  • Battlestar: Galactica just kicks ass. So does this song.

  • favorite remix of my favorite song

  • rattle tattle rum rum press button tum from here fire pain did come,no school today soinside here weplay, flashing light spy glass sight lets see past your head over ear you feel us hear children play in smoke and cordite ,its wekin children come to play its we, we bring back fire that burn our skin and so we go to next steel floor to play you must go and tell why we no school today, rattle tattle rum rum no school today so on hot steel floor we play dark to light we flash you see us as youpass

  • You hear that?

  • @Cooliogirlxoxo I always here it. This song has been in my head since I watched BSG. I'm a cylon.

  • This song's literally stuck in my frakkin' head since season 3 finale

  • the guitar solo is frakkin awesome. it's sampled? anyone knows??

  • Hendrix version best version

  • I really can't understand why they even call this song "All Along the Watchtower." It sounds NOTHING like the Jimmy Hendrix version. There is essentially no link whatsoever between the two songs. (The BSG song is way better imo.)

  • @burningsodium bob dylan*

  • @burningsodium They are the same track, if you listen very carefully. But i agree, it's an incredibly unique interpretation, and all the better for it!

  • @burningsodium

I think someone's already mentioned, but the original version of All Along the Watchtower was actually by Bob Dylan. This version follows his much more closely than it does the Jimi Hendrix version (although Dylan was famously a big fan of Hendrix's version, and did later adapt his somewhat in response, especially after Hendrix's tragic death).

I agree with you though, it is pretty much a complete re-imagining of the song.

  • @QEDinosaur

Although I do actually disagree as to which is best---the Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica) version is brilliant, but it would have to be so much more than brilliant to top Hendrix.

  • @QEDinosaur it is quite hard to choose one, not only because of their quality overall, but also because each one carries great cultural charge. It's interesting to think what the music has been through...

  • @QEDinosaur Agreed

  • 109 people are frakkin toasters.

  • 2:09 "I've been to Earth. And I'm going to take us there"

  • I love listening to this just to remind me of how amazing the season 3 finale episode was. Probably one of my favorite individual tv series episodes of all time.

  • @GoatBreeder0011 (Y) I bugged the fuck out, when Tigh said "Said the joker to the thief"

  • @MyTeenageyearzz what episode?

  • @MrCarlosBrazao When the 4 of the 5 all finally met and realized they were cylons.

  • @GoatBreeder0011 Thats my favourite episode too!

  • i get goose bups every time i hear this song

  • 109 people hit the dislike button by accident

  • I somehow remember the piano / organ to be more dominant..

  • There are many versions of this song, but does anyone know which artist made this version. By the way this song went great with the end of season three and Athena and Starbuck are my favorites=D

  • @shichigatsu13 bear mccreary

  • @disturb3dfan. I found it out yesterday,but thanks=D

  • @shichigatsu13 Yea, Athena and Starbuck were both kickass. Athena was that You don't think I won't do it? I'm protecting my baby. Let's see just how many reservations I have now. and Starbuck... oh hell, she's just Starbuck. I don't think she can really be defined.

  • @TonyEvans96 lol,yeah!

  • I miss BSG :'(

  • @PhilipTheaker2009 so say we all

  • after watching this tv series multiple times, it piss's me off that we were all born to early and that we will no doubtedly never get to witness space attacks and fights and shit that is in this show, i mean yes its just a show but the earth (if it lasts long enough with us on it) is bound to go that ways i would give anything to have this sort of shit in our future yet its just a pipe dream still i seem to get the idea that it could and should happen

  • Starbuck rules!

  • @Thanathan20 ....yes.... "my man sucks but i dont want a divorce!!! ah who cares.. kill him!"

  • awesome show

  • awesome song.

  • Wlelcome...who playing that cover??

  • so say we all...

  • BY YOUR COMMMAND

  • anyone knows where is original guitar riff from? plix

  • Needs more HD for audio.

  • I like how much bass is in this song.

    And its fuck not frak

  • @21belgam I guess you haven't watched Battlerstar Galactica...have you?

  • Can any dedicated BSG fans what is the picture they stroke in the breifing room but is never mentioned? Its only been bugging me for 7 years now!! For Frack's sake!

  • @jamesskywalker79 i think is a picture of a soldier falling down during the first attacks. definatly something like that. its on a forum somewhere

  • question. kara is called the harbinger of death in the show, but i dont really see how that fits her?

