It's a new application of Magnus effect.Pretty ingenious.According to the equation
that F =S (W cross V),it's critical to find a material that has high air resistance coefficent.Last,I am pretty curious about the magnitude of the lift.Could you show me the magnitude.Thanks.
taiwnaeaa, it produced about 1.25N of lift with the cylinders spinning at approx. 8000RPM and the entire rotor spinning at 200RPM. But it could produce more than this if these speeds were increased. However, the ratio of these speeds must be chosen such that at every chordwise position along the cylinders the ratio of the tangential speed of the cylinder surface is around 2.5 times greater than the oncoming flow velocity. This is required to suppress vortex shedding behind the cylinders.
shinnext, for the test cases I tried it produced about 1.25N of lift at most. This wouldn't have been enough to achieve takeoff, however, it wasn't intended to actually takeoff anyhow. Please message me if you have any more questions.
N8Projects Thanks for the reply. I just have another quick question. Can you tell me the actual size (length and diameter) of your test model? and probably the type of motor you've used please?
how much power was it at 1.25n

@N8Projects Did you mean 200 RPM or 2000RPM?

Was the rotating cylinders able to create enough of lift for the take off?? Is there a possible way that I can contact you for more information??
