@gedugat Hey there buddy. SHUT THE FUCK UP. What kind of person gets off from anonymously insulting someone over the internet? Jesus FUCKING christ, have a pair of balls and go find someone you don't like, walk up to their face, and insult them THERE. For FUCK'S. SAKE.
I love this interpretation! Comparing the classic Dietrich Fischer Dieskau with this draws up so many thoughts! it's incredible! even with the accompanists, it's interesting. Alfred Brendel was so quick with his tempo with absolutely no rubato or anything. this accompanist is so gentle, giving every note the same attention and "love." i can't decide which i like better!!!! I knew i liked Hermann Prey!!
It would be interesting if anyone interested in literary history or dendrology
could research whether it can be established if a specific large linden tree inspired Wilhelm Muller to write this remarkable poem, which inspired one of Schubert's most popular songs. Schubert had great sympathy for Muller, who lived near the upper Elbe River, in a rural area southwest of Berlin. German foresters took good care of their trees, and the public appreciated them.
Wilhelm Müller was born and spent most of his life in Dessau, which even at the time was quite an important town (later made famous by the Bauhaus architects). Since every German village had/has a linden tree, Dessau probably had/has several. More detailed information on the meaning of the linden tree can be found in the text accompanying the video which I have tried to attach: ?v=XyYYklSDSO0
