Yeah, screw my bank. I go with capital one, and i live from paycheck to paycheck...even though I deposit my money that i earned to live on friday it doesn't come in use until the following tuesday. If I deposit CASH I think it should be available immediately. One time they TOLD me the cash went through, so i made my daily purchases, to find out they STACKED charges on me...came up to over 200 bucks because plus my purchases. Took a majority of my paycheck out cuz of their fuck up
i dont understand. the bank pretty much allowed you to make your purchases. it was like a loan. and no loan is free. dont spend money you dont have and you wont get charged.
I hate BOA got charged with 5 overdraft fees when I had enough to cover 4 & my direct deposit check was going in the same night wtf! he couldn't even explain to me why I was getting charged with all of them if I had enough to cover most of them. I switched to Wachovia, right now I'm sitting here waiting for them to approve a payment I made 4 days ago from my hubbys acct for my light bill and it's on pending! for no reason I'm afraid to leave my house cuz I think its gonna get disconnected
Go to FaceBankBook, com Together we can end these practices it is a social network for people like us and make sure to tell as many people as you can so we can stop this
Watch this music video from ZUU, inspired by a band member who went into debt due to big bank overdraft fees, cash advance fees..you name it. it's called "Water" - tag line - Drowned to Debt by BoA - go to youtube and type in ZUU, Everywhere, Water, and watch the "Water" video
Yes, of course everyone who has a different opinion than you is wrong and should be deleted. We are all dumb because we disagree. If there are too many dumb people out here for things to work effectively, then I guess there would've been no point in making the video at all.
And not all poor people keep a super low balance. Some know how to budget their money and set a little aside for mistakes or emergencies.
@ShadoeLandman No, comments that are obviously paid for by BoA get deleted. I will leave this up for example. You all use the same talking point rhetoric. I'm surprised you didn't write "keep a register" or some other ridiculously antiquated notion about "balancing a checkbook." So how much do you get paid per comment? Or are you just another corporate slave who does this astroturfing PR on your own dime?
My nephew was stationed in Iraq. On his base was a BoA ATM. My father deposited a check for him here in the U.S. He checked his balance before using the card, but as soon as he did the debit, Bank of America undeposited his check, waited a few days, and then reinstated the deposit, all so they could rob the account of an American serviceman fighting overseas.
banks of england and scotland steal from us 2 with out any help to there lil people either ... and whats worse is our goverment lets them altest ur president had the guts to put a cap on bonuses all ours could do was put a tax on it .... and they tried to tell us its better then what obama has done!!!! these people seriously dont live in reality

I would steal from you, I would lick your cunt if you caught me. Just joking.. I suggest you open a account at a Dutch bank.. like Rabobank. They don't need any help from governments and don't do stupid things.
i have been seriously considering changing banks....i have BofA and wescom credit union...i have been for the past few months thinking of which to stick with becuase i dont need two fucking banks....wescom is better for everything....savings, checkings, credit cards , loans....but they have not many locations ....BofA has A SHIT LOAD of locations......the only reason ive been with BofA though is cuz they are EVERYWHERE and they are the biggest bank....you got any advice on which to pick? hahaha
i tried to cash a check and i didnt have an account and they told me if i cash it they would hav to charge the account owner....i was pissed as fuked, then the manager had nerve to ask me if id like to open an account I said are you serious?? and laughed and walked out but...I WANTED TO GO BANKAI AND BUST GETSUGA TENSHOU ON HIS ASS.......
I got a bill from my credit card company that had a stated "Balance Due", which I paid immediately, on line. I then get a bill the following month, for $1.50. So I call them, and they gave me some BS about the balance billing whatever scam bullcrap. I told them they didn't know the definition of the word "balance", and that they should change their billing method or the way they state "balances". CC & insurance companies suck! No bail outs ever again. F AIG... they're never gonna pay back
I really feel that the pending payments are stacked in such a way that they post them separately so you get drafted individually many times instead of your account being charged one time. I went like 2 dollars into the red, fixed it that day, but they already had charged me for 3 other small purchases. By the time I got the OD notice they (B of A) charged me an extended overdraft fee. In short my account when my next automatic deposit hit was already almost in half. Theft, plain and simple
I recently over-drafted like $5, which bank of america took out of my savings account....THEN they gave my 3 $35 over draft fee's... THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH YOU FUCKING COCKSUCKERS, NOW I'LL HAVE JUST ENOUGH MONEY TO BE BROKE NEXT WEEK
yeah i have overdraft of my bnk acct. and pas due with credit cards. because this credit card thing is too slow so i recieve my bill after due date. so i have now late fees etc... bullshit banks....