  • @SifuJavis SPOILER FOR OTHERS: It's up to some interpretation, but Kara is truly a harbinger in the sense that she heralds a future. She becomes proof that there is some sort of resurrection or life after death - a continuity of identity. She also could be considered the harbinger of death for the Cylons since her thread leads to the destruction of the resurrection ship, rendering the Cylons mortal.

  • Anyone know any other bands or music that is this style, i heard this on on battlestar and it just so good.

  • @disturb3dfan listen to tool, its just like it

  • @HolySwordsman1 Thank you i heard tool a long time ago, i will check them ago again i remember them being good.

  • Goosebumps.

  • you complain about the religious aspects of the show, but it's not about the religion itself, its always been about belief. Yes, the angel always told Giaus about god and his plan for him, but more so then that, she was getting him to believe in something more then just himself. In this world you cant have belief without religion and the best way to sell the belief on Giaus is with the religion of "One True God". Not a religious nut, just don't like that people complain about it being in BSG

  • @Aerothorn1 Agreed. Comments like "religion ruins everything" show that they have some serious hangups that they need to overcome in themselves. Religion doesn't ruin anything, it's what people use it to justify. Spirituality can transform people's lives and bring them joy and meaning... and this is NOT coming from a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, etc.

  • I just finished watching this series last night, and I wish they would have left all the religion bullshit out. The story could have been 10x better without "god" in it. Religion ruins everything. That being said, I still loved the series, and I feel sad that there are not more episodes that I can watch. I feel kinda lost today.

  • @biginchsmallblock

Same, but have you watched Caprica ? It's worst with the religion ! The storie is talking about god, and more than BSG !

  • Wait...you can hear it too?

  • Frak, I miss this show!

  • yeah ok what ever "re-imaging" blah......its sucks!!!! how dare they put a guitar solo in it!!

  • As much as I love this show and this song, this was a pretty terrible cover.

  • It's in the FRACKIN' computer!

  • @jacobparasite Toaster

  • @jacobparasite *Frakkin'

  • Just like that.... a switch goes off

  • 1123,6536,5321!

  • What the frak are we going to do now that BSG is over?!

  • @sidiousno I know that's frakked up!! What the frak are we gonna do now?

  • @sidiousno Well we could always go on to watch Firefly... oh wait.

  • 107 Cylons.

  • Im up to 3:11 and i just watched the ending of the season finale... depressing show

  • @tehBLAX more like depressing because it ended. i was lost for a day after the finale.

  • @gottarunrs Its just something about the ending.... they are all dead and its 150 thousand years later in OUR world, and how they walk away in the distance.. fkn hell why do shows like this have to end. And why was guiyas and 6 still alive at the end if it was 150k years later? without much spoilers, thanks

  • @tehBLAX that one is impossible to explain without spoilers. have you seen the entire series? or did you just skip to the end?

  • @gottarunrs im up to season 3 episode 11. but im not sure i want to watch it anymore cos then it will end forever :(

  • @tehBLAX lol understandable. but not knowing what happens next is worse in my book.

  • @tehBLAX re-watch the show. they basically explain what that Baltar and Caprica 6 are. ;)

  • @thebl4ckd0g Oh, i havent finished yet im up to season 3 episode 15, but im taking my time watching them instead of rushing thru. i already read online that they are angels.... I wish they the writers never put something like that in because it leaves you with too many questions and no answers :/

  • @SnipeSpace I watched the first season non-stop, and around second last episode i asked my mom to pick up the 3 other seasons. I ended up watching whole BSG non-stop, other than what time it took to throw the food in to microwave oven. BSG is so epic!

  • Comment removed

  • If you re-watch "Revelations," you can catch the Final Five using lyrics of the song as dialogue.

  • @firefly8771 Indeed, I noticed it as well.

    Saul has the most 'lyrics'

  • And to answer the question, it was composed by Bear McCreary, and the singer is his brother Brandon McCreary.

  • Listen to the song people. I mean really listen. This is not a cover. This is a re-imagining. This song was originally a response to a terrible time. Bear took it and transformed it into a song that fits the terrible times we are finding ourselves in now. It is not a simply a "cover of a good song". He has taken the pulse of the world and this is his response to what he has felt. Think about it, listen to it a few times. Think about where the world is, where it is going and where it could go.

  • @Smurphly You listen to the song.

