybe he granted Optimus peace for that.
2. The Matrix is no longer around in Beast Wars. Did it maybe remain empty?
I read that the screenwriter for G1, Flint Dille, said that there was a full season 4 planned, but due to the lack of popularity of season 3, even with Prime's resurrection, they figured it was better to end it.
He was quoted as saying that the season would have centered around Unicron teaming up with the Quintessons against the Transformers.
Besides I don't think the creators see Rebirth as season 4, I think that it was seen more as a special feature length ep to mark the end of the show...
Well, in the cartoon he was built by a scientist named Primacron as a weapon. in the Marvel comics, he was the oppisite of Primus, the Transformers God, which makes him the devil.
oh damn ..thats a giant thing to build ..seriously, all the metal and technology..that had to cost a lot of cash, where did the funding come from? how many employees were on staff? how many work hours? anyway to find out this information? i gotta know!
When he got destroyed,..any management staff lose their job? that sounds like a big fuckup right there to let something like that happen. didnt the engineers take into account the possible chance of meeting up with the autobot matrix??
I've always loved this scene, especially after a long time of Rodimus blowing up peoples homeworlds on purpose and putting all the Autobots in mortal danger continously.
Apparently Rebirth (season 4) was orginally supposed to be about 12 episodes (or possibly a few less) but for whatever reason (i've since forgotten the reason) they had to cram the storyline of 12 episodes (or so) into 6 episodes, then that into 3.
a real good way to end the series and movies.i know Gavaltron wants to help them.Remember the animated movie? He was supposdly under the rule of that guy.
I agree, this would have been a very good ending to the series.
As for Rebirth... wish they'd continued, even if I didn't find the Headmasters concept very appealing(kinda cheapened the TFs, being only able to do really well with human pilots).
hey rhdj98 he didnt want peace galvatron has much respect for prime and if u watch both parts of return of optimus prime u would see y and as for the ending of gi its a good ending but the rebirth of cybertron would not be told they did it in the 4th season only 3 eps but they did it it was kinda corny but they had a deadline at sunbow when they made the last eps so all of u need your transformers knowledge prime out
earned galvatron's respect????? they are enimies the autobots would die to defend good not make peace btw galvatron wants nothing more then the autobots 2 die not to be friends with them
the g1 series were the best out of all i think they shouldve ended it there but no they went and made that bullshit headmaster and masterforce crap man i want my money back dam u hasboro dam you to hell and thank you charleston heston how cool was that planet of the apes baby
If I were optimus at that time Id say to galvatron yes and youve earned optimus primes respect! Then Id kill him in front of the decepticons to prove that tommorow there wouid be no more war at all besides megatron killed optimus and galvatron is megatron.
Galvatron doesn't make peace the war just continues ''tomorrow'' (no war today) Ribith was a better ending, the Decepticons are lost in space, and a second golden age begins on Cybertron, the story that began in ep 1 had its good ending. but if Hasbro wasn't so cheap season 4 would have been longer, season 5 made up of new episodes and G2 would have been a new series...
Season 5 was made in 1988. it had old season 1-3 episodes plus the movie with different intro's Bumpers and outro's. Powermaster Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and a human boy talk the episodes together. in live action scenes. Hasbro still wanted to make the show, BUT as cheap as possible! that is why G1 ended, butget, believe me s5 was a surprise too me to!
yes we must. Hasbro made butget cut after butget cut on the show. (bad animation on a few eps on season 2, different animation studio, shorter episodes, less eps a season. 5 part Ribirth became a 3 parter, etc.) like it or not season 5 is part of G1. with 118 eps total. 1988 was the same year as the second jp show. with other words us G1 wasn't over. Hasbro was just cheap. a second attempt too make a show cheap became G2. you have too accept s5 too understand why G1 ended.
You do realize that by reusing old episodes, and putting new front ends and outros on them, it DOESN'T make it a new season, right?
When the G2 toyline came out, they did the same thing. They showed the original episodes with CGI segment transistions in place of the original spinning Autobot/Decepticon icons, that wasn't a "new season" either.
A "new season" is exactly that, NEW episodes. You don't call slight reworkings of old episodes a "new" season. Hasbro released the G2 line and to coincide with it, they aired the G2 cartoon which was nothing more than the original episodes with extra scene transitions. It had absolutely nothing new passed that. Therefore, it wasn't a "new sseason", reguardless of new toys coming out or not.
hay i agree. but for Hasbro it was a new season and G2 a new series! they should have been new episodes but because Hasbro was cheap we got what we got.
hay i agree. but for Hasbro it was a new season and G2 a new series! they should have been new episodes but because Hasbro was cheap we got what we got.

