  • EXCELENTE SONIDO,,, un tema precioso de fingerpicking, la guild es algun modelo especial ........?

  • very nice playing!... I like very much this Guild sound too!...

    Cheers,

    luca

  • Very pretty. I've got a D-50 I bought new in '83. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to do my best to learn this tune. If you name it, let me know and I'll be happy to give you credit when I play it out. :-)

  • Aaah, fantastic! Beautiful sound & a very pretty tune indeed! Thanks for sharing.

Getting into the Guild GAD conversation, I have the Guild GAD 50, as well as two Martins, the D15 & D18. I was shocked at how good & how well made the GAD was. I bought it online for $800.00 as a hack guitar, but now find I'm playing it more often than the others. It definitely equals the D15 for sound & is remarkably playable. Oh, & the finish is remarkable! ♪

  • @Gingerjake2 - I very much appreciate my USA Guild D50, but my China made jumbo is no slouch. For recording I generally use the GAD mahogany jumbo. It produces less bass than the D50 but is well balanced and crisp.

  • @ldolamore My dream is to own a vintage (1969) Guild F212, but I have to wait til I find one...& then find the money to buy it. Don't ya hate details? =D

That is a beautiful sounding instrument you have tho', for sure. Thanks for sharing with us. ♫

  • That sounded very good, very well balanced..What do you think of the Guild that was made in 2007 by tacoma washington factory with the bolt on neck, you think its a crappy guitar ? Ive bought one and it was $600 quite pricey and it was a second

  • Huh? I consider my Tacoma Guild D50 as a very nice guitar, not at all crappy. I'm 99.99% certain the neck is traditional glued in dovetail joint, not bolt on neck. If you bought one for $600 that is a fine deal.

  • nice fingerstyle playing. Let me throw in my opinion I just finished playing a guild GAD50 and I own a 1987 guild D40. To me there is no comparison the gad series does not have the tone of the american guild the gad series sounds tinny.

  • I also own a GAD series Guild guitar, although a mahogany jumbo that has a well rounded tone. It is brighter than the D50 but that's to be expected from mahogany as opposed to the rosewood D50. Still, my GAD Jumbo sounds pretty good, but not as good as my D50. I'm curious about the D50s now made in Conneticut (mine is Tacoma, WA). Seem to have the same specs other than the tuning keys.

  • This D50 sings so nicely.

    Very beautiful playing.

    Thanks Sir.

  • Pretty tune. Great playing.

  • nice tune mate,im thinking of buying this guitar too

  • Thanks. The longer I own the D50 the better it sounds. It started out very good when new but now that I've had it nearly two years the tone has matured fantastically. Great low end, crisp highs, and the Adirondack top provides seemingly never ending headroom. Yes, it's a fine guitar.

  • ahh I C...well it still takes talent if it were from practice or no practice it's more simplistic for you then me!

In that..... I did recognize the notes, but I don't know that I could just noodle something like that as of right now!

    still I commend you.

  • did you make this song?

It kind of sounds familiar or similar to something I've heard... in any case I love it! Finger picking all together kind of has a vibe to it.

    Great choice of notes!

  • I did make up the song, although since it's mostly basic chords I didn't need to use many brain cells on it! I'm glad you like it.

  • I believe it's simply a preference regarding which style guitar is best for fingerpicking. I like the versatility of a dreadnaught because it works with nearly any style.

  • A lot of people seem to use Guild dreadnaughts for fingerpicking, but I read 000s are better for fingerpicking. Is there some special property the Guild dreadnaughts have over other dreadnaughts when it comes to fingerpicking? (The one in this video sounds amazing when fingerpicked!)

  • I just use what I've got. Most of the guitars I've owned have been dreadnaughts that seem versatile, at least in my opinion. I've owned 000s and a few other body shapes and they were nice but I always end up back to a dreadnaught. Works for me, might or might not work for you.

  • I lóve this! Wish I was as good as you..

  • Great stuff!

  • the gad50 is just as good..

  • It's a matter of opinion. I've also played a GAD50 and found it nice but to my ears it didn't have the power and dynamics of the D50. I do also have a GAD series guitar - jumbo mahogany.

  • This is really very good stuff. . . how long you been fingerpicking?

  • Decades ... many of them. I should be able to play like Leo Kottke by now ...

  • It's an awesome guitar. I'm thinking about buying one. Or a Larrivee D-09

please help me to make my decision

    thanx

    nice playing btw

  • Thanks. Both the Guild D50 and Larrivee D-09 are great guitars. I prefer the sound of the Guild but can't say that would also be your preference, so I can't offer any guidance to you.

  • Real nice! Loved it. Nice guitar too. These guitars are pretty good. Good player too.

  • Very beautiful fingerstyle piece!... I like so much your guitar sound and your right hand!... *****

    Cheers,

    luca

  • Nice. I like it very much. The use of minors gives it a very solomn(sp?) feel. What picking style (predominately) are you using?

  • Thanks. I play by ear and off the cuff, and I don't know what to call the picking style. I'm just playing open chords and tossing in a bit of melody.

  • very pretty
