I am Christian but I don't worry about others salvation, I worry about mine and think I am right, what God wants to do with them is His choice and not mine. But I do think, even though I am Christian that worshiping the Earth and Mother Nature is not idolatry but merely worshiping God. I don't worship the Earth physically, but I do in my heart. How blessed am I to be on this Earth with such a great life?

Regarding being a Christian, the word Christian simply means one who believes in Jesus but if you believed in him then you believe his teaching and his teaching clearly states you need to be a Catholic.

I do think that Jesus was the Son of God and I believe in the Apocalypse but unlike many believe, I think the Apocalypse is not predictable as Jesus even says. But I do not believe that you must be a Catholic, it says in the Bible that you must just confess orally and in your heart to be saved. Just like for the bread and the wine subject, Jesus said "Do this in remembrance of me." The keyword in that is, "Remembrance."

My friend, I can assure you that the Vatican never participated in any genocides whatsoever. It may have done some mistakes in the past (such as the excesses of the Inquisition) but it has apologised for them time and time again and afterall, its only human to make mistakes. And Catholics DO NOT try 2 be Christ, they only try 2 live life according to His teachings. This doesn't mean that they can't make mistakes!

FYI the Spanish Inquistion ONLY sentenced around 1% of those tried to death (i.e. the English state courts sent more to their deaths than the Inquistion could ever hope to!) However you seem to forget the fact that protestant English STATE courts sentenced a greater % of those tried to death, when compared to the 'bloodthirsty' Inquisition which only sentenced around 1% to death. WHY DO YOU KEEP ON IGNORING THIS???

im not a bloody protostant. and what ever the hell english state courts did does not legitimise what the fell inquisition did. the inquisition was the vaticans equivilent of stalins KVD show trials. the vatican was just removing threats to thier power, not preaching christs message. the vatcican ORDERED the spanish state to cary out the executionsand they were so brainwashed they obeyed unquestioningly. for the record i am an agnostic, not a follower of any religious ideology.

I am not trying to legitimise what the Inquisition did. However I ask you to judge it with respect to the actions of other institutions of the time. It is highly unfair to pick on the Inquisition when state courts in general have done worse.
Official NKVD statistics (which some experts believe are understated) show that more than 41% of those 'tried' were put to death. You CAN NOT compare this to the Inquisition's 1%!!!

the reason i pick on it was because it was supposedly done in the name of a loving, peacful god. the inquisition survived in spain till the 18th century, cuting down scientific growth and free thinking.

We were talking about this in my Spanish class and the information I heard there was that it wasn't until the early 19th century that Spain declared it over. I don't know for sure what the truth is, but I think that the idea of an extra 50 or 100 years makes it even more extreme.

Attributing the Inquisition solely to the Pope is in fact incorrect. Indeed, as early as the late 1470s (or early 1480s), Pope Sixtus IV actually condemned the Inquisition claiming it was "giving a pernicious example and causing scandal to many." The Spanish monarchy however, which obviously stood to gain from keeping the Inquisition in place, ignored this and worked on increasing its power.

In 1484, Pope Innocent VIII also tried to curb the Inquisition's authority... alas to no avail as the Spanish King was too powerful, even for the Pope himself. So please, do some researching before accusing the Church in such a scandalous manner.

Are you talking of the Kingdom of Castille? Aragon? The Inquisition was formed by Dominican priests and, ultimately, answered to His Holiness. Their acting in Spain was exemplary, cunningly documenting all the processes, and discarding false accusations.
Enemies of the Church continue, today, to render it a parody of what it really was.

I was talking about the King of Aragon - Ferdinand II, excuse me if I wasn't clear. But you must admit that there were excesses, and that the Inquisition did do wrong aswell. The Pope himself said this.

Why you persist in choosing to ignore simple statistics???
1) The % of priests involved in child abuse cases is BELOW 2% (i.e. there is a greater chance that the average U.S. teacher abuses children than the average priest)
2) the % of those sentenced to death by the Inquisition barely amounts to 1% of all those tried (meaning that 'normal' STATE courts of the time sentenced a HIGHER % to their deaths than the Inquisition ever did)

i dont count child abuse as a specific fault conected to the RCC, their are as many pedeophiles in schools and health services as the church. but you look like a real fool trying to legitimise what the inquisition did.

The RC Church is the world's largest contributor to charity. It preaches love and God's Word to all those willing to listen. Punto e basta!!!

I have a very nice reason to live, like you and everybody else. The modern church still interfers with state issues and tries to maintain its power (ROI, S america), though its given up on world domination. people like luther and calvin broke there power grasp. maybe the modern church does good maybe it doesnt, the jurs out.