Where did Prime's color go?
DarkmatterXIII 1 year ago
@DarkmatterXIII
It's one of G1's many, many animation errors. In the story, though, Prime was sprayed with an element to protect himself from the virus, and it made him look gray.
DecepticonSpike 1 year ago
Yeah I wasn't into "The Rebirth", The writers said they knew the plug was being pulled on the show and the tried to cram as many characters in as they could. I think the ending of this should've been the end of G1 as well
boonatron 1 year ago
If I were Galvatron, I accept defeat! He couldn't beat Rodimus Prime and he sucked!
RadarKat73080 1 year ago
@RadarKat73080 actually, Galvatron was never able to defeat Rodimus Prime, and i think unicron made him lighter, because if you see the headmasters episode ''birth of double prime'' you will see why.
aquelescaraaaaaaaaaa 1 year ago
@aquelescaraaaaaaaaaa Exactly my point. Megatron needed all the Decepticons' powers to beat Optimus mano y mano or Hot Rod to hide behind.
RadarKat73080 1 year ago
i agree with you on this one. ive never seen rebirth but this would make a great ending. also the japanese continued this searies. SPOILER ALERT! ultra magnus dies in the japanese continuation and they launch him into a lake like kirk launched the deceased spock onto genesis.
Sonicfan1396 1 year ago
Luckily the G1 series continued thru Headmasters, Masterforce & Victory series in Japan. Plus can't forget the Zone & Scramble City episodes. If I'm not mistaken, that's another 117 episodes to add to the U.S. G1 series.
Crisfromcal 1 year ago
yup thats the way it shoud have ended with no headmasters...
smoluk1 1 year ago
but that IS how it ended
leonicle 1 year ago
My ONLY complaint about that scene (which was awesome) is how short that last shot was. If I'd had my way, they would have held it for at least a few more seconds. Y'know, show them ride off into the sunset and whatnot. Gotta get those commercials in though, I guess.
happyspandex 1 year ago
Also one thing just occured to me. In the final scene, aren't they inside Metroplex/Autobot City (because isn't that where Optimus unleashed the Matrix)? If so, just where are they rolling out to?
StarFighters76 1 year ago
Out for a drive I guess.
DecepticonSpike 1 year ago
@StarFighters76 Because it's more dramatic lol
PuppetMaster411 1 year ago
@StarFighters76 ...Autobots are probably alot like Army privates....they don't need to know where they are going.....just follow Prime.
Straphis2001 1 year ago
As far as I'm concerned, this IS where G1 ended. Especially since Rebirth was shown so sporadically.

@Yourwolf1976 Chris Latta dead? What a shame. Mad props to that man for producing the greatest cartoon voice ever, Cobra Commander... ...and Starscream as well.
Hawkgold 1 year ago
I heard a while back they were releasing the Headmasters series ondvd in the U.S. With the original G1 actors dubbed into it. Anyone else hear about that?
Yourwolf1976 2 years ago
Considering some of them are dead, I wouldn't put too much faith in that.
DarthBombshell 2 years ago
Actually in one dub, he calls himself a "Ninja CONSULTANT"
I mean, what does that job entail? Doing seminars on the correct way to field an army of ninjas? Telling the decepticons that they need to restrategise their ninja budget? Ninja human resource work?
Beelzeboogie 2 years ago
Why is Optimus gray ? I don't remember . It's been years since I've seen this.
PsycotiKSmileZ 2 years ago
This is from the final episode of season 3 transformers from a 2-part story, The return of optimus prime. It's available to watch on youtube if you want (Uploaded in 4 smaller parts) by a different user I think. That will explain the colour difference, without spoiling the story for those who haven't seen it.
Denjin975 2 years ago
He was covered in a special alloy by the humans so he wouldn't catch that rage virus that made everyone fight each other regardless of which side they were on. He had to wear it so he could take the matrix off Rodimus.

