i played this game 4 first time a couple of months ago, and i was so impressed i couldnt believe this was from 90s... rpg hasnt involved much after this, im not criticizing rpg genre, im praising crystalis, if i had played this 15 years ago when i only had a nes id probably die of awesomeness

Oh boy I remember crystalis, this baby was so ahead of it's time it took a new advanced system for other games to catch up. :P I'd still go back to play that in pso era, maybe it's time to get it emulated now, afterall I do have the legally owned cartridge... somewhere. o.0

@armandm85 Actually I remember several times thinking I glitched up the game because I couldn't hurt any of the enemies. Turns out I just wasn't a high enough level. I literally started the game over 3 times before I figured that out. Now THAT'S awful.

Awesome game.SNK, take a break from releasing YET ANOTHER King of Fighters game and make a sequel(or just a NEW Crystalis) to this one. You could never have enough Zelda-esque action RPGs nowadays. In anything, SNK should revive this series, just like Culture Brain should revive Magic of Schenerazade, Ninja Boy and Flying Warriors.

There aren't many games like Crystalis. It's almost as if the designers gave a shit when they made it. The story is amazing, the music is divine. I don't care how much hi-def graphics, surround-sound, voice acting and moral choices you cram into your games nowadays. You can't top something like this. This is why we're gamers.

Trying to play this game again. I remember back when I played it on the NES. I got to the very end but I forgot to get something and you needed that item to kill the last boss.

Faxanadu is my favorite action-RPG, but just like Faxanadu, Crystalis has a great soundtrack. I've had that Wild Fields music (and the Overworld theme from Faxanadu) stuck in my head for the past 20 years!

I am starting to hoard a bunch of older games I played as a kid for some play-throughs, this being one of them. Secret of Evermore, Star Tropics, Magic of Scheherazade, Chrono Trigger, FFIX, Xenogears, and some others. Really awesome games, and I can't believe how old they are now. Even Xenogears and FFIX are 10-12 years old somehow. Chrono Trigger is pushing 15. Crystalis is TWENTY YEARS OLD! I just can't believe it.

I grew up on Crystalis. In fact my mom played this game all the time and used to not let us play it cause she would get very far and one of my sisters would erase it.

Fun times then. Definitely has one of the best soundtracks on the NES.

It was really challenging as a kid but i wanted to see it badly so I used a Game Genie cheat that gave you infinite MP. The music, the items and the progression into different zones made this game one of my favorite NES games. Being obsessed with swords when i was really young, the selection of different elemental swords was unbelievably cool to me. Oh and I still get that ocean theme in my head to this day..

Plus SNK wasn't really an adventure rpg company so it is pretty amazing how well they pulled this one out, even though it does have it's flaws.

God i love this game. Printed out an entire walk through for it after i beat it, just to make sure i had everything, got a turbo controller for it so i could spam the level 1 auto sword blasts, put SOO many hours into this game.

Shame that the GBC port didnt turn out as good as i hoped, mainly in lag and butchering this woderful music, at least the cart i got.

This is one of my five top NES games of all time. Great gameplay, great graphics (for the time), and, of course, great music. I don't think I finished it until I replayed it on an emulator. Got stuck at some point while playing on the NES and never got back to it.

And sometimes, you just end up downloading random japanese games just to see what it's all about. God Slayer was one of those games for me! I was really into it, and got kind of far in it, although it was all in Japanese..