I feel for you becuase I have made a few bank mistakes before. It is hard especially if you have a join account and one member of your family used the debit card and doesnt tell the other member. By my wife and I not communicating has cost us around 1,000 in fees over a 5 year period.
The bank is not stealing from you. If you use money that you don't have, you are going to be charged a fee. Don't overspend and you won't have fees. Why is that hard? You need to learn to be financially responsible and not blame your mistakes on a company just because it's a big corporation and you're a "little guy". You are still at fault.
So what is your justification for spending money you never deposited?
A checking account isn't a credit card. When you spend money you don't have in your account, you're asking for a loan. And the interest on that loan is $35 per item.
Keep a check register, don't put yourself in a negative balance, and you will NEVER get a fee. Banks don't take advantage of "artistic people," they take advantage of people who don't manage their money.
Unfortunately, the banks enact carefully designed systems to reap maximum overdraft fees from its lower income customers. The banks purposely hold back smaller transactions when the account balance is low in anticipation of the clearance of larger monthly expenses (rent, for example). They push the large payment through as a "courtesy" to the customer. This overdraws the account. Then, the queue of smaller transactions that have taken days to clear all accrue a $30 overdraft fee. Bing!
You are obviously an idiot. You probably work for this financial institution and have no idea what it is like to have a $20 overdraft, be charged 8 overdraft fees and then be evicted from you home because the bank has stolen money from you and you cannot pay your rent... Thank assholes...
the same people who support capitalism and decry other "isms" are the few elites who are benefiting from the system of theft (Michael Moore is coming out with a new documentary soon). Didn't the US taxpayer BAIL OUT banks like B of A and now they, who should have collapsed, are taking it to the customer for small oversights? Also, consider a bank named B of A that is not US in origin, or a Fed. Reserve Bank that is not Federal. "Capitalism: a Love story" coming soon to theatres
I got my overdrafts back, after two weeks of calling, and going into the bank at my wits end completely frustrated with the situation. At the end they refunded me for a total of 9 overdrafts, $315, for -.45 when I had a direct deposit put in the next day...My landlord was kind enough to understand my situation graciously gave me extra time to pay since I am usually on time. I will never go through that again. their money to begin with...I closed that account immediately...
When they tried to screw me with 200$ worth of over drafts when I was supposed to have protection, I threatened to immediately terminate all accounts with them and they took them all off. Banks will do it for you once, but usually not again. Now I know why people kept money in their matress'. :P
vagisil4eva, can you be any more self-absorbed? Students, artistic people...give me a break!
I've been a customer's of Bank of America for 10 years. Never have I incurred an overdraft fee that I didn't cause myself. Never have I been treated unfairly.
I am by no means rich, I live pretty much paycheck to paycheck and I have their most basic account and credit card.
You morons should just learn how to watch your spending.
Where would your money be safer at???? Walking down a dark alley lined with pickpockets, robbers and crackheads at 2 am in the morning... or placing it in an account?
bank of america increased my apr, from having a 8 apr ,It went up to 22 to 29, when I asked they said it was because of my credit report. I have been always on time with this credit card I have with them. I even pay five times more than the minimun not to pay so much interest. can some one help me?
same here one late payment on another card took my cards from 7 to 30 in just months i sayw all this comming years ago when that ols jew left the fed and defaulted on all my cards they still have that overdraft fee scam time for a new bank but the government will soon own the only banks left
The Center for Responsible Lending is also fighting to get these unreasonable fees to stop. They have a form letter on their website that you can send to the Federal Reserve Board asking them to pass rules requiring banks to have people opt-in to overdraft programs instead of automatically enrolling them without permission. The Center is also pushing for transaction warnings letting people know when they are going into the red. Just check out the Overdraft Loans issue section on their site.