Headmasters was garbage....Good voice acting would not have fixed it.
powermasterjazz 2 years ago 3
i agree with you this had the war finaly ending wich is great to see then they ruin it with the rebirth i liked that story but they sould have done rebirth as a one off to advitse the new toys still galvie rant at the end with zarrak is awsome
frements 2 years ago
I just wish they made a good dubbed version of it... With good voices, like almost sounding like the originals.
Someone should get alot of voice actors like Dr. Smoov to make a dubbed version. I just want to see more adventures that has that same feeling... And the voices are part of this feeling.... But It will never happen.... =-(
But also.... I think the Rebirth episode is one of the best Season 3 episodes because Optimus is back... =-D
MaxLindenProduction 2 years ago
That was a great moment.
GalvaWalken8 2 years ago
I think The Headmasters was waaaay better than the piece of shit American ending, provided that you can accept the differences in the way the characters were presented. WTF was up that BS heads become exosuits and green ppl?! Pure shit.
lightsanime 2 years ago
What Japan had was way better.
DecepticonSpike 2 years ago
Lightsanime, I would agree with that. There are some things I didn't like about Headmasters like the way Ultra Magnus ended up & Rodimus leaving on his journey, but overall it was way better than that Rebirth bullshit (as long as you stay away from the English dub)!
023rudy 2 years ago
I didn't think the series was that bad, but had it been dubbed with the original voice actors, it would have kept G1 going in the US, it was actually dubbed elsewhere and the American ending was skipped by many countries and accepted Headmasters instead.
lightsanime 2 years ago
I actually liked Headmasters overall. Other than a few things here & there (killing Optimus off again for example) it was a good show. It took a little while to get used to the Japanese perspective on Transformers & was 10X better than than three rushed episodes of b.s. the US got. Now if it could have been dubbed in English by the original cast rather than those no talent actors, that would be icing on the cake!
023rudy 2 years ago
My thoughts exactly, however I must add that overall, despite some of the things not likeable about it, it was still a lot better than Season 3 because Galvatron was more like himself in the movie, didn't have some ultra shit episodes like Nightmare planet or the King Arthur episode, what were they thinking?!
lightsanime 2 years ago
Gen 1 did have some really crazy episodes. Maybe due to the fact that they had to churn out so many in season 2. Guess they were just running out of ideas.
Another positive note on Headmasters is that I liked the continuing storyline over the american episodes that could be shown in any order (with some exceptions) from any given season & it wouldn't make a difference.
023rudy 2 years ago
Actually, the 1st season has a plot and needed a specific order to watch the episodes in, it was real anime, season 2 discarded the anime story-telling for single-story episodes, but Headmasters brought that back, which is why Season 1 and Headmasters are the best in terms of story, that's not to say season 2 wasn't good, it was great but a continuity would have made it better the way shows like Cowboy Bebop was made, each episode different, yet has a specific order.
lightsanime 2 years ago
Did optimus coem back to life in headmasters?
amartinez97 2 years ago
He was alive in the 3 episode American Headmasters saga. In the Japanese version which lasted 35 or 36 episodes (I forget right now) they kill him again in the 3rd episode. This series had it's good points & bad points. Optimus dying a year or so after his resurrection... not one of my favorite moments!
023rudy 2 years ago
@amartinez97 Yes, from what I understand Japan Headmasters scrapped the story from Rebirth, so basically it went from Return Of OP to "4 Warriors from the sky" (HM Season premiere).
Prime comes back for the first, what was it 4 to 6 episodes?
SPOILERS
But he dies, sacrificing himself to save Cybertron because Vector Sigma was about to go super postal (in a matter of speaking). If I remember, he merged with VS (just like Alpha Trion did), which is how he died.
StarFighters76 1 year ago
but thats how it ended if I remember correctly, at least it was the last g1 episode I saw
Totihno 2 years ago
There were 3 episodes set after this in the US cartoon.