  • @Smurphly My Husband has, and this is only the Beginning... arcticstormfront.blogspot.com/

  • @Smurphly nicely said ;)

  • @Smurphly thats what im thinking. Its a re-imagining, in a darker way

  • love it

  • Who sings this version?

  • 4 years ago. IMPOSSIBRU.

  • Well this song just got bumped thanks to reddit

  • Fraking awesome show....fraking awesome cover of this fraking song!!!!

  • EARTH EARTH EARTH

    ADAMA:Earth is a dream.

Fraking idiots destroy the galactica and fleet.Noobs.Fraking lee.

  • i think there trying to say that jimmy is such a boss that he has happened before, and he will happen again

  • @mortis469 you really need a lesson in grammar because i read that five times and didn't understand any of it, so before you start going off because you're on your period learn some proper english

  • Oh yeah I'm racist alright, I must be cause you libtards keeping saying that every time someone says something negative about Obuttma.

    GET A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mortis469 Whoah racist much?

  • Adama: Starbuck, what do you hear?

    Starbuck: Nothing but the rain.

Adama: Then grab your gun and bring in the cat.

    Starbuck: Boom, boom, boom!

  • @MrClose2theEdge Starbuck: Nothing but the rain, sir. * (:

  • @ArcticVelocity I am done here, I've completed my journey and it feels good.

  • @MrClose2theEdge Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

  • Man, way to butcher Jimi.

  • @shazang0 sorry to say Bob dylan was the first singer of this song all the rest were covers ....google shit b4 u mouth over youtube lol

  • @joshyperk Yeah, but Hendrix's was the best. Hendrix's version is ALSO better known. Understand implied facts in comments before you act like a cunt over YouTube, RLWP.

  • when i heard the song for the first time , the guitar i got goosebumps :D and it went uphill from there WOOOOoooo

  • Great video, awesome song. The season 3 finale was my favorite episode of the entire series.

  • who made this song? And dont say Starbucks father =)

  • @MrSaunter Bear McCreary (original writer is Bob Dylan).

  • really awesome version, really awesome show

  • This is a brilliant video, well made.

  • hey, theres like an irish song for this show thats prety sweet, but i cant find its real title. does anyone know what it is?

  • @sexySCREAMINGzombie I assume you're referring to the Adama family theme. There are two versions, both of which can be found on the season one soundtrack. The tracks are called "A Good Lighter" and "Wander my Friends."

  • I can't believe how well this was put together, LtDarkstar. And you didn't reveal any spoilers. That is classy.

  • I tip my virtual hat to you, LT. that was nice. TY.

  • I love Starbuck. :D

  • I love this. Darkstar you are very good. The transition to the clip from "He who believeth in me" where Lee, newly resigned of his commission signals the flight ops crew to push the damn button is a particularly good airing of visual and audio mood.

  • Listen to the words. The music unfolds it. History.

  • Afraid as always but a warrior will admit.

  • A great song to fit the BEST show on TV.

  • This is so intense, had to listen to this after i watched last ep

  • I love this version. It sounds so much more epic than the original!

  • I think this song was amazing, except for the vocals. I think those screwed it up, otherwise it would be better than Hendrix's, no disrespect intended.

  • How many copies are there of Bob Dylan?

  • @8888gail only one.. many versions of bob's music but only one bob survived

  • I really, really love this song with BSG!!!

  • Its in the frakkin ship!!

    - How many times did Tai say this? lol

  • Love BSG,but the whole Bob Dylan thing is way from origional, Ive just finished a book written in the mid 90s(The last English King) and set in 1070AD, a traveller comes across a " Scruffy, nasal voiced jewish street singer singing about princesses keeping watch from towers" The whole theme of the book is how what has happened will happen again etc.....still, BSG, Best Sci Fi ever !!!

  • It's in the frakking ship!

  • bellissima

  • BAttlestar Galactica Board game is awesome!!! Thought I'd just throw that out there.

  • Just finished the third season, and I am mindblown! Gonna buy the final season asap, this is in my opinion one of the best series out there.

  • Tekkin23 is frakking right. This cover is EPIC for Starbuck Dedicaation

  • I am on season 4. This show rocks. Glad I waited

  • Vipers are the coolest thing about BSG.

  • I disagree the original was the best version. I didn't really care for the song until I heard this version on BSG. The moment the song kicked in, I sat up was riveted to the TV.

This is by far a better version. Bear adds so much more depth to the song, and now the song as meaning, whereas before it meant nothing, and was nothing more than noise to me. Bear is a musical genius.

