  • I'm from INDIA?!?!? WTH

  • This video tells the horrors of Brahmanism/ Caste-ism and Hindu Priests themselves which is still prevalent in India most minds the 'upper caste' Hindu populace. The term 'Hindu Talibans' come to mind?

  • This video tells the horrors of Brahmanism/ Caste-ism and Hindu Priests themselves which is still prevalent in India.

  • Talk about ur own primitive habits, white man!! Was it not just the other day that you became civilized ? How do you dare make speeches about Aryan race and its assumed superiority? How do u have the gall of preaching to us about the Caste system when u indulged in the abominable practice of slavery just a hundred years back? Incredible, I just can't fathom how simply the arrogant europeans forget their past & their very short history. The history of Rome & Greece was never urs to claim.

  • @adityabose26 This is a white man who lived a hundred years ago. Indians also had slavery, everyone did until recently - it was whites who cracked down on it worldwide, or it would still be with us. By contrast, the caste system is still around, and fading only slowly. Your comment about Rome and Greece not being European is pure prejudice.

  • priceless ! specially the explanation about casts.....now I understand.....

  • Very nice to see the condition of people before independance. Those who think we have not progressed must see this. The video was shot when britain completely robbed India and was about to leave..Although some things they did were good like banning 'sati' practice but i wont cedit british with that,in modern world that practice would not have existed anyway.notice the 'superiority' complex of the commentator? still iam glad i got to see this

  • @raahulworld India was miserably poor, like almost everywhere almost all the time until recently. Indian nationalists imagine a fantasy world in which everyone was a maharaja. The reality is that most Indians lived in mud floored huts, and life expectancy in India in 1800 was lower in than it was in Anglo-Saxon England. India had made hardly any progress for two thousand years, and if the west hadn't created industrial civilisation, it might not have made much for the next two thousand.

  • @Bhoeble ha ha..Do you even know history? In the 17th and 18th century india accounted for 25% of the world trade!India was richest nation in world followed by china. That is the reason why everyone called India 'Golden Bird' at that time and dont forget Columbus set out to search for trade route to India when he accidently found America..India was a very rich place and within 150 years of british occupation India's global trade share decreased from 25% to mere 2% in 1947! Nehru also believed so..

  • @Bhoeble here's a quote by historians for u,"All these reforms lead to an explosive growth in Indian economy. Akbar ruled 50 million prosperous subjects and a huge economy. At that time India and China together accounted for 50% of the world’s GNP. A major economic catastrophe occurred when Nadir Shah (1739), a Persian buccaneer invaded Delhi and decamped with booty of $1 billion in today’s money. He was so happy with the take that he remitted all taxes of the Iranian people for next five years"

  • @Bhoeble British Governor General Lord McCauley’s speech to the British Parliament on Feb 2, 1835

"I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such caliber, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation" i'll mail you te rest..its not possible here

  • @Bhoeble 'Just about the Battle of Plassey, Industrial Revolution had begun in England. Manufacturing on larger scale had replaced cottage industry & farming. Factories had to be kept humming and products sold at profit. The best place the British could find to export their manufactured goods was India. Hence, India’s commercial, manufacturing and agricultural sectors, which had existed for thousands of years, were to be completely dismantled. This they went about with great finesse..'

  • @Bhoeble And sanskrit has been considered the mother of all languages..The region where you find most diverse dialectscof a language is considered the birthplace of the language and proto-indo-european language has most dialects in India than in whole europe and asia..

  • @raahulworld No one knows the origin of the IE Languages. Latvian is almost a mirror language of Sanskrit--and another dialect of Latvian was Hittite. Surprise! Did the Latvians and their brothers in Anatolia come from India? No! If you doubt go to Lexiline.com. The Tocharians lived on the edge of the desert in western China yet their 2 languages are Centum languages while Sanskrit is a Satem Language--The Satem language. I'm beginning to believe in the Tower of Bable. Who were the Aryans?

  • Almost hundred years later nothing has changed. I was there few months back this place still stinks and makes me sick!

  • if you look at the recent videos of the ganges river it hasnt changed at all. Its just 10 times more polluted to go in...

  • Such an ignorant video..

  • Real old movie...magnificious reality of old India; Thanks very much

  • Read Mark Twains comments on Benares from "Following The Equator"

  • Well, every culture has its own sacred ceremonies of some type. Now we are more civilized but there are still some countries who do this.

  • Сегодня Бенарес такой же , Каши Вишванатх рулит .....БООМ !

  • old western biased idiotic racist aryan-invasion lies. Vedic culture and religion is global and eternal.