thesix107 2 years ago
God, Hasbro. THIS is how G1 should have ended.
NewEraOutlaw 2 years ago 17
@NewEraOutlaw Yeah. I mean series 4 was only like three episodes and it seemed rushed a bit. I say that with something like this, You either continue with it Proberly or simply stop where its Perfect.
ozzycrocker87 1 year ago
@ozzycrocker87 Indeed. But I'd say it was very rushed to introduce new toys...er, I mean characters. Personally, I think if Hasbro had just done what Japan did and use the Headmasters series to contniue g1, it would have been for the best.
NewEraOutlaw 1 year ago
Look, how come Optimus is colored in one scene and the next hes all white and covered in the alloy? Shitty production, that's why TF should never be co-produced between different countries, in this case Japan and US.
If time was given for the Japanese animators it would have been so much better.
It would be cool if they remade G1, and I mean from scratch, redraw everything and put the sound effects back in and use the remaining living actors to add some new dialogue as it was rushed at times
lightsanime 2 years ago 22
@lightsanime Thats EXACTLY how I feel.
ozzycrocker87 1 year ago
@lightsanime actually have you seen any of the japanese g1 transformers episodes?....the animation WAS excatly the same and even for a while both the us/european show and the jap version were the same,ok as time went on the jap version went off the wall, for example both optimus prime AND rodimus prime in the same scenes together fighting side by side but initally they were the very same tv show
damo9811 6 months ago
Respond to this video... i have to disagree with you when you say the japanese animators would have done a better job,if any of the newer series from japan, even in their "imported versions",ie dubbed into english are anything to go by it mite have been cgi such as energon, cybertron etc and they look shite, and the story lines are rubbish too as well as some of the most irritating characters ever to turn up in transformers
damo9811 6 months ago
@lightsanime you idiot theres a reason hes white and japanese animators would have turned it into a piece of crap.
Shadowkrai96 5 months ago
Another problem with season 3 is that they took TF as a joke many times. Also, they really messed up Grimlock's character, so many animation errors, Season 1 &2 had less combined but that was normal for shows in those days, since it was co-produced between Japan and the US, it was rushed and it happened a 2nd time with the Unicron Trilogy. And finally, Frank Welker's Galvatron was shit, Leonard Nemoy's was much more menacing and more engaging, this one's just a whiny little chicken shit bitch.
lightsanime 2 years ago
I don't think it should have ended there, I just thing Optimus Prime's return should have been more epic than THAT. Season 4 was so unbelievably crap that I HAVE to ignore it and go with the Japanese continuity as it was so much better and despite Prime dying AGAIN they allowed more originality with Masterforce and Victory and gave us really cool Transformers like Star Saber.
lightsanime 2 years ago
yeah what the heck rebirth was so out of place. it did have a cool intro tho..

These storyboards must have been sequenced out of order...Prime loses his paintjob in the crane shot.
And before a million fanbois send me emails, I realize he didn't "lose" the paintjob and that it's the alloy that stops the spores...blah blah omfgnerdalert blah :P
flugel76 2 years ago
Nah, I'm not gonna say anything like that, your right certain parts were generally flipped around alot, but I would also put it down to the artists forgetting to paint him the right colour, that was quite common durin the show, one big example were the Decepticon Seekers.
TheSiyk 2 years ago
Definately. It makes more sense.
It fits
Laveticus 3 years ago
The part about the Matrix makes sense. IIRC In Beast Wars, the Matrix was just a legend, and they didn't know if it was real or not.
Plus I always had the feeling the writers of BW ignored "season 4".
DecepticonSpike 3 years ago
they found it in prim'es chest on the ARC remember?
ff8123 3 years ago
That was just an artist error by Mainframe.
Mainfare was given a copy of TF:the movie as a G1 reference for the Autobots and Decepticons on the Ark
. If you listen to the commentary on the DVDs for "the Agenda" it clearly states this.
MM33178 2 years ago