  • @DarthBeige1 Both are really good. But this has the BSG depth to it. So I like this one just a little more.

  • I have played this song for 35 years in a dozen bands - this is the greatest arrangement and re-imagining ever! It does not compete with the original

or the Hendrix version, but stands along side them as a worthy companion.

  • I am a playing musician. I happen to like this version, because it is different. Some songs it works on to change it up a bit. Others, well, not so good. The video helps solidify the total of it. The heavy drums are great. I am not usually a fan of remakes but this one is awesome! It is OK to say the original is the best, no probs. Just dont forget to allow youself to like something else once in a while.

  • Its in the Frakkin ship!

  • I think if the Jimi version of this song (although better) was used it would be to easily recognisable and the mental twist at the end would of had less of an impact, when it all came together when all 4 said the lyrics and the music came on literally pooped my pants

  • Comment removed

  • And who is the performer? Cause it's not Bob cylon dylan nor Jimi hendrix...

  • @Ecnalnogard This arrangement was done by Bear McCreary, who composed almost all of the music for BSG and Caprica. The singing is his brother Brendan, known by his professional name "Bt4"

  • ...yeh I would welcome this newer Lt.Starbuck fucking me i fit was for keeps;

~if only she was serious and single & was trying to hang up the trained killer routine

    =cigars would be negotiable

  • Comment removed

  • FRAKKING awasome

  • all of this has happened before... all of it will happen again

  • I'm trying to create a religion here around this series.

  • I've caught up to season 4 on Netflix. I love this show. I went nuts when Kara pulled up along Apollo.

  • 102 people can't hear this in the frakking ship.

  • Proof, if proof were needed, that Bob Dylan is a Cylon. How else would he have come up with the exact same song when its creators came from God knows how many light years away and landed on the earth tens of thousands of years ago?

"The answer's blowin' in the wind"? Yeah, right, Bob. You got it transmitted to your Cylon brain.

  • @EvenflowBlack I really think you nailed it there

  • @EvenflowBlack because...whats the most well known verse fro the sacred scrolls...

This has all happened before...and will Happen again.

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what do most of y'all consider the "original" of this song though? Perhaps my age and partially my admitted ignorance, but i didn't know until the end of BSG that Hendrix' version was a cover of Bob Dylan's.

  • @Defidius Hendrix version is really very very great but yes its cover.

  • no frakking way didn't realise it was a cover of jimi hendrix lol I knew I recognised the tune!! I Starbucks on the piano version best tho :) Just got up to that episode last night! Gutted Ive nearly watched them all but I just cant get enough of it!

  • The Final of Season 3 was just so motherfuckin amazing. I was sitting in front of my PC with my mouth wide open because i couldnt believe how amazing it was.

  • @DivingDonut Wait until you finish! One of the BEST series I've ever watched. So you've seen the whole New Caprica arc, then? Was simply amazing how they used the Galactica for that. Have fun!

  • @DivingDonut I just watched it for the second time. Still just as amazing! I'm going to have to watch the episode again!

  • @DivingDonut the 2nd season final was great to! When the cylons arrive at new caprica, admiral adama had to leave and gaius surrended to the cylons

  • @DivingDonut I JUST got done with the season 3 finale (been catching up via Netflix) and it was BADASS. What a way to end a season and leave one helluva cliffhanger for the next.

  • best season finale ... it rocked

  • Anyone commenting about how much better the "original" Version was: STFU!

The Original is from Bob Dylan NOT Jimi Hendrix and btw: Jimi Hendrix version is also in the show!

It's played at the very end of BSG!

I just saw the last episode once again together with a part of my (birth-)family (none of them watched the show).

I recommended it to them half a year ago and they were really impressed.

Now they had tears in their eyes!

The old man only whispered: "What a wonderful show!"

  • Jimi Hendrix would call these anonymous cowards little bitches. And he would be right.

  • @nobama6 lol no he wouldnt

  • @nobama6 Jimi Hendrix would smoke up and say, "Good for them, man. Fight the power." Get it right, n00b. I was alive when Hendrix was. You probably weren't even a fetus yet.

  • @nobama6 hahaha i highly doubt anyone with the word 'nobama' in their name has a /damn/ clue what hendrix would've thought or done about anything.

  • You missed the part where she rolls by beside him and says "Hey Lee". Would have been great if that was part of the track,.
