Crime in London is higher across the board than in NY except for murders. C'mon, how subjective could, "life is much more enjoyable in London" be. NYC is one big dumb? C'mon, be realistic. My biggest pet peeve in London is the lack of activity after midnight. There are advantages to both, but NY is both more affordable and quite frankly has just as many attractions as London. @YellowLickilickyXL - If you judge skylines on modern skyscrapers alone, sure. One of the only things London doesn't particularly offer is a single grand panoramic view... but I'd still rather have countless medival churches and neo-gothic buildings over central skyscraper like in, say, Kuala Lumpur or Taipei. I was impressed with Tokyo's skyline, but London still looks better when you're on the ground, so unless you're going to fly around NYC or Tokyo in a helicopter, doesn't really matter.
@tomsega besides, who needs another concrete jungle, anyone can do that ( its not practically possible in London due to the marshy ground type its built on, but anyway) what our cities do is get the past, present and future into the skyline, and who else does that? sure there bigger in the US, but so is a lot of other stuff ;) you could have a big, boring and bland skyline, or a smaller one that's more diverse, unique and cultural, be proud that were different :)

I don't think London has the best Skyline in Europe, but based on the 5-6 new Skyscrapers planned to be finished by 2012 (including the tallest building in the EU) it definitely will do soon.
I thought it was really nice time-laps of London and the buildings looked beautiful at night, I am from Australia and I think the UK have wonderful places to go and visit.
In recent years England/GB has been more successful than Australia in sport, especially when we have gone head to head. I.e the last two rugby world cups, 2 of the 3 last ashes and the 2008 Olympics.

What strikes me every day here, are the beaches, the warm weather, the hilly topography, the parks, the vitality of the streets in so many areas, and off course the Habour... None of the cities I've lived in can deliver all of this at the same time.

One of the only things London doesn't particularly offer is a single grand panoramic view... but I'd still rather have countless medival churches and neo-gothic buildings over central skyscraper like in, say, Kuala Lumpur or Taipei. I was impressed with Tokyo's skyline, but London still looks better when you're on the ground, so unless you're going to fly around NYC or Tokyo in a helicopter, doesn't really matter.

However I can tell you that a well known travel writer that works for lonely planet recently visited my home town of Aberdeen in the north east of Scotland and said "The only thing Greyer than the weather is the people" and you know what, coming from a visitor he's right. All I know is i'd rather live in London than Sydney or Aberdeen again.

London has Tower of London, Tower Bridge, City Hall, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, St James' Palace, Covent Garden, The Palace of Westminster, Big Ben etc etc. That's why were the 2nd most popular Tourist destination in the world and Sydney doesn't even make the top 50 ROFL. For the record I have traveled all around Europe in the last 2 years despite the the recession because of the pounds economic strength (£1=1.6599 Aussie dollar) people are still able to travel abroad, not as much as in previous years but still more than most.

French Renaissance, Victorian & Edwardian.... and the 20/30's Art Deco....