Apparently Rebirth (season 4) was orginally supposed to be about 12 episodes (or possibly a few less) but for whatever reason (i've since forgotten the reason) they had to cram the storyline of 12 episodes (or so) into 6 episodes, then that into 3.
zodd95 3 years ago

I agree, this would have been a very good ending to the series.
As for Rebirth... wish they'd continued, even if I didn't find the Headmasters concept very appealing(kinda cheapened the TFs, being only able to do really well with human pilots).
The Season 4 intro looked quite promising.

hey rhdj98 he didnt want peace galvatron has much respect for prime and if u watch both parts of return of optimus prime u would see y and as for the ending of gi its a good ending but the rebirth of cybertron would not be told they did it in the 4th season only 3 eps but they did it it was kinda corny but they had a deadline at sunbow when they made the last eps so all of u need your transformers knowledge prime out

MaxPrime1 4 years ago
LOL that makes sense, in a fucked up way :)
DecepticonSpike 4 years ago
Galvatron doesn't make peace the war just continues ''tomorrow'' (no war today) Ribith was a better ending, the Decepticons are lost in space, and a second golden age begins on Cybertron, the story that began in ep 1 had its good ending. but if Hasbro wasn't so cheap season 4 would have been longer, season 5 made up of new episodes and G2 would have been a new series...
henkman00 4 years ago
Rebirth was horrid. Hasbro simply did not translate the remainder of the episodes. They felt the series had run its course here in the US.
vh2k 3 years ago
explane season 5 then.
henkman00 3 years ago
There wasn't one. Not of G1, not in the US, and not in English.
vh2k 3 years ago
yep there was.
Season 5 was made in 1988. it had old season 1-3 episodes plus the movie with different intro's Bumpers and outro's. Powermaster Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and a human boy talk the episodes together. in live action scenes. Hasbro still wanted to make the show, BUT as cheap as possible! that is why G1 ended, butget, believe me s5 was a surprise too me to!
henkman00 3 years ago
I remember what you're talking about, you can't count that.
vh2k 3 years ago
yes we must. Hasbro was just cheap. a second attempt too make a show cheap became G2. you have too accept s5 too understand why G1 ended.
henkman00 3 years ago
You do realize that by reusing old episodes, and putting new front ends and outros on them, it DOESN'T make it a new season, right?
When the G2 toyline came out, they did the same thing. They showed the original episodes with CGI segment transistions in place of the original spinning Autobot/Decepticon icons, that wasn't a "new season" either.
Draknfyre 3 years ago
say that to Hasbro.
henkman00 3 years ago
A "new season" is exactly that, NEW episodes. You don't call slight reworkings of old episodes a "new" season. Hasbro released the G2 line and to coincide with it, they aired the G2 cartoon which was nothing more than the original episodes with extra scene transitions. It had absolutely nothing new passed that. Therefore, it wasn't a "new sseason", reguardless of new toys coming out or not.
Draknfyre 3 years ago
hay i agree. but for Hasbro it was a new season and G2 a new series! they should have been new episodes but because Hasbro was cheap we got what we got.
henkman00 3 years ago
hay i agree. but for Hasbro it was a new season and G2 a new series! they should have been new episodes but because Hasbro was cheap we got what we got.
henkman00 3 years ago
Well, G2 was essentially a re-release of loads of G1 toys, so it wasn't out-of-place to simply repackage G1 episodes as a new G2 cartoon.
SeolfurDragyn 3 years ago
