The Atlantic takes a lot of Easterners, she gives life and she takes it. Some of the finest Canadians harbour in N & L. Very sad. Godspeed to the families.
Its sad that they were all wearing those special suits equipped with Personal Locator Beacons which were supposed to go off as soon as they hit water and yet nothign!! Thats says something about those suits and that company which made them - helly hansen
I went by the report there and Glen Carter said it was flight 941, then I just happened to go onto wikipedia and it was flight 91, but if you notice the link it says flight 911.
As soon as I figures out the right number, I will update the page.
I hope that they find more.. thats sad those helicopters are safe.. wonder what the guy who is safe if he lives can give info. Peace to all families very Sad news. May your Prayers bbe with you from me as well Take care. =(.
GPS identifiers in the suits are undetectable 5 ft under water... I think safety should be a priority- and that technologie clearly isnt good enough. 5 ft? In the atlantic? yes b'y - a wave will send you under that far out there.

My Thoughts and Payers go to the Families of the missin by's of the copter crash, I know what it is like to lose someone close to you, I lost my best friend who was practley me brother - Tyler Burton. St.John's Newfoundland and Labadour
2 weeks ago the CCG was issuing a "Pan Pan" for a beacon going off in a certain position. The position was reported by commercial jets flying overhead of the Mizzen Field where the Henry Goodrich is drilling. The beacon they were picking up was on 121.5khz. Come to find out is was not a EPIRB but a PLB beacon they were picking up.
At 121.5 khz, the signal of one of these PLBs is considered to be VLF and they can pass though water better than VHF signals. I do have to agree for there to be no signals picked up, is odd.
I thought about that myself but I wasn't sure what frequencies these beacons transmitted at. Thanks!
maybe they're too deep for the signal to be picked up? They should install ballistic parachutes above the rotor to save chopper and passengers in such an emergency. A helicopter without an engine has a hard time landing unlike a plane .
There is a system that when triggered instantly sheds its blades and then ejections seats for the pilots. Then what is needed are big ballistic parachutes for the chopper all within a few seconds. To the victims R.I.P.
The guys working on the rigs wear these PLB beacons (personal locator beacon) when they work over the side or under the rig so if they fall in the water a signal is sent off and proper personnel is alerted. You can't get on a flight without wearing on of these beacons.
The beacon from the Henry Goodrich was being accidentally sent off, however, passenger flights flying over at 500 mph and at 35000 feet were picking up the beacon.
Don't you think that all the boats, heli's, aircraft's flying directly overhead would pick them up if the beacons were at the surface? Why wouldn't a single beacon from 16 be received?
Why wouldn't this info be shared? My deepest sympathy's goes out to the family's who have lost their loved ones. They are all strapped in the chopper, and I don't know why its taking so long for someone to send the Atlantic Osprey to recover the helicopter as they did for the CCG helicopter that ditched in Marystown a couple years ago.
It's disrespectful and ignorant to release the name of any victim (known or suspected) without permission of the family. Even the media does not do this. brendandguy5 you need to apologize and watch yourself. I don't care if you knew her or not, those of us who do know her would never do that. Have some respect for the families you attention-seeker.
You know what there's something wrong with this picture. 16 F-in people dont disappear, I know this, without even adding in the survival suits that "DO WORK" to the calculation. Not even in the ocean do 16 people disappear. Something is very wrong with this picture. Did you guys know the JTF is heading the whole media that's why there isn't much to say. The Joint Task Force in case your wondering. Think about the world, then think about this again?
I think that they intentionally mis wired the helicopter for the assination to 2 Exxon men on board. Why they took the survivor to the hospital instead of the Heath Center ??? Weird huh

You should of seen some of the awful comments that were made over the past few days from 2 or 3 youtubeers. Just downright hateful. I deleted them and reported them to youtube admim.
What people outside of Newfoundland might understand that it might be 16 people from where who died that were from this province, but if you crunched the number, it would be the same as if 10,000 people in the United States were lost or 3 x the number that were lost in 9/11.
Actually one of the dead was from Nova Scotia, but that's irrelivant, it's still tragic. PS: reporting those idiots to Youtube was a good thing, but sadly, very rarely does anything get done, because most of them are multiple account trolls

Well something like this is so devastating to an area such as Newfoundland. Although many of us don't know the actual 18 who were on board, there is a great chance we know their families, relatives or friends. For a population of just over 500,000 people, there is probably 3 or 4 degrees of seperation between everyone here.
My GF got me one of those video capture gizmos that i have hooked into the tv's a/v outs and that's allot easier and quicker than burning the report on the dvd and then having to extract it from the dvd on to the pc. So I should have something for you tomorrow around 12:30 NL time. And I also unblocked your comment. Someone marked it as spam. Idiots. Anyway keep checking back and I'll have something for you tomorrow. Take care.
