We crossed the english Channel in a heavy storm and the ship [The Falaise] had all it's furniture bolted down, and the chairs were on chains-no furniture flew around, but as the channel is often rough, the ships that sail it, tend to be prepared.

Was bloomin glad to get off though! [as a child, aged 8]

Poor seamanship there. That equipment/furnishings should of been secured. If that forklift had broken open those doors it could of sunk the boat.

they should be bent over a table and bummed for not fastening everything down like that cupboard. Again to much faith in the stability system, no thought to "if it failed in a storm" what would happen to unsecured heavy fittings like storage cupboards

This will be evidence in court cases stemming from injured passengers. None of the furnishings are 'missile secured'...ie bolted to bulkheads or floors. Can be fatal at sea.

@abbesieyes I concur, there is no reason not to have secured this stuff... heavy metal shouldn't be allowed to just set loose on a moving vehicle, much less a huge vehicle prone to swaying side to side...

i have been on the pacific sun 2007 nice boat.when crusing on another boat royal carib 2009 out of new zealand the boat we were on went right over a few times very scary.we were going into huge wave's all boats do that
