贵州贞丰苗族 - The Black Miao of Southwest Guizhou 1/2

I like their outfits. Recently, I've seen a lot of girls wearing the Hmong outfits from Guizhou with the silver headdresses for New Years, so I'm gonna try to get these Black Miao clothing for New Years, try to keep it diverse, you know?

Chinese popular culture is "lame". They teach their children and society that Hmong people are "evil". For example, Legend of Sword and Fairy/Chinese Paladin portrays the Black Miao as evil and barbaric and the hero of the game has to vanquish the Black Miao and "send them back to their homeland". If this is the case, doesn't that mean the Chinese will need to move to the island continent of East China (haha! the sea) and make room for the Hmong/Miao to return to their homeland near Beijing?

I recently read Tapp's book "Hmong in China" and there are a few chapters devoted to wedding rituals. Now I understand this wedding ritual more thoroughly and appreciate all the intricite details involved. And we Western Hmong complain about all the fine details. They are nothing compared to our Miao brethen's wedding ceremony.

The black Miao called themselves Hmub. Their dialect is quite different from the Hmong and A-Hmao. I have a music video of this Miao group and some words are the same like Cha for five, Bieh for We and Three, Hlai for month. Very similar. Our migration led to our diversity.

All black Hmong in the United States have been assimilated into the white Hmong dialect. We only speak White Hmong now, it's hard to be a Black Hmong and not know your own dialect.

Beautiful Miao culture, especially the marriage costume and tradition. The beautiful bride is wearing beautiful costume and silver ornaments, but she is wearing straw shoes in sharp contrast. It is the Miao tradition that the bride must be ready for any unforeseeable hardship ahead. Very meaningful.