Don't worry about it... Obama is going to set it up to where you get all that back. His stimulus plan is going to pay for all of those fees and so much more!!! I can't wait!
I never signed up for overdraft protection, but I will have to do paperwork to opt out of it. My bank signed me up. They credit and debit your accounts in a way that will cause you to be overdrawn, and they do it using a computer program, to handle your account so overdrafts happen. They either make it appear to be the customer's fault, or just normal happenstance. They don't care, as long as we can't quite figure it out or prove anything. Assholes, each and every one of them.
o.k., so why is it that white people, who are good looking, have such an attitude of entitlement? You could be considered lazy. Why feel that you should hold others responsible for you actions, to be catered to? Lack of planning on your part doesn't translate as an emergency on the part of your business partner(the bank). The bank makes customer service so personalized only because the business partner (the customer) demands to take everything so personally.
Fools, you know who you are but if youve had a lapse of memory, I remind you of who you are. You are the ones still worshiping at the altars of the Dem & Rep parties.the ones who still think theres a difference in the 2 parties, who think of Hannity, Linbaugh, Boortz, OReilly, etc. as truth-seekers. The ones who believe we still have Representative Government and vote for incumbents. youre the Fools.
Its sounds good however customers don't ask questions, nor do they read there agreement, the credit card is also subject to a higher cash advance rate. So the smart way to go about this is to use one credit card for ODP and another for normal transactions, this way you can allocate your payments to your transactions with the lower apr. And for the credit card with overdraft, pay it in full and the fees are less then you think, plus don't relay on the overdraft use it as a safty net
The facts are, that in the banking world everything is Black and White no room for excuses, people should read everything they are provided and ask questions so they can make educated decisions. The overdraft can be bad but if you bounce a check it hurts your credit plus you get a 35.00 fee in the checking, with the protection however there is a fee 3% fee 10$ cap.
Heres another one for you ...lol. I know I've got a lot of hostility toward that shithole bank. So yeah ...instead of them just making your debit card stop working when you dont have enough money in your account, they have a "matrix" amount they will ALLOW you to overdraft! Yet when you get the $35 fee its completely your fault! HA! BS!
Actually Mojo, thats not the problem. BoA deliberately holds checks and debits to force you to go into the red. And I do balance my checkbook, Mr. Rhodes Scholar. I checked my online banking statement every day, but BoA insists that Online Banking isnt accurate -- they rely on an internal register that customers do not have access to.
so yeah the bitch deleted my comment because i actually *gasp* OPPOSED what she had to say, and before she did, someone replyed to my comment about how rich I must be, even though I CLEARLY spelled out that I live paycheck to paycheck. if paycheck to paycheck is too rich now, then you're just flat-out lazy as fuck.
Maybe you should try to sound intelligent when posting an argument, maybe like taking all the like likes out of your like argument you know, so it like totally sounds more like legit and all.
What do you work for the bank. You are and idiot couggrad07. The government is bailing Wachovia out for their shady dealings, do they really need to steal from their customers. People like you are the problem with this country.
I closed by bank account with them when I calculated that in a few months they had charged $600 in fees. That's exactly what I told the woman who processed the closing of my account, should have seen her face.
I haven't had that problem with any other bank, better yet, use a credit union.
They dont steal, people dont read their contract and dont take responsibility for their actions. Any bank will do this, customers need to read their term and conditions and understand credit before barrowing it. overdraft was explined to you before you sighned up for it, if you didnt pay attention, or if you didnt understand you could have asked questions.
hollilyn, the Bank of America strategy is different. It is nothing they disclose in their contract. It happened to me a few years ago, I wrote and article on it as well.
Screw BOA. The only way I could avoid BOA is to use a credit card as a free loader. Pay all of you bills with a cc , leave all of your money in the bank and only use it to pay the card in full before the dues date. Never write checks or use a debit card
Hey, yeah, that's really good advice. I actually started doing that recently. I got the Chase Freedom card and use that for everything. I pay the balance in full from my new Commerce (soon to be TD Bank) account. Fuck BOA!
