It does have a little story. You get to do a test drive for a racer from a racing company, then you get chosen for their team, and then you must get better and after that you can do the World Tour instead of the other racer you tested for.
I enjoyed this game. I completed it. However I disliked Shift 2. With S2, they went for a more simulated driving experience but it still felt arcade-ish - ie, it played horribly imo.

I think that his comment about lack of story and cop chases is unjustified, the game never sold itself as that, yes it is a need for speed game, but it has always been said to be a 'Pro Racing Game' which is exactly what it is, and a very good one too in my opinion. The cars feel beautifully realistic, and the AI are great.
@toolshuggah I was and still am a classic NFS fan, but MW is currently my favorite. I think it even owns the new so call Hot Pursuit. HP2010 is a joke, nothing more of Burnout with the nfs title and a whole bunch of real cars thrown in..
the old Hot Pursuits were better, 1 being my favorite, but Most Wanteds cop chases were purely awesome, and would have been better if you could have been the cop..

I disagree angry Joe. I like the hybrid system of where it kind of feels like a simulator, like Gran Turismo or Forza, but also kind of arcadey so it doesn't get too boring. We don't need cops or any of that other BS here, keep that for those Most Wanted games, this isn't what Shift is about. I like Need For Speed but I think this game is way too similar to Forza Motorsports 3 , I mean cause the gameplay is almost exactly the same thing. You'd expect one of the companies would be bitching about it but I guess not , But I do love Need for Speed , I still remember when I played NFS 3 lol.

Yo if I wanted a pro racing game I would get grand turismo, stick to what got you here, avoiding cops and hitting the nos to win at the end! bring back a real need for speed game.
I do wish these physics would be placed in Carbon (the best NFS IMO, before Shift, not Most Wanted :P). Still. I want city driving with these physics.
I prefer shift for the immersive experience. The cars physics have a floaty feel to it and it slides too much. I prefer the crashes in GRID and the physics is slightly better in Grid and the replays is better in GRID. Better camera angles.
aw c'mon grid is last year game, of course there is some improvement on shift, at least in graphics and gameplay, perhaps the handling on shift is much better, I haven't try shift actually, but I've play grid, and It was pretty insanely difficult game, I barely have fun with that game

GTR2 team concentrated their efforts exactly where it counts - on the driving itself.
Need for Speed shift has EXCELLENT GRAPHICS but VERY LOW driving quality (POOR SIMULATION).
That's why GTR2 is 10 times better in my opinion.
Note: I have both GTR2 & Need for Speed Shift.

to bad the games he reviews are for consoles but to balance it they are multi-platform, so i still had the option to witness the "awesomenes" of terminator salvation

Yo if I wanted a pro racing game I would get grand turismo, stick to what got you here, avoiding cops and hitting the nos to win at the end! bring back a real need for speed game.

I do wish these physics would be placed in Carbon (the best NFS IMO, before Shift, not Most Wanted :P). Still. I want city driving with these physics.

I prefer Shift over GRID any day. I get no feel of the game with GRID.

I prefer shift for the immersive experience. The cars physics have a floaty feel to it and it slides too much. I prefer the crashes in GRID and the physics is slightly better in Grid and the replays is better in GRID. Better camera angles.

aw c'mon grid is last year game, of course there is some improvement on shift, at least in graphics and gameplay, perhaps the handling on shift is much better, I haven't try shift actually, but I've play grid, and It was pretty insanely difficult game, I barely have fun with that game
