I am one of the people that received his meditation techniques called "Knowledge"

back in 1973 and I can tell you personally, that the peace he is talking about is what you realize and experience through the meditation. You find peace within yourself and not in Maharaji. What he is talking about really is not fake. Like all things though, there are those who have misrepresented this knowledge. It is not a religion.