You should also check out either Emigrant Direct or HSBC for online savings accounts, They have the highest interest you can earn for a savings account. There's an added bonus if you keep doing it as a freeloader . If you use MS money or Quicken you can see where you're money goes down to the Penney with easy downloads
Every payday I get an overdraft fee, because BofA will report a postive balance at the ATM, I will make a withdrawal, then BofA's computer system will remove the balance while moving it from availible balance to ledger balance. This causes an overdraft fee to apper because for five minutes I have negative balance. This has happened five times, they refuse to give me back my freaking money. Why in the hell is it 30 bucks for each transaction. Its not 30 bucks worth of problems for them.
The government needs to reel in these jerks. I had once 400 dollars worth of fees for $50 in tranactions. Because a stupid car wash charged me five times. I believe there needs to be a $30 cap per day! Also I am tired of them making excuses every time thier stupid computer screws up. I also am tired of their utter comtemp for customers especially the military. I have had to restrain myself from trying to pucnh out a teller for a wiseass comment about "you people!"
Well for every dollar we deposit, they can lend 10 times the amount we deposit. So while they use our money to make loans and make money off the money we deposit. They still have the ballz to charge all these stupid Fees they sorta made up along the way to put more green in their pocket.
the big corporations always will gonna piss on our money & liberties because this is their job not in abstract,is nothing more then a trap is like using your wallet withouth looking inside no mather how careful you are the incident will gonna happen the big problem on my acounts is that my girlfriend use my acount too and the trakings run out of control sometimes ,the pusyfied overdown fees are there to show you that they can fuck with you anytime they want, nice shirt btw
I've been a banker for 30 years but not for Bank of America. B of A apparently has "courtesy pay". This is a service whereby banks will pay your transactions up to a limit ($300 to $500) so that you may avoid embarrassment from a rejected debit transaction but they will charge a fee. Get yourself a copy of MS-Money, use it at least weekly to record ALL of your spending and reconcile to online banking at least weekly. The result will be that you will know what money you have available.
This is generally good advice. I think the problem today is that the younger generation, my peers, view their debit card as more of a credit card, rather than as an electronic checkbook that carries the same waiting periods.
If you can't balance your freakin' checkbook, and are spending money you don't have -- you pay fees. It sucks, sure... but so does not taking personal responsiblity for your actions.
Again, its not an issue of balancing ones checkbook. If you're actually interested (which I doubt at this point) I can forward you articles from people who have experienced the same shit. It's not so much a matter of being a financial moron as it just plain bullshit corporate fraud. Are you a BoA employee or something? If so, I'll CC you on the next interoffice memorandum.
Yeah, screw my bank. I go with capital one, and i live from paycheck to paycheck...even though I deposit my money that i earned to live on friday it doesn't come in use until the following tuesday.

Assholes, each and every one of them.
grooovy7 3 years ago
o.k., so why is it that white people, who are good looking, have such an attitude of entitlement?

And for the credit card with overdraft, pay it in full and the fees are less then you think, plus don't relay on the overdraft use it as a safty net

good advice
vagisil4eva 3 years ago
The facts are, that in the banking world everything is Black and White no room for excuses, people should read everything they are provided and ask questions so they can make educated decisions. The overdraft can be bad but if you bounce a check it hurts your credit plus you get a 35.00 fee in the checking, with the protection however there is a fee 3% fee 10$ cap.
hollilyn 3 years ago
Heres another one for you ...lol. I know I've got a lot of hostility toward that shithole bank. So yeah ...instead of them just making your debit card stop working when you dont have enough money in your account, they have a "matrix" amount they will ALLOW you to overdraft! Yet when you get the $35 fee its completely your fault! HA! BS!

