Some guitarists are better live than the studio,some are better in the studio.You cant listen to lightning and master and tell me Kirk sucks.His solos fit in perfectly with the song.They aren't trying to sound like Van halen you know!

i believe that he suffers from a mercury poisoning, cause one can see all symptom's. He does eat a lot of fish becaues he is a vegaterian. I agree with you. Hetfield is a bloody amazing and underrated guitarist, and far more consistent than Kirk, who makes a LOT of mistakes live. Technically, Kirk is not the best guitarist, but many people love him because he's written some damn epic solos. If you genetically spliced Kirk Hammett and Marty Friedman, you'd get the greatest guitarist who's ever walked the earth.

i belive he had his best time from 1988-1993...after that he didnt play good anymore...today he sounds awful....but that is a poitn of practising.if you are older(and he is 48) you have to practiser more often to stay in tune.....the solo from seattle 1989 is so amazing...sadly that he isnt that good anymore

I can play a few a covers of metallica songs (Master of puppets, one , to live is to die, and the day that never comes) these solos are all over the place, most of the time he does still follow the soloing scales, but many of his soloes have a more difficult sporatic section that he tends to go everywere on the frets... His solos arn't easy....
they have no idea dude. I can play most of the solos of the black album (which are the easiest, you`ll agree with me). Its true that Kirk tends to use the pentatonics waay more than other guitarist, but what the heck? Each solo is amazing and fits the song perfectly. Besides, and most important of all, the quality of a solo, the musicality isn`t determined by its difficulty. I just love Kirk, and it pisses me off when people talk shit about him. He plays in Metallica!!!

All these solos take alot of time and practice to master and they are not the least bit easy to get right. WOW people here saying that his solos are easy must be someone the dumbest fucking retards on earth..
I can play a few a covers of metallica songs (Master of puppets, one , to live is to die, and the day that never comes) these solos are all over the place, most of the time he does still follow the soloing scales, but many of his soloes have a more difficult sporatic section that he tends to go everywere on the frets... His solos arn't easy....

they have no idea dude. I can play most of the solos of the black album (which are the easiest, you`ll agree with me). Its true that Kirk tends to use the pentatonics waay more than other guitarist, but what the heck? Each solo is amazing and fits the song perfectly. Besides, and most important of all, the quality of a solo, the musicality isn`t determined by its difficulty. I just love Kirk, and it pisses me off when people talk shit about him. He plays in Metallica!!!

All these solos take alot of time and practice to master and they are not the least bit easy to get right. I love this guys pentatonic style, even to this day he's one of the main reason why I learned to shred. It''s a matter of taste,

if you knew anything about music theory or guitar in general then you would know kirk hammett is the epidemy of noob guitarists.
his guitar solos are the same licks in different orders pretty much, comprised of going up and down E minor pentatonic scales using the same 3 licks. even here he is doing random pulloffs on a pentatonic scale on the E,B, and G strings.