  • I am thankful that the west has a much more correct view of India and Hinduism today than when this was filmed. As an American Indian who is also a Hindu I can say the inaccuracies in this film are too many for me to mention.

  • ur wrong, hinduism is a bundle of superstious belifs

  • @ravving - you are a bunch of superstitious beliefs

  • look at the genius explaining that cattle produces absolutely nothing.

  • fuckleaders, you are a moron. the cattle do not produce anything for them. does it hurt to be such an idiot?

  • where the hell do u think ur milk and cheese come from u ignorant prick

  • they're not talking about mine. they're talking about the indian people's - you unbelievable ignorant piece of stupid shit. wow, there are a lot of morons here, but none could even come close to being anywhere close to as much of a loser piece of shit as you. also, tell your mother to stop calling me.

  • @zbyszek654 wtf is wrong with u. cattle the same anywhere motherfucker

  • Yes, you dumb piece of shit, I realize cattle are the same all over the world. However, this video is about India. And in India cows are sacred and are not used for food. That is why the narrator referred to them as useless. In the US we eat delicious cow meat and milk. In India, they would never consider such a thing. And that, my dumb as shit friend, is why are a world-class moron.

Now that I've explained to you why you are so stupid, I believe a simple apology is in order. Apologize, bitch.

  • @zbyszek654 you stupid piece of shit the cow is revered in India BECAUSE they give milk used in a variety of dairy products, manure for soil, ox are used for tilling. so why dont just shut up ur hole and VISIT a place to know about instead of getting your opinions from some snotty ass british guy that made a documentary 50 years ago

  • 1. Cows are not used for work in India.

    2. Cows are rarely used for milk in India, they are not good for dairy in India.

    3. You are a worthless piece of shit.

    4. Anyone who uses profanity in their name realizes you are not a person to be believed.

    5. Your mom licks your balls.

  • @zbyszek654 stupid mother fucker i am from India what are u smoking go bring some snack to eat while ur mom sucks my dick and ur dad is filming stupid dumb shit

  • Apu, please refer to #3 in my previous message.

  • @zbyszek654 which hole did you crawl out from ? Go have sex with ur cats and dogs thats all u good for.

    1) Bulls are used for work in India

    2) Cows are always used for milk

    3) Cow manure is used for building houses, fires in india and other countries

If u dont know what the fuck ur talking about shut ur trap and go play with cats/dogs they dont require any social/intellectual ability which u clearly lack.

  • 1. i never mentioned anything about bulls. but i'll mention now that your dad fucks bulls. he just loves that bull cock.

    2. cows are never used for milk in india. you sucked too much rotten mild out of your mothers sagging tits and that is why you are suck a fucking moron.

    3. your mothers house is made of cowshit and you live in her basement.

i don't blame you for being such a stupid piece of shit. everyone here knows you can't help it and that you were born dumb as fuck. dirty little fag.

  • Um its not just great britian that stopped Sati. Mira Bai, a Rajastani princess, refused to join her husband in Sati. But its good it was outlawed. They spoke against the guy who begs for stuff, but not against the people who married children?

  • They dont understand what that 'begging' meant.

  • I haven't heard about white people coming from India. I have heard about some Indians migrating to somewhere in SE Europe. But I don't think they where white. Anyone out there know if this is true or BS?

  • The Indo-Europeans. Different groups went to what is now Europe, and I think the Middle East. But I'm not sure they actually 'originated' in India.

As for the Indians migrating to SE Europe; that would be the Roma, also known as Gypsies. I don't think they've proved 100% yet that the Rom people migrated from India, but there's so much evidence, I think most people just go with it.

  • @Avatarlover85 Latin and other euro languages derived from indian language Sanskrit

  • @ThinkingGuy100 Wrong, Sanskrit is just one of many early Indo-European languages. The common source language is proto-Indo-European, which was not spoken in India. The most common hypothesis is that it was spoken on the Pontic Steppe, i.e. in Europe. The second most popular theory is that it was spoken in Anatolia, which is closer to Europe than it is to India.

  • I agree. This is so negative to Hinduism. It's a shame that people will believe its lies.

  • The crazy thing is that it you look watch some other videos about this its like they just added color. it still looks almost exactly the same 78 years later.

  • These old travel films are priceless because they are a snapshot of what the world looked like back in the early 20th century, and because they indicate Western attitudes at that time. Much of the commentary on Hinduism was accurate, if crude, but the stuff about Aryans--being the ancestors of the white race, how the caste system originated with them, etc.--is pure bunk. It was part of the racial theorizing crackpottery that dominated Europe and America prior to WWII.

  • superb.