What banks do with your deposits
You deposit $10,000 into your account
The bank is only required to keep on hand a percentage, say 10%
So the bank holds on to $1000
They bank loans out the remaining $9000
The borrower deposits $9000 into their account
The bank holds on to $900 and then loans out the remaining $8100
repeat
$90,000 dollars can be created on top of the original $10,000

balance your fucking budget and you wont over draw
mojo221122 3 years ago

I haven't had that problem with any other bank, better yet, use a credit union.
gingeralexis 3 years ago
They dont steal, people dont read their contract and dont take responsibility for their actions. Any bank will do this, customers need to read their term and conditions and understand credit before barrowing it. overdraft was explined to you before you sighned up for it, if you didnt pay attention, or if you didnt understand you could have asked questions.
hollilyn 3 years ago
hollilyn, the Bank of America strategy is different. It is nothing they disclose in their contract. It happened to me a few years ago, I wrote and article on it as well.
gingeralexis 3 years ago
I just fell victim to this, desperate move Bank of America pulled on me.
I think we have to spread the word big time!

hewlee 3 years ago
Screw BOA. The only way I could avoid BOA is to use a credit card as a free loader. Pay all of you bills with a cc , leave all of your money in the bank and only use it to pay the card in full before the dues date. Never write checks or use a debit card
blkmale160 3 years ago
Hey, yeah, that's really good advice. I actually started doing that recently. I got the Chase Freedom card and use that for everything. I pay the balance in full from my new Commerce (soon to be TD Bank) account. Fuck BOA!
vagisil4eva 3 years ago
You should also check out either Emigrant Direct or HSBC for online savings accounts, They have the highest interest you can earn for a savings account. There's an added bonus if you keep doing it as a freeloader . If you use MS money or Quicken you can see where you're money goes down to the Penney with easy downloads
blkmale160 3 years ago
Every payday I get an overdraft fee, because BofA will report a postive balance at the ATM, I will make a withdrawal, then BofA's computer system will remove the balance while moving it from availible balance to ledger balance. This causes an overdraft fee to apper because for five minutes I have negative balance. This has happened five times, they refuse to give me back my freaking money. Why in the hell is it 30 bucks for each transaction. Its not 30 bucks worth of problems for them.
desertsoldier22 3 years ago
The government needs to reel in these jerks. I had once 400 dollars worth of fees for $50 in tranactions. Because a stupid car wash charged me five times. I believe there needs to be a $30 cap per day! Also I am tired of them making excuses every time thier stupid computer screws up. I also am tired of their utter comtemp for customers especially the military. I have had to restrain myself from trying to pucnh out a teller for a wiseass comment about "you people!"
desertsoldier22 3 years ago
It could just be poor programming on the ATM or on BOA systems.
Gungrave20 3 years ago
We deposit, then lend our money.. make money then charge us more fees to make more money for them.
sumilea 3 years ago
Well for every dollar we deposit, they can lend 10 times the amount we deposit. So while they use our money to make loans and make money off the money we deposit. They still have the ballz to charge all these stupid Fees they sorta made up along the way to put more green in their pocket.
sumilea 3 years ago
the big corporations always will gonna piss on our money & liberties because this is their job not in abstract,is nothing more then a trap is like using your wallet withouth looking inside no mather how careful you are the incident will gonna happen the big problem on my acounts is that my girlfriend use my acount too and the trakings run out of control sometimes ,the pusyfied overdown fees are there to show you that they can fuck with you anytime they want, nice shirt btw
paulsnake64 3 years ago
I've been a banker for 30 years but not for Bank of America. B of A apparently has "courtesy pay". This is a service whereby banks will pay your transactions up to a limit ($300 to $500) so that you may avoid embarrassment from a rejected debit transaction but they will charge a fee. Get yourself a copy of MS-Money, use it at least weekly to record ALL of your spending and reconcile to online banking at least weekly. The result will be that you will know what money you have available.
firstbanker501c 3 years ago
This is generally good advice. I think the problem today is that the younger generation, my peers, view their debit card as more of a credit card, rather than as an electronic checkbook that carries the same waiting periods.
vagisil4eva 3 years ago
If you can't balance your freakin' checkbook, and are spending money you don't have -- you pay fees. It sucks, sure... but so does not taking personal responsiblity for your actions.
Infreakingcredible 3 years ago
Again, its not an issue of balancing ones checkbook. If you're actually interested (which I doubt at this point) I can forward you articles from people who have experienced the same shit. It's not so much a matter of being a financial moron as it just plain bullshit corporate fraud. Are you a BoA employee or something? If so, I'll CC you on the next interoffice memorandum.
