The GAA could easily ensure that "fans" on the pitch would not happen again. Simply make it a criminal offence to trespass on the field of play at any time. This is what is done in the USA - you go on the field - and you go to jail. That said I would not expect anymoe more for inbred Louth scum !!

The players met and decided not to grant a replay. they are worse than the ref, who made a wild, unthinkable call. They decided they were happy with the win and to hell with how they got it. I grew up in the meath glory days, and even now I remember and respect o rourke, gillick, coyle, lyons, o connell, men who could play, not just with skill, they were a hard team that took no shit from anyone. The GAA are the big joke here. No consistancy with rules, every weekend we see players being booked for certain fouls, the following week the same fouls can be commited and nothing happens. They just make it up as they go along. I think Louth were robbed but they should of wrapped it up long before the final whistle.

If they can suspend a player after viewing footage after a game they can replay a game after viewing a goal that was illegal. What about the ref been suspended. I can understand him making a mistake but running down to the umpire and telling him to raise his flag to signal the goal was arrogance and stupidy. Why didn't he listening to what the umpire had to say since the ref obviously didn't see the player throwing the ball over the line.
I'm annoyed at people saying the Gardaí should have done more, there was 2 of them and about 6 fans that abused the ref, Gards are human too, they aren't a bunch of walking brick walls...this all boils down to the GAA, it's their fault for not letting the referee consult the video playback, why do they even play it back? just to fuel the anger of fans? If they play it back at all they should allow the ref the 2 seconds to reconsider his decision.

The Louth fans were a disgrace throughout the match with their constant booing everytime Meath got a free.If Judge hadn't got himself (stupidly) sent off and Rooney hadn't kicked the ball away twice in added time the whistle would have gone for full time and there would have been no famous Meath comeback.
There is too much sentimental 50yr bullshit,they didn't know how to close out the game and suffered as a result-TOUGH.

I understand that the Meath footballers have vetoed a replay. I don't blame them , because they will loose their championship medals, the cowards. They are not imbued with the higher mores of sport or honour. Bad luck to them and their county now and until after the last remaining player departs this world, may they have no luck, and win no more!!

move on Louth, if meath want that victory by cheating let them have it. Do you not remember how they knelt on Peter Canavans head in the 90's. Louth are the real Leinster champions. Meath flopped in the last 2 All Ireland semi finals so every body will have a great laugh when it happens again. Keep going Louth, win the All Ireland. Always remember you cant cure thickness. Louth should be barred fron future championships due to the beavaiour of their sipporters. No other country or organisation in the world would not discipline a team whose supporters are thugs. Lets hope they are prosecuted afterwards

I know that people were angry, I know that people hold great pride in the game, but this incident is disgraceful and appalling! Yes the referee made a mistake, but he does not deserve to be attacked by a crowd of ignorant spectators! Every rule has been carefully followed- the referee's decision is final! The GAA needs to embrace modern technology to try and hold some respect to gaelic football!

take a look at what is going to GAA games these days and how wasted they are,, decisions aside the only difference with this is that RTE caught it on video, it goes on between fans after every Intercounty game...completely covered up always, if it was an FAI game we'd never hear the end of it.

If they can suspend a player after viewing footage after a game they can replay a game after viewing a goal that was illegal. What about the ref been suspended. I can understand him making a mistake but running down to the umpire and telling him to raise his flag to signal the goal was arrogance and stupidy. Why didn't he listening to what the umpire had to say since the ref obviously didn't see the player throwing the ball over the line.

I'm annoyed at people saying the Gardaí should have done more, there was 2 of them and about 6 fans that abused the ref, Gards are human too, they aren't a bunch of walking brick walls...this all boils down to the GAA, it's their fault for not letting the referee consult the video playback, why do they even play it back? just to fuel the anger of fans? If they play it back at all they should allow the ref the 2 seconds to reconsider his decision.

The referee was totally to blame he made loads os mistakes during the game. Louth were the better team on the day but Meath didnt deserve to lose it either!
I was sitting in the cusack stand yesterday and i saw people pegging bottles down at officials and the referee as he made his wAy out..
You cant please everyone and those people should be ashamed of themselves..

No matter what your stance on the ref's decisions, that sort of violence is disgusting and an outrage. The people that were involved and that support those actions are not true sportsmen. It shows a lack of intelligence and a lack of morality. I would like all the ignorant louts that think this is acceptable over a game to picture their father, or son being that ref as they watch this.
Any recourse they could have had is now moot over these idiot "fans".
